Vermona Perfourmer MK II 2 & Döpfer improvisation

Vermona Perfourmer MK II 2 Döpfer Dark Energy Dark Time A-100 live improvisation pure analog sounds

YouTube Uploaded by Tiefengrund on Dec 18, 2011
Second video below.

"Another Improvisation with my analog synthesizers.
The recording and mixing is absolutly live, on one track .
At the beginning you hear the "Tick Tick" Rythm by the A-111-5 Modul triggert by the A-155 Trigger sequencer.
And the Perfourmer makes the "Thunder"-Sound.
(with much delay) andThe Waldorf Blofeld is only used as a masterkeyboard for the Perfourmer.

In the video you here only analog sounds in a singletrack-recording without overdubs.
The leading sequence makes the Doepfer Dark Time, triggering the A-100 envelope generator.
The audiosignal from the two A-110 Oszillators is filtered by the A-120 Moog Type Filter.
The deep bass is a sine wave from one of the two A-110, bypasses the Filter and goes direct in the VCA.

The other setup:

MOTM 3.0

via MOTM aka Synthesis Technology on the AH list, posted here with permission:

"It's time once again to blow things up and start fresh :)

a) As of Feb. 1st, Scott @ www.bridechamber.com will offer full MOTM kits. The selection of kits and their prices are up to Scott. He will initially be using my original pc boards and front panels. When those are used up, he will be switching to 'Bridechamber' branded panels/pc boards. The modules will retain the 'MOTM-xxx' part numbering scheme. Scott's parts may not be an exact match for what I used but they will be functional :) In many cases the parts just are too hard or $$$$ to use. Yellow box caps may be blue, so don't panic.

All current kit backlog will STILL SHIP FROM ME.

b) As of May 1st, Scott will have the option to offer fully assembled modules *except for* the '650 and '730. Again, this is strictly up to Scott, but I will not offer them past this date.

As some Youtube users requested me, I shot some Emax basic operations, specially the ones I use to do more often.
This is the first part, showing the Emax I focused on allocating samples, copy/paste and related. Also, showing how to create a new preset loading different samples from the floppy drive.
Video edition is quite amateur, so I apologize if you find some random jumps. Also, my english is not good, apologies for it.

NAMM: Line 6 Mobile Keys with Release Velocity

Mobile Keys 25 and 49 Line 6 - Namm 2012 Musicianews

YouTube Uploaded by musicianews on Jan 23, 2012

At 1:17 he mentions these have release velocity. You don't see that often. Velocity allows you to affect a sound based on how hard or quickly you hit the keys. Aftertouch allows you to affect a sound based on pressure you apply to the keys after pressing them. Release velocity, however, allows you to affect a sound based on how quickly you remove your hands from the keyboard. In short it offers an extra level of expression and can be quite useful. It's one thing I really liked about the Oberheim Matrix-6 keyboard. A simple example would be to assign the amplitude envelope release level to release velocity so that if you release quickly the sound cuts off, but if you release slowly the sound sustains.

Synth spotting with Jonti. Also see the companion post on MATRIXSYNTH-P here.

"For this episode of ADSR we were lucky enough to have Stone's Throw artist Jonti invite us over to talk about how he produced his debut album Twirligig. In ADSR fashion we run through his synths, his music writing process and his favourite software.

Jonti is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist and has been making music for years. He has already worked with the likes of Mark Ronson, Hodgy Beats, Santigold, Jon Wayne and more.

Its very hard to imagine just how Jonti composes. As Peanut Butter Wolf said "the arrangements blew me away. I couldnt figure out how the hell he did what he did". Luckily for us Jonti gives us an insight into how he does it and shows us his live MAX/MSP visual setup too.

The Music of Room 237 [Stanley Kubrick's The Shining]

YouTube Uploaded by jonat8han on Jan 22, 2012

"In 1980 Stanley Kubrick released his masterpiece of modern horror, The Shining. Over 30 years later we are still struggling to understand its hidden meanings. Rodney Ascher's film Room 237 is an exploration of the truths concealed in The Shining.

Kubrick's film was scored in large part with pre existing classical recordings, but the score for Room 237 has taken as its inspiration the elegant but quirky film music that accompanied low budget horror movies in the 1970s. Composers Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson utilize a combination of vintage and contemporary analogue synthesizers, as well as acoustic instruments to create an atmosphere that is at once both haunting and funky.

Musicians:
Jonathan Snipes - Synthesizers, Pianos, Vocoder, Percussion
William Hutson - Synthesizers, Percussion
David Rothbaum - Guitars & Bass
Nick Murray - Drums
Maryclare Brzytwa - Flute
Bear McCreary - Clavinet

BugBrand BoardWeevil Goes Blue for 2012

"The BoardWeevil returns after a year away - streamlined and with powerful additions. Welcome back this classic BugBrand device - a truly portable synth/sonic-world! These will be in regular production through 2012.
The BWeevil is built around a sonic-heart of three simple Square-Wave Oscillators which are combined via two quasi Ring-Modulators. This is followed up by a powerful Resonant Filter - a State-Variable version with manual blending between Low-pass & High-pass responses and variable modulation via the first Oscillator. This filter can produce some lovely pinging sounds when run at full resonance with low-frequency oscillation settings.

Two key circuit-bend techniques are applied to this core to bring the machine to vivid life. Firstly there is the Power Starve control for the Osc/RingMod generators, which sends them into crazy-mode. Then there are a total of 18 touch-points which allow you to directly interface with the circuitry, creating new routes of electronic flow (these all now feature current limiting resistors for added circuitry protection).

There are two independent outputs onboard - each has its own level control and they give distinctly different sonic results. The MiniAmp/Speaker (which I very nearly omitted from the design.. foolish me!) allows Weeviling on-the-move, while the transformer-isolated 1/4" Jack Output allows for more regular studio usage.

One new step from the previous BWeevil is that the circuit is now built around Surface Mount components (SMD) - these are all mounted to the underside of the circuit board, allowing for a clean & compact layout up top. From the beginning of 2012, all units are 'part-produced' - the SMD parts are auto-inserted & soldered by machine and we then hand-finish the building here in Bristol with all the extra hardware (switches, pots, etc). The first 40 units, the Yellow version BWeevil2011, were entirely hand-built.

Power is, as always, battery only - use a standard PP3 9V cell (a basic one is supplied with the machine). For further details about the BoardWeevil, read the instruction sheet images linked above.

BWeevils come in a hand-stamped cardboard box with foam inserts, printed instruction sheet, PP3 battery and 1 year parts guarantee. The machine measures approx. 4 x 6 inches."

"Other plans for 2012:
- no immediate PT Delay plans but I am working on a new 'mini' version - no release date as yet
- aiming for a handful of further standalone devices, taking on board Modular developments and new production processes
- in essence, nothing definite on the horizon as yet, but I think you all have an idea how I tend to move."

Analogue Solutions VOSTOK MATRIXSYNTH v2 - Modular Suitcase Synth Demo (Extended)

YouTube Uploaded by rezfilter on Jan 22, 2012
No affiliation with the site of course. The Vostok is a modular suitcase synthesizer by Analogue Solutions.

"Here's an extended look at the Analogue Solutions Vostok MATRIXSYNTH synthesizer.

This demo features a variety of sound types and sequences (traditional and non-traditional) demonstrating the Vostok's sound palette and variety of timbres. All sounds, with exception of the obvious acoustic drums (used for context), are created on the Vostok using either traditional patching or the pin matrix -- or a combination of both.

Sounds are being driven by either the on-board sequencer, MIDI sync (via GATE to CLOCK), or direct MIDI connection to a controller keyboard.

Emphasis for this video was more traditional synth sounds (basses, leads, sequences) as there are plenty of non-traditional (fx, ambient, noise) sound demonstrations on YouTube. The filter section at the heart of the Vostok was also a focal point of this video and is tweaked extensively for the various sound types.

Also, see the Telemetry (mini Vostok) in action at the following link:
