"The Moog modular Model 15 is an ultra-powerful, compact studio synthesizer designed for liveperformance and portability. It is housed in a rugged tolex-encased cabinet and is an idealsolution for the touring synthesist. The Model 15 design focuses on speed, creativity andsimplicity while still providing the enormous sonic depth and dimension found only in a vintageMoog modular synthesizer. The 907 Fixed Filter Bank section of the Model 15 is available inmultiple configurations to better suit the needs of the performing musician.

FAITHFULLY RECREATING THE MODEL 15

Over the course of 3 years, Moog Music set out to research and build a faithful recreation of theclassic Moog modular Model 15 analog synthesizer. Using all original documentation as well ascircuit board and art files for every module, Moog Engineers have painstakingly recreated thispowerful and portable analog system.

Each Model 15 is hand-built to its original 1974 Moog factory specifications and is a truerecreation of the original. Individual modules are brought to life just as the originals were, byhand-stuffing and hand-soldering components to circuit boards, and using traditional wiringmethods. Each module is then finished with a photo-etched aluminum panel, and placed in itsnew modular instrument.

This limited edition reissue of the Moog modular Model 15 is built to order, and is available invery limited quantities. Only 150 Model 15s will be made.

Grendel RA-9 GRENADIER SEMI MODULAR SYNTH

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via Perfect Circuit Audio

"The Grendel RA-9 Grenadier is a 1-oscillator analog monosynth with CV-Gate control. It has a semi-modular design in a tabletop enclosure with 1/4″ audio output. The Grenadier can be played stand-alone by using its keypad with 4 independently tuneable keys, or you can activate its onboard sequencer for minimal rhythm loops and tone sequences. Patch in a 1v/oct MIDI-CV converter (not included) and the Grenadier can play sequences from a MIDI workstation or computer.

The Grenadier’s unique palette of analog tones comes from its triple bandpass filterbank with syncable modulation. Its voice is designed for electronic basslines and melodic sequences, as well as slow drones, electro percussion loops, bass drums, and more. The filterbank can also become a tone source by setting it to self-oscillate with warm low frequency overdrive.

The Grenadier’s VCO offers square and triangle waveform. Its pitch can be modulated by the envelope generator for bass drops and other tuned analog percussion effects. The VCO waveform is synced to gate, for better bass output with staccato sequences.

The decay envelope generator offers a wide range of decay times up to 60 seconds. The contour of the envelope can be reversed with the bipolar Envelope Depth knob, putting it solidly in the electro funk zone. The Grenadier’s LFO covers a wide range of 0.05 Hz (that’s once cycle every 20 seconds) up to 60 Hz, and can be reset by gate events for tempo-sync effects.

The patch bay allows semi-modular control and multiplies the creative options when patching to itself, another Grenadier, MIDI-CV converters, and modular systems.** Fourteen patch points are provided including CV and gate in and out, clock in and out, LFO rate CV, and external audio input. It accepts Eurorack-type 1/8” (3.5mm) mono phone plugs.

The Grendel Grenadier has a straightforward knob-per-function layout that avoids confusing context-sensitive controls. Each switch on the front panel has a red status LED that is easy to see, but not glaringly bright. The case is built of laser-cut steel with durable powder coat and silkscreened graphics. It has a sturdy-feeling build, weighing in at nearly 2 pounds. Grippy rubber feet elevate it above the table, and a pair of polished metal handles double as a roll cage to protect its control surface.

The Grenadier is built to satisfy the need for creative analog equipment that stands the test of time.

Features

4-step analog sequencer that outputs control voltage in a repeating cycle I-II-III-IV. Voltage of each step is controlled by the knob above each key I-IV. It steps once to the right each time it is triggered. The analog sequencer normally controls the VCO frequency for simple melodic sequences, and can be patched to sequence the filterbank, LFO rate, or an external module.

Programmable Trigger Loop: It is normally synchronized to the LFO, or you can patch 16th-notes tempo clock to CLK IN. Program a rhythmic sequence of events in a 32-step (2 measure) endless loop by tapping the PROG-+ button in real time. Your input is quantized to the clock and repeats as long as clock is present. The trigger events can step the analog sequencer, trigger the envelope, or trigger an external module using the TRIG OUT patch point.

LFO; The rate can be controlled with the LFO CV IN patch point. Its response is exponential (~0.5v/oct) and its frequency range is 0.05-60 Hz. The symmetry of the triangle wave is variable and the pulse wave output can be varied from 20..80% width by using the Symmetry knob. Activate the TRIG button and the LFO will sync (restart) with each gate event. This can give the impression of tempo-synced LFO effects, and also lets you use the LFO like a second envelope generator for the filterbank. The LFO Depth knob sets the level of filterbank modulation, and is a bipolar gain type control. The LFO Out patch point is post-LFO Depth. The CLK Out patch point normally sends unattenuated LFO square wave.

Drone Button: cancels the volume envelope for endless sustained notes. And its filterbank can be driven into deep-pitched overdriven self-oscillations. The Drone Commander has two fixed oscillators, while the Grenadier has one VCO. But the Grenadier goes further with the addition of a VCA and envelope generator, plenty of CV connections, and a minimal onboard sequencer.

The Grenadier has CV and Gate Output, CV In and Gate In, Clock In, Clock Out, Alpha In and Beta In (CV inputs to control the filterbank’s 2-axis parameters), ENV Out, LFO Out, Trig Out, Osc Out (Disconnects OSC from Filter, this lets you use it as an FX send), Ext In (FX return or mix in an external VCO)"

The ZIP file contains 4 Folders - 46 Bass Drum Loops - 14 Bass Loops - 6 Melody Loops and 23 Percussive Loops.
.
Choose MP3 for a faster file download of the Demo track and the example sound files.
You will get the high quality WAVs in the ZIP file.
.
The Loops in this pack range from half a bar to 4 bars long, and have been carefully edited to loop seamlessly from start to finish to start….
They were all sequenced within the LEPLOOP analog groove box.
.
No Digital processing has been applied, only subtle fades to prevent clicks.
.
.
You may think "only 89 Loops?"……...but some loops contain many different elements, some differ subtly ("Dub Shop" contains 12 similar Bass Drums - actually "Dub Shop" and "Accent Velocity" are the same sequenced pattern, but with two different sounding results.) or in the case of the loop "WaveSequence" there are 8 vastly different percussive elements that you may edit and be creative with (eg. you can create a whole drum kit with one Loop) or Halloween Bells with 19 different Bells and percussive elements.
There are only a couple of loops that sound similar to each other and these have been included as the waveforms differ slightly and are great to provide a subtle variation.

New KOMA Elektronik POLTERGEIST - Analog Quadraphonic Audio Mixer

Published on Jan 20, 2015 KOMA Elektronik

"PLEASE USE HEADPHONES FOR THE BEST QUADRAPHONIC SOUND IMPRESSION

KOMA Elektronik's new POLTERGEIST Eurorack module enables users to manipulate up to four audio/CV signals quadraphonically or stereophonically in new and ghostly ways.

The POLTERGEIST is an analog Eurorack format audio/CV mixer, panner and VCA that goes beyond the usual two dimensional standards and enables hands-on quadraphonic mixing and panning with a staggering amount of VCAs. The four individual channels each include a VCA with CV input, performance-oriented clickless solo and mute switches that engage upon release for perfect timing, pan with CV input over 360 degrees (however, with the proper CV signal you can spin the sound around infinitely), a FIELD knob to add an inverted version of the signal to all mixer outputs, an ORIGIN knob to control pan modulation from the Master Pan CV input, and of course an input with Gain control. Spatial animation is easily achieved by adjusting these parameters along with outside CV control from other modulation sources.

With a flick of a switch, the POLTERGEIST can function as a stereophonic mixer as well. In the master section are 4 mixer outputs dedicated to each quadrant or left and right depending on which mode it is in. There is also an auxiliary stereo input going directly to the summing bus (pre-master VCA). Create your own compressor by using another module like an envelope or comparator into the Master Gain CV Input, a half-rectified, inverted CV input where positive CV reduces the Master Gain and negative CV is ignored. At the end is the Master Volume knob with CV input.

Pan position is highly controllable on an individual level for each channel. Slope (also controllable via CV) controls the curve of the pan: on one end the signal remains at one output for a long time then quickly jumps to the next; while on the other end, the signal stays at the output for a shortage before it slowly begins moving to the next. Shift each or all channels pan positions from 100% to 0% to -100% with the Master Pan CV input. By adjusting each attenuverter on each channel, complex choreographies are possible.

Additionally, while the POLTERGEIST comes AC coupled to protect amplification equipment from DC signals, a dip switch on the back allows it to be DC coupled to process CV signals as well. It measures at 28HP wide. The KOMA team has worked over a year and a half on this entirely new design as this module premiers our patented analog method of controlling quadraphony and mixing.

The POLTERGEIST will be available at select retailers worldwide in Spring 2015. Come by booth 6990 (hall A) at NAMM to try out the POLTERGEIST for yourself, or catch us at one of our quadraphonic events in Oakland, Portland or Berlin."

Bob Moog Foundation To Feature Legendary Modular Synth & Host Innovative New Company at NAMM

Pictured: "Steve Porcaro and Michael Boddicker checking out the vintage Moog Modular"
Below: "Bob Moog Foundation booth at last year's NAMM Show"

January 2015 - Anaheim, CA... The Bob Moog Foundation returns to NAMM, the global music industry trade show held in Anaheim, CA, from January 22-25, 2015. Furthering the success of their innovative educational project, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, and their preservation efforts of the Bob Moog Foundation Archives, the Foundation will provide NAMM attendees with a rare education and insight into innovative synthesizer technology, past, present, and future.

The Foundation will celebrate strides in innovation as it shares its expanded booth space with bourgeoning new company, 'Vo. 'Vo features inventor Paul Vo's groundbreaking work incorporating Acoustic Synthesis. Best known for his invention of the technology behind the Moog Guitar and the more recent Vo-96 Acoustic Synthesizer, Vo observes, "through Acoustic Synthesis, we can explore the sonic possibilities of acoustic instruments, and even previously unimagined objects of acoustic art, with the same depth we now explore electronic instruments."

Michael Koehler, CEO of 'Vo, shares his vision for the company. "The world was amazed in 2007 when the Moog Guitar was released and again in 2013 with the Vo-96. This year, 'Vo will give NAMM-goers a taste of where Paul has taken his original concept with a sneak peek of our next product." Koehler goes on to share his feelings on 'Vo's relationship with the Bob Moog Foundation. "'Vo is about innovation at its core. The Bob Moog Foundation is about innovation at its core. It is natural for our companies to have a mutually supportive relationship. We are extremely proud to be with them at NAMM and are looking forward to where the future will bring us."

The Foundation will also be honoring musical history as it hosts Michael Boddicker's behemoth custom Moog modular synthesizer. Michael Boddicker is a preeminent session synthesist who has worked with artists including Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Donna Summer, Quincy Jones, Barbara Streisand, George Benson, Olivia Newton-John, Joe Cocker, and Whitney Houston. A long-time close friend of Bob Moog, Boddicker is also known for his work scoring Flashdance, Buckaroo Banzai, Apocalypse Now, and more.

As a result of his extensive work, Boddicker's Moog modular is one of the most recorded synthesizers in music history. The instrument will be demonstrated throughout the weekend by the Foundation's Archive and Education Specialist, Marc Doty. This marks the third year in a row that that Foundation is featuring vintage Moog modular systems in their booth, a representation of their commitment make electronic music history accessible people of all walks of life.

The Bob Moog Foundation was created in 2006. Its mission of igniting creativity at the intersection of science, music, and innovation is carried forth through its hallmark educational project, Dr. Bob's SoundSchool, and through the preservation efforts of the Bob Moog Foundation Archives. New Stereoping Synth Controller Puls - Waldorf Pulse 1 Synthesizer Programmer

Published on Jan 20, 2015 stereoping

"Little demo for another edition of the Synth Controller. This time for the Waldorf Pulse 1 which is commonly considered to be very cool in sound but not so great programmingwize. Changing lines on it's editing matrix of the frontpanel cause parameters to jump because the Pulse uses pots and not encoders.
The Synth Controller of course also uses pots - on three colorcoded layers - bearing the same potential problem, of course. But there are more pots layed out in a more logical way and after tweaking some of the parameters, you already know where to quickly move wrongly positioned pots to prevent glitches.
The video shows in some examples how intuitive the programming process works on the Pulse 1 using this little midi programmer. Of course in realtime, while playing notes sent from Fruity Loops."

New Jomox T-Rackonizer Eurorack Module

via Jomox

"Eurorack complex time-woven filter matrix.

The T-Rackonizer transforms timely events into an analog feedbacked filter network.

The T-Rackonizer is the eurorack successor of our very sucessful T-Resonator which did very well over the past 7 years. It has been the least possible implementation of the former experimental filter network synthesizer called „Resonator Neuronium". The number of 6 nodes had been reduced to only two filter nodes - but still this structure offers a tremendous variety of sounds.
The module contains 2 analog T-ladder moog-like filters and a digital delay.

Not only can these two filters being controlled by cutoff and resonance - they can be feedbacked negatively or positively to itself or even across the partner filter by the mix knobs. Also they can be feedbacked across a digital delay/reverb chip which is literally woven into the signal path.

On the T-Rackonizer, the feedback and cutoff controls can be CV-controlled. Once you insert a CV cable into the CV jacks, the corresponding internal control knob (e. g. Cutoff) acts as an amount to the external CV. Without CV input, the control knobs work across the internal range.

The filters are made from discreete parts and form a 24 dB pole lowpass filter transistor cascade.

You can select 8 different algorithms, each with different delays, wave guides or structures and different feedbacks and modulate them even with an LFO.

Delays reach from less than a millisecond to 1 second, range and structure is depending on the algorithm.

These capabilities let you create evolving analog tape echoes, "klingon parties" by extremely feedbacked wave guide algorithm and much more.
By the analog feedback everything sounds organic.
The screaming analog feedbacks can delay themselves and thereby form new sound patterns.

The sine LFO gets retriggered by the audio signal and can be shaped with the audio envelope or just run alone.
In center position the amount is 0, to the left it's envelope-shaped LFO, to the right it's only LFO.

Incredible bass gains or screaming scratch sounds are no problem. Positive feedbacks create distorting bass enhancements or low feedback tones without applying a signal.
The mix pots are zeroed in center position; any other angle will couple or feedback negatively or positively.
The external CV inputs work from 0 to 5 volts. At maximum amount (corresponding control knob open fully clockwise), a voltage of 2.5 volts represents the center position of the control. This is very useful for usage with most of the external CV sequencers available.

The input has an adjustable gain and a Hi-Z input to plug in a guitar directly. Any line level signal can be processed, be it either mono or stereo.

The T-Rackonizer will be availabe in May 2015."

It's NAMM Week! Tracking NAMM Posts & the "New" Channel Labels

It's that time of year again.  As always, non-NAMM posts will continue to go up on the site as well. If you want to get a quick look at what's gone up for NAMM at any time, click on the red NAMM link towards the top of the site, just under the Featured Listings thumbnails.  You can get to it at the bottom of any NAMM post as well. The NAMM2015 channel will filter by 2015, and NAMM will filter all years. Note there are always new product announcements that are introduced outside of NAMM.   You'll find them in the New channel labels below.  The New labels cover the first post for any item new to the site including items introduced at NAMM.  They are all inclusive and only meant to be a quick look at what's new.  To get more info on any item you can search for it in the top left search box or use the additional channel labels at the bottom of each post.   I do all of this for a reason.  The NAMM label covers every single NAMM post giving you a sense of the event, while the New labels list out when each new item was introduced to the site.  Including more than the first post for any new item would drown out other new items, so only the first is included.

If I miss anything let me know.

Here are some sound examples - recorded directly from the plug-in with no additional effects."

Nave of course was originally released on iOS: Nave - Waldorf Music

"The nw1 Wavetable Module For Eurorack

Wavetable scanning is cyclic with optional modulation of travel speed, position, spectrum, and more besides. By providing the Waldorf wavetable set from the classic Microwave and Wave synthesizers, nw1 ‘will enrich your Eurorack modular system as a potently powerful sound source’.

The nw1 sound engine also allows for onboard creation of user wavetables via time domain multiple foldover analysis. All you need to do is connect any sound source to the nw1 to transfer audio into a wavetable. Or use the integrated speech synthesizer to translate typed text into wavetables.

Wavetable synthesis is an extremely powerful sound source suited to producing all kinds of vivid metallic hues and digital clangorous tones. It can create organic, bell-like timbres, as well as spectacular-sounding scans through various waveforms with truly ear-opening results. It was almost impossible to create these kinds of sharp-edged, digital sounds back before the invention of wavetable synthesis in the late-Seventies.

"Waldorf waves in new era of software and Eurorack hardware at Winter NAMM

REMAGEN, GERMANY: high-quality synthesizer developer Waldorf is proud to announce new software for Mac, PC, and iOS alongside its first Eurorack module at The NAMM Show 2015, January 22-25 in Anaheim, California...

Having seriously succeeded in changing perceptions of what a serious iOS instrument can be thanks to unique sounds simply unachievable with any other synthesizer, Waldorf has responded to requests to make its award-winning Nave advanced wavetable synthesizer available on other platforms by introducing Nave for VST/AU/RTAS. Now this new Nave brings that notable Nave sound engine to your favourite DAW. Designers have optimised its great graphical user interface to work with the tried-and-tested computer combo of keyboard and mouse (or track pad) rather than touch screen surface technology, though nothing has been lost in translation. The featured-packed Nave comes pre-packed with superb sounds, ranging from spatial pads to vivid wavetable scans and cutting leads to solid basses, but, above and beyond that, also an abundance of incredibly imaginative sound worlds — many of them professionally produced by some of the top sound designers around. As a synthesizer thoroughbred at heart, Nave really represents a phenomenal playground for sound creation creativity. Its oscillators offer expanded wavetable functionality with elaborate editing facilities and an extremely effective speech synthesizer. Anyone at all familiar with Waldorf software instruments will immediately feel right at home with the typical Waldorf workflow where sound shaping modules are always directly accessible and all arpeggiator, envelopes, effects (Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, Reverb, Equalizer, Compressor), and Modulation Matrix management controls are only one push of a virtual button away. Edited highlights include two independent advanced wavetable oscillators per voice with saw, triangle, PWM, white and pink noise (and up to eight-oscillator Überwave); two ring modulators; multimode filter (with LP/ BP/ HP, 12 dB, and 24 dB settings); three envelopes; two LFOs; and much more besides. And besides its standard yet classy chromatic keyboard, Nave also includes innovative ‘blades’ and pads to control the sound in different ways. Why restrict yourself to iOS? The new Nave now lets you work wherever and however you want. Whether you’re Mac- or PC- based, desktop-bound or laptop-mobile, Nave gives your professional productions a truly cutting-edge sound.

The nw1 Wavetable Module represents Waldorf’s grand entrance into the popular Eurorack modular synth system format. It includes an advanced wavetable engine with independent control of spectral envelope and noisiness — just like Nave. Wavetable scanning is cyclic with optional modulation of travel speed, position, spectrum, and more besides. By providing the worshipped Waldorf wavetable set from the company’s classic (discontinued) Microwave and Wave synthesizers, this powder-coated, metal surfaced module will easily enrich any Eurorack modular synth system as a potently powerful sound source. Shrewdly, the nw1 Wavetable Module’s sound engine also allows for onboard creation of user wavetables via time domain multiple foldover analysis. Any sound source can be connected to the nw1 Wavetable Module via the In 1 CV (Control Voltage) input to transfer audio into a wavetable. And if that’s left you speechless then how about using its integrated speech synthesizer to translate typed text into wavetables (via a USB port with galvanic isolation)! Speaking of communicating with the outside world, two further CV inputs are also provided alongside a Gate input (for triggering wavetable travel and recording) and a main 1V/Oct CV input with Trim (for pitch control). The 32HP-width nw1 Wavetable Module comes complete with a Eurorack power connector (+/- 12V, 150mA), so it’s ready for action. Simply slot the nw1 Wavetable Module into any available space in an appropriately-equipped Eurorack modular synth system to take it to a higher levels of synthesis than ever before. But be warned: you’ll want to shout from the rooftops!

Back in the wonderful world of iOS, Waldorf has masterfully migrated its long-running Attack virtual drum and percussion soft synth that took the VST world by storm back in early 2001 to iPad 3 (Retina), iPad mini (1 and 2), and iPad Air (1 and 2) as iOS Attack. Its impressive sound engine is cleverly complimented by an integrated 16-step sequencer that is as fun to use as it is useful. iOS Attack offers 24 instruments — each entirely programmable through a stunning, touch- optimised user interface. Its oscillators are fat, the filter flexible, and envelopes lightning fast. Each drum sound can be enriched with one of four independent insert multi-effects with Delay, Equalizer, Drive, Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, and Phrase Vocoder. Input lyrics, output song! Alter gender just as you’ve always wanted? Why not! Phrase vocoding technology apart, iOS Attack’s sound engine is also capable of producing powerful polyphonic synth/bass/lead sounds — perfect for creating full-blown backing sequences. Just like Nave, iOS Attack is a seriously in-depth musical instrument for iPads. It’s easy and fun for sure, but at its core it’s truly a sonic beast of an instrument, instrumental in inflicting out-and-out drum power — out of the tablet and into the walls!

Last but not least, tellingly, the classic Waldorf Edition has had a visual makeover, but its core values remain unchanged and unchallenged: the holy trinity of inspiring software instruments! PPG Wave 2.2V is a virtual reincarnation of its namesake cult classic, coming to prominence with the trailblazing PPG Wave series starting back in 1982. First resurrected in 1989 with the Waldorf Microwave, today it enjoys a new lease of life in virtual studios on Mac and PC computers. Classic wavetable synthesis is known for conjuring up the feisty analogue and digital hybrid sounds that have graced so many hit records over so many decades. Attack is a percussion synthesizer powered by an almighty analogue synth sound generator. It transports the trademark sounds of classic Eighties analogue drum machines and the progressive electronic club beats of the Nineties onwards and upwards into truly 21st Century production environments. As Attack computes all sounds in realtime, users can change any parameter directly. Aside from its radically revamped user interface, the new Waldorf Edition 2 version also brings an exceptionally expanded effects section (with Delay, Equalizer, Drive, Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, and Reverb) into play. D-Pole completes the Waldorf Edition 2 lineup as a very versatile filter plug-in with five filter types (lowpass, bandpass, high pass, notch, and resonator), SAMPLE RATE reduction, RING MOD, OVERDRIVE (ranging up to +52 dB), and stereo delay — all in wondrous Waldorf quality, of course... just like all of its new software and hardware products!

Nave for VST/AU/RTAS and Waldorf Edition 2 are expected to ship during the second quarter of 2015 when they will be available to buy online directly from Waldorf via the Waldorf Shop (www.waldorfmusic-shop.de) or through the company’s global network of dealers and retailers for €149.00 EUR (including tax) and €69.00 EUR (including tax), respectively. The nw1 Wavetable Module is also expected to ship during the second quarter of 2015 when it will be available to buy through the company’s global network of dealers and retailers for €329.00 EUR (including tax)."
