Canon 50D Magic Lantern - Winter Synth Composition

"A excerpt from a composition demonstrating sounds from the reFX Nexus 2 VST and the the TAL-U-NO LX VST (Juno 60 emulator). Using Ableton Live and the Alesis Q61 keyboard.

The video was shot on a Canon 50D with Magic Lantern Raw, filming in London during the wintry day of 27th February 2018.

Mostly shot in 5x zoom crop mode, 14 bit raw at 1920x1080 resolution. Some shots use full sensor mode (1568x882 resolution).

I used a Canon 17-55mm f2.8 lens, which unfortunately has a broken aperture but is still usable."

First time using the Digitakt to sequence the mini modular system. The samples on the Digitakt were previously made with that system. All together recorded straight to cassette. I added a bit of reverb in Ableton as I don't have a hardware reverb at the moment.

The video goes in and out of sync due to tape warble, nothing I can do about that. Hope you still enjoy it."

"Damned... A hidden camera was recording while I was clowning around in the studio :)

Same patch as this: [posted here] but sequence clock is slower.
Drum from DRM1 + Xpander, but also from Korg Electribe (BD, SD, HH).

In the last week of february I'm recording while sending a few voices out of the BugBrand to different tracks in Logic. So it's still recorded in one take, but on multitrack instead of direct to a stereo track like I'm used to do to not loose too much time with editing or whatever. I do it now so I can apply an effect or fade in/out separately if I want to. That's why sometimes you see me doing something , it's there, but you don't hear it."

"Just got a Digitone! Another awesome synth/sequencer from Elektron.

I decided to set a challenge for myself, to find my way around the machine, and FM synthesis in general.. The challenge was to create a close approximation of the OPL3 sounds in Doom, mostly for that great "chuck" snare that I've loved since I was a kid.

One thing led to another, and I found myself programming the note data in as well.. so here it is, plus a long jam of me playing with various sound settings.

I really love this synth so far, it has a sound so much more lush than any other FM synth I've used."
