Using Minilogue with pedals

"Probably after this video, you'll jump into some cheap but nice sounding Behringer pedals. Don't expect to the quality of a €400 pedal, we're talking here about two €50 Behringer pedals, but they do theyr work properly (and I got them both on a big fat discount! no, not from Behringer!).
So, Boss ODB-3 is here just for a little more gain, because, you know, Minilogue it's a little shy on its output.
Behringer FL600 - Flanger machine, used on a Analog Chorus preset.
RV600 - used with the Space preset. And here is my trick to make this Reverb Machine to sound better: I keep the Tone knob, a little to the left to the low register [wink]. This setting will cut its metallic resonance on the high ends.

Gotharman CS Filter 1/2: overview (LMS Eurorack Expansion)
Published on Sep 7, 2017 Learning Modular
"This is the first of two movies on the IG000155 version of the Gotharman CS Filter. In addition to being a 2-pole multimode filter based on the classic Yamaha CS filter chip (IG00156) and its organ variant (IG00155: more bass; supposedly less crazy resonance), the Gotharman version takes the crown from Polivoks clone for being the most insane, unstable filter I’ve heard when pushed with high signal levels combined with high cutoff and resonance settings. This movie demonstrates how to move it between tame 2-pole response and crazy bursts of high-frequency oscillation. I also briefly touch on its high and bandpass modes in addition to low pass.
The second movie – which dives deeper into its behavior (including spectrograph displays), plus spends more time exploring the other filter modes – is exclusive to my Patreon supporters: https://www.patreon.com/LearningModular

An Update on Deckard’s Dream

via Roman Filippov / Deckard’s Dream / Black Corporation
"First of all, we would like to thank you for your patience and bearing with us as we have been working hard to set up operations in Tokyo. It has been quite a wonderful experience working with new manufacturing partners in Japan, but there have been some challenges as well. The PCB factory, for example, had to redo the run because the first boards failed the flying probe test, which took some time. We now have the process better streamlined so things will go more smoothly moving forward.
That said, here are some updates about Deckard’s Dream!
DIY Kits:
We are almost ready with the DIY kits. The PCBs are being populated with SMT parts at the moment and should be ready to ship in about 2 weeks. The final revision of the Bill of Materials (BOM) will be posted on the Deckard’s Dream website within a week (There is a preliminary BOM posted on the Muff Wiggler website, however this is for reference only, it is not the final
revision, so please do not rely on it).
We are also currently working on and shooting photos for the detailed build manual.
Good News! We have omitted all of the trimmers, so there will be no calibration required.
There are still DIY kits available for sale.
Prebuilt Units:
The fully built units are also under production. We are currently waiting on the motherboards and voice cards from an SMT pick-and-place factory. Hardware part already done. We are looking to start shipping the first fully built units in about 3 weeks and aiming to have the whole batch out no later than mid-October.
We will email each customer a week before their order is ready to ship with a link to pay the balance and complete the order.
The next pre-sale of fully built units will go on sale once we get the first run shipped out.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at support@black-corporation.com.
Again, thank you for all of your patience!

It a rare Japanese four channel analogue drum synth made by Toyo Gakki in the 80's and used by Yellow Magic Orchestra. It is little noisy but fun to use and very cute with its case.
This version is modded with separate outputs for each sound, and being triggered via the Arturia Beatstep Pro.

Instruo - Scion // Modular Meets Leeds 2017
Published on Sep 7, 2017 DivKidVideo
"Here's the awesome new Scion module from Instruo. It's interfaces through a tens cable with a plant (as based on the MIDI Sprout device) and interfaces with the module. It's looking for changes in resistance and interfering with plant affects the signals but you can also play it from the touch capacitive plate on the panel or with a standard 3.5mm cable (plug in your output for a generative feedback based patch). The module creates notes (quantised, each with variable slew) across four voices based on the incoming signals and it also has a harmonic series mode to work with harmonic intervals as opposed to quantised musical intonation. It's a stunning bit of kit that was incredibly musical and interactive."

3 Modules #22: Maths, Brain Seed, µScale
Published on Sep 7, 2017 Comparative Irrelevance
"We all suspected Maths is evil. Now there's proof.
Patch notes:
I'm using Maths as a dual oscillator drone voice by cycling both functions at audio frequency rate. The "both" inputs are handy for this, as they let you change the rise and fall rates simultaneously, without altering the waveform. Unfortunately they don't track 1V/Oct, so I'm using channel 3 to attenuate the incoming pitch sequence to try to approach some semblance of musical intervals here. As you can see I'm also continuously tuning the oscillators via "the blue knobs"™, looking for interesting beating or harmonic intervals between the oscillators. Changing the rise or fall rate individually has the neat side effect of changing both pitch and harmonics (waveform) at the same time.
To control the drone pitch, I'm using brain seed to generate a stepped sequence. It's receiving a steady external clock to get the patch going. This sequence is then being quantized by the µScale, just to narrow down the random selection a bit (because Maths doesn't track pitch anyways, remember).
Finally, I've cheated in some extra delay and reverb here, to get that proper evil drone ambience going.
Thanks for watching!"

intellijel Plonk Walkthrough Videos

Playlist:
1. Plonk Walkthrough
2. Managing Plonk Presets With Laser Mammoth
3. Plonk Firmware Update
"Plonk uses a technique known as physical modelling to synthesize, with great realism, the way in which sound is produced by acoustic instruments. The Plonk module is, itself, focused primarily on creating percussive sounds — both pitched and un-pitched; natural and unnatural; acoustic-sounding or totally electronic.
Plonk does this by breaking sound creation into two distinct elements — the exciter and the resonator. The exciter is a mathematical model of the device used to strike a particular surface. Plonk, because it’s percussion oriented, has two types of exciters: one modelled on a mallet, and the other providing a noise source. The resonator is a virtualization of the object being struck, which vibrates, resonates and creates the body of a sound. Plonk offers several types of resonators: beam; marimba; drumhead; membrane; plate; and string.
Plonk provides numerous parameters that let you shape, mold and design both the exciter and the resonator, thus enabling you to synthesize the sound of striking or scraping almost any type of object — real or imagined. In this way, Plonk can accurately model the sounds of kicks, snares, toms, cymbals, claps, tablas, congas and all manner of traditional percussion instruments. It can also model pitched percussive instruments, like vibes, marimbas, and even bass or guitar-like tones. Of course, it additionally excels at modelling instruments that heretofore never existed.
Best of all, the sounds created by Plonk are not static — any sound you design can respond dynamically to velocity, as well as four different modulation inputs. This means the sound of Plonk can change completely from note-to-note (or strike-to-strike). Because of this, Plonk is actually a duophonic (2-voice) module, which lets the sound of one note decay naturally when a second note (possibly employing an entirely different set of modelling values) is struck. Thus, hitting a new note does not choke the sound of the previously struck note (unless you want it to, of course)!
Plonk stores up to 128 patches in its internal memory, and ships with many presets programmed by professional sound designers and composers. You may overwrite these patches if you wish, and banks of patches may be transferred via MIDI System Exclusive over Plonk’s built-in mini-USB port to facilitate offline storage by programs or websites that support this capability.
Plonk was developed in cooperation with Montreal-based Applied Acoustics Systems — physical modelling pioneers, and the creators of Tassman, Lounge Lizard, String Studio, Ultra Analog, Chromaphone and numerous other plugins. It is with great pleasure that Intellijel brings the potential of this physical modelling technology to a hands-on, CV-laden device capable of the sort of dynamic control and sonic exploration that modular synthesists demand.
Features:
Resonator section models strings, beams, marimbas, drumheads, membranes, and plates.
Exciter section comprises a realistic mallet model and flexible noise source.
Two Voice Polyphonic at full resolution (16-bit 44.1Khz).
Pseudo multi-timbrality possible via CV selectable presets recalled on each new trigger/gate.
Full parameter randomization and morphing via CV/trigger.
All synthesis parameters can be assigned to the X, Y and MOD controls.

intellijel Planar Overview Video
Published on Sep 7, 2017 intellijel
"This has to be one of the most fun modules we have ever played with! With just a few audio and CV sources and some inter dependencies (i.e use the Joystick CV to simultaneously modify the signals being processed by the VCAs) you quickly get highly complex sounds that you can easily control and play with.
Features:
Vector mixing: put up to four sources into inputs A, B, C and D and then use the joystick to create the vector mix. Positioning the joystick in any corner will isolate that particular source. Putting the joystick in the center will create an even blend of all four sources. Resulting mix is taken from the MIX output.
Quad Panning: Plug one source into input A and steer it to outputs A, B, C, D. You can also do stereo panning by just using a pair of outputs.
SENSE gate output. This is a slew detector which means the gate is only active when you are moving the joystick. Excellent for driving envelopes/VCAs to coordinate so that the output mix is only heard/used when the joystick is being moved.
Manual gate output: pushbutton to manually trigger a second gate output
CV outputs: The joystick produces either unipolar (0-5V) or bipolar (-5 to +5V) switchable outputs.
CV Inputs: The module accepts X and Y axis inputs. By using out of phase LFO sources (such as outputs from the Dr. Octature) you can create really interesting swirling/circular patterns.
This input is also very useful when coordinated with a CV recorder. You can record the modulation from the X, Y outputs and then turn the joystick off (see switch at top left) and playback the modulation into the X and Y input.
This will allow you to recreate a complex quad panning or vector mixing jam.
REVERSIBLE! The module ships with a second faceplate that is designed to mounted upside down (so joystick is at the bottom) and there are jumpers on the back of the module so you can coordinate the reversed orientation of the joystick. This is to facilitate use in a skiff. The instructions for reversing the panel are in the 'Demos' tab."

Quick Roland TR-08 & SH-01A Boutique Jam
Published on Sep 6, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio
"This video shows the 3 modes of the SH-01A. The drums come from the TR-08 which is clocking the sequencer on the SH-01A.
Based off of what is arguably the most important drum machine ever produced, the TR-808, Roland has meticulously modeled every component with their ACB technology making the TR-08. Vintage TR-808s can climb to prices in the thousands, and now one can have a playable piece of hardware for a fraction of the used price. Not only that, but it also includes USB/MIDI connection and a Trigger Out for synchronizing with other modular gear. Maintaining the sound quality and play-ability of the original, the TR-08 is the next step.
The SH-01A is meticulously modeled after the circuits of the SH-101, using Roland's patented ACB technology. The SH-01A builds on the design of the original, providing MIDI/USB interfacing, as well as CV and Gate outputs for controlling modular synthesizers with the built in sequencer. It also has an External clock input for synchronizing with external devices. With all the modern developments added to such a classic machine, nothing can stop the SH-01A.

Percussa Launches Limited-Time Slacker Backer Offer
via Percussa:
"PERCUSSA Completes Succesful Super Signal Processor Eurorack Kickstarter, Launches Limited-Time Slacker Backer Offer
Los Angeles, California - PERCUSSA completed its succesful month-long kickstarter campaign last Sunday, September 3rd, at 8AM PDT, reaching a total of $62,849 (314% funded, based on its original goal of $20,000), unlocking multiple stretch goals with additional features such as USB MIDI MPE support, and 10 additional DSP modules, including a powerful granular sound synthesis processor.
The kickstarter campaign it completed is for its new Super Signal Processor (SSP) Eurorack Module, for which development will begin immediately, and for which the first units are planned to ship in April 2018.
The SSP will be based on its PERCUSSA Engine and PERCUSSA Remote products, which were first presented last Winter NAMM 2017 in Anaheim, CA. Engine is a sound synthesis platform based on a powerful quad-core ARM Cortex A17 processor, delivering over 20,000 DMIPS, paired with high end AKM ADCs and DACs capable of 192khz sample rate and 32 bit resolution, and a full colour 1600x480 LVDS display. Remote is a professional USB control surface with high quality switches and encoders. Both Engine and Remote feature aluminium machined (CNC) housings and knobs.
The SSP will bring the same powerful sound synthesis capabilities to the eurorack format, and will feature 16 input channels and 8 output channels, USB host and device ports, and a micro SD card slot. It will also feature 4 high quality encoders and 18 durable switches, and the same 1600x480 full colours IPS LVDS display. The input and output channels will be provided using 3.5mm connectors, DC coupled, to support both audio and control voltage signals. The same high end AKM ADCs and DACs will be used for the inputs and outputs.
The kickstarter campaign is now over, but PERCUSSA has opened a limited-time only 'slacker backer' period, starting today, September 5th, and ending Friday September 15th, at 8PM PDT. Artists who wanted to back the campaign but did not have a chance to do so in time, can still pre-order an SSP module at the slacker backer price of $1650 + shipping. To do so they should contact PERCUSSA through the website at https://www.percussa.com/contact
After September 15th, this “slacker backer” offer will no longer be available, and the SSP will be offered for pre-order through PERCUSSA’s online store, and through select dealers, at a higher price point, to be announced in the next weeks.
For more information about the PERCUSSA Super Signal Processor (SSP) Eurorack Module, please see https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/percussa/percussa-super-signal-processor-eurorack-module"

Modular Workshop - Live @ Analogue Zone Showroom E02
Streamed live 31 minutes ago Analogue Zone Showroom / Synths and Studio
"Modular Workshop - Live from the Showroom
Modular Workshop is a weekly live series from the Analogue Zone Budapest showroom with our experienced modular electronic music performer & friend, Ramin Sayyah. The series was created in order to introduce either one particular module or a very special selection of module-combinations to make various kinds of music with them.
A new episode is streamed live every Wednesday on Analogue Zone's Youtube channel. After a short live performance, Ramin walks us through the building blocks of the patch and answers any questions raised by the viewers.
Tune in every Wednesday afternoon for the show and feel free to ask questions directly during the live stream - also let us know if you want to pay a visit to the showroom during the live show: we can accept a few guests too.
This week's episode focuses on one of the mightiest sequencers, the Stillson Hammer MKII. Thanks to its versatility and utilisation modes, Ramin will demonstrate the best uses of the pattern saving function and good combinations for its 4 CV and Gate outputs in the composition.
LET'S CONNECT!
