Published on Sep 11, 2017 7numan7

"This was the final Bugout Bunker performance from Knobcon 6. I (numan7) am playing the Shbobo Shnth (with my back mostly to the camera). Bryce (blz) and Erik (HeWhoWantsJeans) are jamming on Eurorack modular. And someone whose name I didn't catch was running the LZX video synthesis rig (creating the visual patterns on the screen behind us).

Enjoy!"

via this auction

"The JSQ-60 is a polyphonic sequencer connectable with DCB synthesizers such as the JUNO-60 or the JUPITER-8.

Due to its large memory capacity of approximately 2,000 notes, the JSQ-60 can memorize a complete musical composition . The JSQ-60 can also memorize changes in the patch memory of the JUNO-60. The JSQ-60 is capable of both real-time and single-step loading. In the real-time mode, all performances played by the keyboard are loaded. And in the single step mode, the pitch of each note is loaded in each step. While listening to previously loaded performances, you can overdub up to three times in real time. Shifting the JUNO-60's patch memory and starting/stopping the JSQ-60 can be controlled by the DP-2 pedal switch. A cassette interface is provided for limit less data storage. Two Sync out jacks are provided to sync with devices such as the TR-606 DRUMATIX or TB-303 BASS LINE."

EXPRESSIVE E TOUCHE REVIEW + UNBOXING + DEMO

Published on Sep 11, 2017 once upon a synth

"This is a Expressive E Touche review, unboxing and short demo. This is more of a first impressions video than a comprehensive review. I begin by unboxing the unit, talking about it briefly, sharing my initial thoughts and then doing a short demo with the Roland System 100 Model 101 vintage analog synth.

The Expressive E Touche controller is an expression controller that you can play with your hands. It includes a piece of wood that you touch and which is suspended on a series of springs. You can push it down from the top or bottom or rock it side to side. You can then assign up to 4 CV outputs and up to 4 MIDI CC values to control either digital or analog gear. You can also connect it via USB to control software instruments. You can also program your own presets and load them directly onto the unit to use standalone. Think of it like an expression pedal meets aftertouch on steroids.

My first impressions are that it feels really nice to the touch. It's really well designed and feels solid and sturdy.

Stay tuned to future videos where I will be pairing the touche with a eurorack modular and other synths."

RA Sessions: Legowelt

Published on Sep 11, 2017 Resident Advisor

"The Dutch artist performs a freaky extended live session.

This whole lo-fi, straight-to-tape, DIY aesthetic that’s so popular these days? Danny Wolfers invented it. OK, that’s an exaggeration. But it’s true that the Dutch artist has embodied these characteristics for longer than some of this style’s recent adopters have been alive. Wolfers gets additional respect for never wavering from these core tenets of his artistry. He’s popular, to be sure. He plays live all over the world, and he releases records on big labels like Clone and L.I.E.S. But he still clearly values unfiltered creativity above anything else.

Head over to his website. There’s a section for the Ableton plug-ins he makes and gives away. There’s a bit for his zine, Shadow Wolf Cyberzine. He writes reviews of old synthesizers, and has a section called Obseuriosa where you can download his weird, sample-based experiments. Then see his Discogs page. He has over 30 aliases, and he’s released two albums already this year. He called the first, A Vampire Goes West, “amateur space jazz meets professional ambient.” He described the second, Unfolding The Future With Amateur Space Jazz, as “a lo-fi minimal [wave-ish] version of cosmic space jazz and anything closely related to it... from spiritual soul, G-funk, Ethiopian jazz to ambient and everything in between.” (He wrote and illustrated a 24-page graphic novel for that one.) To summarise all of this in a few words, Wolfers is the real deal.

His RA Session is longest we’ve released so far, which was probably to be expected. He turned up to our London office last month with a trunk full of gear and, roughly speaking, performed five tracks. The first two are versions of forthcoming material, and from around 16 minutes onwards we get Wolfers in full-blown improv mode.

Roland Boutique D-05 Walkthrough with Legowelt

Published on Sep 11, 2017 RolandChannel

"In this video, producer Legowelt takes a closer look at some of the unique features of the new Roland Boutique D-05 Linear Synthesizer.

The D-05 includes many modern enhancements not available with the original D-50. The 64-step polyphonic sequencer is ideal for performance and music creation, and offers the ability to sequence shuffle and gate timing along with tempo and patch changes. You can create, save and recall up to 64 patterns. There’s also a built-in arpeggiator for adding movement to the D-05’s already evocative LA Synthesis sounds.

Plus, the D-05 features all of the sounds from the complete D-50 Sound Library featured in the rare D-50 Memory Cards. There are six Preset Banks and eight User banks for a combined total of nearly 900 sounds! All instantly available at the press of a button.

Every detail of the original has been carefully crafted from the Structure graphics on the panel, to the joystick for editing and tone mixing. This attention has carried through to the implementation of the same PCM samples and 16-voice polyphony as the original D-50"

You can find more posts featuring the D-05 here.

Tapographic Delay patch: Manual rhythmic tapping

Published on Sep 10, 2017 mqtthiqs

"A demo patch with the 4ms & Matthias Puech Tapographic Delay eurorack module.

The Tapographic Delay is fed with a simple melody from MI Rings. A rhythmic tapography is manually tapped; since I am a bad drummer, you can hear that the repeats line up imperfectly, resulting in a nice, human feel. I go on and add more taps at random; the repetitions add up into chaos; adding feedback and modulation, the density augments until the single notes almost cannot be heard anymore.

Direct take, no additional processing."

Grittywan -CALC- Novation Circuit, Mono Station Peak with Leploop, TR808 and SH101

Published on Sep 10, 2017 -CALC-

"Today I had a quick jam, the cameras were up so I recorded it.

All clocked from the 808 through the Mono Station, SH101's own sequencer triggered by the 808 CB out. Peak and Leploop share a line sequenced by Circuit's Synth 1.
I feel there's a certain groove with the 808 clocking the CMS and it seems to pass the clock nicely down the MIDI chain too.
Keystep is also cool changing MIDI channels and playing any of the connected beasts."

Delta VCF Euorack Filter Module Korg Clone Demo (Poly-61)

Published on Sep 10, 2017 gstormelectro

"The Delta VCF is my faithful eurorack clone of the Korg Delta synthesizer filter. The lowpass filter circuit was also found in the Poly-61. In this video I demonstrate the features and sound of the filter by running various signals, control voltages, and sequencing through it.

Features: Illuminated Frequency and Resonance Slider pots. Mix together two different input oscillators at the input jacks w/ signal attenuation/gain pots. These inputs can overdrive the filter. Modulate the filter cutoff with two different input control voltages w/ signal attenuation pots. Two select-able filter slopes: original 4-pole, and 2-pole. Two select-able filter modes: lowpass or bandpass. The filter is all analog, using the same OTA chips and dual transistor design of the original Delta.

Listening w/ headphones or quality monitors is recommended. Watch your levels, some resonance and filter overdrive settings may cause discomfort or strain your monitors. This demo was recorded direct to Tascam DR-05 through a Mackie mixer. No effects, no EQ, just some normalization on video edit."
