So I got the Abstrakt instruments Avalon bassline the other day, really missing the 303 style sounds since i sold my TB-3 it is safe to say my expectations were very high on this one.

I plugged it in, and it just took me into this hypnotic trance stage almost at an instant... i have no idea what was going on, I tried adding hihats, playing melodies on the volca keys, ms-20 etc.. but nothing felt right.. this 8 step sequence just wanted to breathe. And on my does it breathe and sound great. I'm completely blown away by this machine, possibly one of the best purchases I have made since I got my ms-20.

What you see and hear is me macro controlling the avalon knobs, cutoff, envelopes, accents to make it fluid and have the bassline progress over time .. also i did not want the other sounds to take too much space since this is all about the square bassline, period.

18 minutes might be a bit over the top with a 8 step sequence in 121 bpm, but man, i could easily play this for 20 minutes more :)

This is way more minimal in style that I normally do with BURG; but it felt so right to just take all the extra icing off of this one since the Avalon just wanted the space on this track.

Digitakt does the kick, rimshot, and a couple of dubby chords and a low-end sub-bass, volca bass does another filter modulated bass on top. FM does some stabs routed through the Avalon external in.

Modular sound sources, braids and rings background melodies + BIA for percussion.

Gear used: Abstrakt instruments Avalon, Elektron digitakt, KORG volca bass, KORG volca FM, tr-8 (just for sidechain FX on the volca bass).

FX used, RE-20 + Keeley caverns on modular, EQD space spiral and built-in FX in the Elektron analog four for the avalon.

"A library of kicks inspired and created with the Arturia Drumbrute and eurorack modular.

Brutal kicks have been recorded from "Kick 2" of the Arturia Drumbrute through various eurorack modules including the Serge ResEQ. Three different decay levels and accent on/off were captured, then processed through a few effect flavors to create a palette of kicks to build from! As you will hear, most of the kicks with a longer decay are perfectly capable of filling the role of a bass instrument as well. Have fun and get creative!

"This is the third song with the Red Sound Darkstar XP2. It's a table-top 8-voice polyphonic, 5-part multitimbral virtual analog synthesizer.

I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Darkstar XP2 - TC Electronic Mimiq - DigitTech Ventura Vibe - DigiTech Obscura - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. The used fx varied depending on the recorded track.

The signal goes via a small Behringer mixer straight into the pc.

To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with just a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track.

Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)"

"This is my rack for the 2017 edition of the Toronto Sound Festival. It’s a Mutable Instruments Anushri, a bunch of modules from PM Foundations and some stuff from Ladik. The three PM Foundations modules with blue knobs are going to be included in the giveaways.

I start off with the Anushri, doing a bass line and some drums, all coming from the Anushri. Then I fade in three VCOs from PMF, along with the filter, EG and dual VCA. I’m also using a Frequency Central LFO and a few extra modules from Ladik. At some point, I bring up some exponential FM in one PMF VCO, driven by the Synthola Sequencer, which is clocked from the Anushri. Then, using a Befaco Attenuvertor mounted behind a custom panel, I fool with some resonance modulation on the PMF 2Q12 Filter."

The pedal is simultaneously a homage to Austin’s psych rock heritage and a variation of their Ghost Echo pedal. In terms of the latter, the Levitation ditches the Attack and Dwell parameters in favor of controls for Tone, Decay, Atmosphere, and Length, affording it the ability to wear many different hats: the pedal can produce reverbs reminiscent of the classic 60’s chambers, springs, and plate reverbs of yesteryear.
