The Behringer DeepMind 12. WOW, just WOW! In this video I am demonstrating some of the more 'VINTAGE' sounds of the DeepMind 12. A little bit of tweaking going on, I'm not trying to show off any playing skills or 'HOW TO' stuff. Just showing the world the DM12's more 'Classic' or 'Vintage' types of analog sounds. Again, please TURN IT UP! REC volume was low.

I am actually REALLY HAPPY for the first time in a long time regarding a new ANALOG synth. It has proven itself very quickly, sounds GREAT & it's built very well!! It has such character! A+++

"This is a very rare PPG PRK. It has not been used for many years and I have no way of testing if it is still working so you should assume it is not.

It is the ROM based model with classic samples from the Waveterm Library stored in ROM for fast loading and without the need for Waveterm.

'The PPG PRK was created for a number of reasons; firstly many PPG owners wanted to have velocity sensitivity when using their PPG synths - the PPG PRK offers this.
Also the 'closer-to-piano-feeling' was something that musicians wanted at this time - the PPG PRK offers this as well.

The PPG PRK also offered optional voice boards to be inserted into the unit.
This does not mean that the PPG PRK itself can create any sounds - but by inserting the optional sound cards you could send the information on these to the PPG Wave 2.2, PPG Wave 2.3 or PPG EVU.'

"MAM MB33 Retro with Acid FM mods: This video shows the filter FM mod modulating the filter cutoff at audio frequencies using the internal square and sawtooth VCO waveforms as FM sources. It also demonstrates the Filter Lock mod that holds the filter and VCA open with no envelope, the resonance boost, and the overdrive mod.
The MB33 retro seems to be designed to slightly distort the output stage at full volume, much like the TB303 did. The Drive mod boosts this distortion savagely for some grungy acid techno sounds."

Protest comes in many forms, and no single genre can contain the musicians participating in Thursday’s program. Talib Kweli is a renowned recording artist, entrepreneur, and social activist who uses hip hop to educate, inspire and agitate. He is well known for his work combating racial stereotypes, the prison-industrial complex, and police brutality. Syrian artist-activist Omar Souleyman represents culturally diverse musical traditions that include Kurdish, Ashuris, Arabic, Turkish and Iraqi communities. Fearless noise rap poet and performance artist Mykki Blanco was raised in Raleigh, N.C., but has traveled the globe from art-world stomping grounds in New York to his current home in Los Angeles, spitting subversive rhymes on race and LGBT issues. British DJ/Producer BEARCAT makes politically-charged bass-heavy mixes and represents Discwoman, an esteemed collective showcasing cis women, trans women and genderqueer talent in electronic music. Raleigh-based band Pie Face Girls uses defiant punk music to promote a DIY ethos and attack issues like North Carolina’s HB2. Music is one of the oldest forms of protest, but each of these artists makes their causes urgent anew with the music and community they build.

Intermixed with the musical performances, technologists participating in the Moogfest Protest stage program will present recent and developing projects that empower and facilitate social action. Gan Golan and Ron Morrison of NEW INC present their countersurveillance armor for citizens, The Argus Project, a head-to-toe mobile suit embedded with cameras that allows the wearer and its audience of remote viewers to monitor and record environmental behaviour. Taeyoon Choi, also of NEW INC, presents a protest sign-making workshop, exploring signs as a poetic medium for social engagement in an inclusive space that promotes learning from people with differing views and priorities. Halsey Burgund of MIT Open Doc Lab and Joe Zobkiw present the Land Marking app, which captures the sounds of social movements around the world. During the festival, attendees are invited to contribute their voices or listen to the location-based mix of music and voices contributed by previous participants. Vivan Thi Tang, a postgraduate in the Graduate Entrepreneur program at Goldsmiths University in London, created a customized beta of her irlbb app for Moogfest 2017, that presents a unique opportunity for participants to connect with potential collaborators.

"This is basically a Roland TR-909 drum machining clone. If you want one, you can either buy a used one, or build one yourself. To build one, you need to obtain the printed circuit boards from Hexinverter.net, then source the components and then solder them in place. You may or may not have issues though. In my case, they high Tom is wonky due to the selection of capacitor types, and a potentiometer (the dial), which is causing feedback through the circuit. But for the most part, it sounds decent enough."

"Using the QU-Bit chords quad envelope Rhythm and Wave polyphonic sampler for main sound. The Varigate 8 is being used for extra cv to movie around the pitch on the wave sampler. All of the audio is being put thru the Intellijel Linix and being gated by maths and quad Qu-Bit envelope a bit of compression in the end by the WMD MSCL stereo compressor.

Triggering the Qu-Bit Wave sampler with the Qu-Bit Rhythm for drums, the Qu-Bit Chord adds chords over the drums. The Varigate 8 is being used for extra cv to movie around the pitch on the wave sampler. All of the audio is being put thru the Intellijel Linix and being gated by maths and Qu-Bit Contour quad envelope. Some compression is added by the WMD MSCL stereo compressor.

Rhythm, from Qu-Bit Electronix, is a four channel trigger sequencer with built in rhythmic patterns. Each of the four channels have a rhythmic variation knob and corresponding CV input, to offset or change the rhythm out of that channel. The four channels each have their own outputs as well as mute buttons, for ease of mixing. There are four genre banks, each with twelve patterns, making a total of 48 grooves, not including the variation. Both the Genre and Pattern parameters can be voltage controlled. Rhythm makes it extremely easy to match tempos to a DAW, having a BPM read out of the internal clock (controlled by the large center knob), although one is not slaved to this. It also has a Clock In, in case it needs to be something other than a master clock. Reset and play buttons add some performative features for live adjustments.

The Qu-Bit Wave is a high-quality 4-channel sample playback module. Offering four channels of one-shot playback from SD card, the Wave even features varispeed / pitch control for each channel.

"Patch notes:
Ornament & Crime in Automatonnetz mode sends voltage to four sound sources: PIttsburgh Waveforms, Braids, Clouds, and Disting in waveshaping VCO mode. The BSP sends triggers and CV to change the root note of the triad.

Waveforms is performing root note duty and is sent to Ripples. dlADSR generates an envelope patched to Gain in Ripples. Braids and Disting are sent to the Optomix and modulated by Peaks in bouncing ball envelope mode.

Braids is in WMAP mode and has a slow LFO, attenuated by ModDemix, patched to Color. Disting is in wavefolding VCO mode is similarly patched.

Clouds is in pitchshift/timestretch mode. An envelope from dlADSR, attenuated by ModDemix, is patched to Texture which behaves kinda like an LPG. I'm wiggling the Position, Size, Density, and Texture to create different sounds.

BitBox is loaded with vintage drum machine samples (Oberheim DMX) and sent to Analogue Solutions SY02 Filter for crunchifying.

Mixing and audio output is done with Happy Nerding 3xMIA and PIttsburgh Mix Mult.

Audio is routed into the OP-1 for processing with the CWO effect. There are some audio loops triggered from the tape as well."

The on-board sequencer is a really nice feature. If only my CS30L had a similar sequencer... . I spent only about an hour on this machine so this video is only scratching the surface. I didn't test out cv connectivity or any external sequencing/triggering. We nerds all know, that's when the fun starts. I also hit some notes on a SC Pro 2."
