"Studio Electronics offers an 'Overdrive' option for its all-analog CODE synthesizers. If you produce industrial music or other aggressive styles, it's worth checking out.

I produced this with 24 bit / 96 kHz audio, but am a YouTube hack, so not sure it'll survive the transcoding. Let me know. Also, there's a very subtle touch of reverb on this track. Otherwise, it's a dry demo.

Enjoy."

"Ableton MIDI loops are sync'd to Moog Mother-32 sequencers via Expert Sleepers Silent Way and an ES-8 to a Make Noise Tempi, where Ableton's clock is multiplied and divided to various parts of the rack. The Moog DFAM is connected to a Strymon BigSky, and all other sound sources are running through Ableton's reverb and delay via the ES-8 inputs, which is also triggering the lighting. I'm controlling the colors of the lights and state changes on the Tempi with Lemur on my phone, taped to the top of the camera."

Alright Devices Chronoblob and T-Wrex on a simple sine wave sequence

Published on Jun 14, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio

"The Alright Devices Chronoblob and T-Wrex work together on this patch to create effects for a simple sine wave sequence. The Chronoblob Delay is tempo synched with the sequence and the T-Wrex is in the feedback loop of the delay, bit crushing and reducing the sample rate of the repeats. The patch is clocked by the 4MS QCD with the Frap Tools Sapel changing the clock divisions for a type of ratcheting, the Make Noise Pressure Points and Rene sequence two Intellijel Dixie II+ VCOs and a Doepfer A-110-4 VCO. Envelopes are Generated by the Make Noise Maths and the Optomix is used for VCAs and a mixer into the Chronoblob.

The T-Wrex Bitcrusher and Decimator, from Alright Devices, is their next installment of high quality audio effects in the Eurorack modular realm. In addition to audio effects, when fed in low frequency content, the T-Wrex can also function as a type of sample and hold stepped modulator. With ample control, and attenuverters for every CV input, one can dial in the perfect amount of wet/dry mix and timbral character. The Bitcrusher part is also followed by a "Decimator," which also has its own individual input, allowing the Bitcrusher and Decimator to be used independently.

The Chronoblob is a unique delay for the eurorack format. One of the most alluring aspects of a delay are tempo-synchronized delay times, with clock divised delays for rhythmic overlap and layering. There are few delays in the Eurorack format that allow for this option, and the Chronoblob is here to solve that problem. With the Sync input, one can lock the delay time to the exact groove of ones music, or send it sporatic gates for a crazy asynchronous delay effect. A clock division/multiplication knob decides how the delay repeats use musically rhythmic relationships, from x5 to /5.

Engine (feat. Elissa LeCoque of Kodacrome)

A new track featuring supporting MATRIXSYNTH Member, Symbion Project. You can also find the track on SoundCloud here.

"ELYXR is a brand new collaborative-band concocting modern synthpop potions. Spearheaded by Seattle-based electronic music songwriter/producer Kasson Crooker (Symbion Project, Freezepop, Rocococo), ELYXR will release a string of singles this summer, each a collaboration with a different singer/songwriter. The debut track “Engine” was co-written with Elissa LeCoque of the Brooklyn indie-electronic act Kodacrome (@kodacrome) and features Elissa’s distinct vocal stylings.

Kasson met Elissa when he opened for Kodacrome in Brooklyn with his cinematic downtempo band Symbion Project, and knew immediately that they should collaborate on a song together. 'Engine' is a hybrid of Kasson & Elissa's pop sensibilities. The track demonstrates their collective passion for layered melodies, winding synthesized progressions, and ardent belief that sometimes you just have to dance off the sadness."

Intellijel Rainmaker Tutorials

Published on Jun 14, 2017 intellijel

"The Intellijel/Cylonix RAINMAKER eurorack-format module provides a high-quality (96KHz sampling rate with 32-bit internal processing) stereo rhythmic delay and stereo comb resonator effect."

Playlist:

1. Intellijel/Cylonix Rainmaker - Delay Section Tutorial
"In this video we focus on the Rhythm Delay section. The stereo rhythm delay has 16 taps, each with its own resonant 2nd-order filter and granular pitch shifter. The filters have independently adjustable resonance and cutoff frequency, and can be set to either lowpass, bandpass, highpass or bypass operation. The filters are also capable of self-oscillation, enabling modal synthesis techniques. The granular pitch shifters have a range of 15 semitones up or 16 semitones down. Each tap can repeat at a rate value set in tap#’s in order to create regenerating echo effects. The feedback signal has a lowpass/highpass tone control and its own pitch shifter. The tap delay times can range from 0.1 millisecond up to a maximum of 20 seconds. The overall delay times can be set with the rotary encoder, the tap tempo button, or synced to an external clock."

2. Rainmaker - Utility Operations Tutorial
"In this video we look at the Utility Operations section made up of Routing & Config, Meters & Gain, Save/Load, and the Mod Controls."

3. Rainmaker - Comb Resonator Section
"In this video we move on to the Comb Resonator section. The stereo comb resonator section has 64 time-delayed taps which are summed together. This produces a deep comb filter or resonating effect. At large comb sizes (long time delays) a multiple echo effect is produced. The density of the resonator can be varied from 1 tap all the way up to 64 taps."

4. Modal Synthesis With Rainmaker
In this tutorial we explore how to use the Rainmaker as a Modal Synthesizer.

5. Managing Rainmaker Presets With Laser Mammoth
Rainmaker presets can be managed using a free online utility called Laser Mammoth. In this video we will learn how to use it and what it can do.

6. Rainmaker - CV Selection of Presets

7 Karplus Strong Synthesis on the Rainmaker
The Rainmaker is uniquely capable of generating tones using Karplus Strong Synthesis. In this video we learn how to accomplish this, along with some tips and techniques to try.

"The Intellijel/Cylonix RAINMAKER eurorack-format module provides a high-quality (96KHz sampling rate with 32-bit internal processing) stereo rhythmic delay and stereo comb resonator effect.

The overall delay times can be set with the rotary encoder, the tap tempo button, or synced to an external clock.

The stereo comb resonator section has 64 time-delayed taps which are summed together. This produces a deep comb filter or resonating effect. At large comb sizes (long time delays) a multiple echo effect is produced. The density of the resonator can be varied from 2 to 64 taps. The tap with the longest delay time is fed back to the input. High feedback levels, with short comb sizes, produce “Karplus-Strong” types of plucked string sounds. The relative timing of the 64 taps are set according to one of 16 different preset patterns, which provide different resonator timbres or echo rhythms. The comb size can be set either with the rotary encoder, an external clock or through a transposable 1v/oct input voltage.

The Rainmaker module has extensive voltage control capabilities. Direct voltage control is available for the delay feedback level and tone, the global pitch shift for all delay taps, the comb resonator size, and comb feedback level. There are two assignable modulation inputs, which can be assigned to different parameters in each preset. A trigger input with assignable functionality can trigger built-in types of noise bursts, freeze the delay buffer, reverse the delay, randomize parameters, mute taps, and much more."

XAOC Devices Drezno and Lipsk Compute Lofi and Distorted Drum Loops and Turn LFOs into Sequencers

Published on Jun 14, 2017 Perfect Circuit Audio

"Demonstrating some of the unique features of the XAOC Drezno and Lipsk Eurorack Modules. The Drezno is an 8bit ADC and DAC that can be use for bit reduction or shuffling, or many other things. The internal high frequency clock can be overridden with a slower one for sample rate reduction sounds. The Lipsk expander allows you to invert bits between the ADC and DAC for massive amounts of distortion.

The first part of this video shows the Drezno and Lipsk distorting a drum loop that is playing on a Make Noise Morphagene. The second part shows how these modules can turn an LFO wave from an Intellijel Dixie II+ into a melodic sequence as well as a weird drum sequence, triggering two Erica Synths Pico Drums.

The Piino Portable Synthesizer by Jack Marple

Note this appears to be more of a design concept vs. an actual product in the works. An upcoming Axel Hartmann?

via Jack Marple's website:

"Jack Marple graduated from Arizona State University in May 2016. He is currently an industrial designer at TEAGUE in the Seattle area."

on the Piino:

"electronic music equipment can be bulky

The goal of PIINO is to create a compact, versatile and intuitive tool for musicians to capture ideas while on the go."

Teenage Engineering's OP-1 immediately comes to mind. Still cool though. New ideas are always interesting.

And via iF World Design Guide:

"Piino is a portable synthesizer that allows electronic musicians to create music on the go. Designers and artist have ways to record thoughts and ideas by sketching it in a sketchbook. Musicians have no such thing. Piino is the solution to this problem; it helps musicians express and compile musical ideas while they are traveling. It is a synthesizer and workstation that includes a 10 key range, customizable effect knobs and sliders, an interactive touch screen, and a trackpad for extra sound manipulation. Piino folds up and becomes a portable device that can go anywhere with you. Piino makes creating music on the go finally possible."

Minimmoog Model D Processed by Eventide H8000FW

Published on Jun 14, 2017 Meta Function

"In this video, Meta Function demonstrate processing a vintage Moog Minimoog Model D via an Eventide H8000FW FX processor.

The H8000FW is arguably the most powerful and comprehensive FX processor ever made. It features two powerful DSP chips that can each run a high quality algorithm independently, 16 channels of simultaneous I/O and almost 2,000 post-production and music effects presets including high quality pitch shifting or harmonization via adaptive re-synthesis. The H8000FW provides a modular like effects structure, in which the user could arbitrarily patch together a series of delay lines, filters, reverbs, flangers and pitch shifters to create unique bespoke effects. This system was first available via the 'Patch Factory' patch on the infamous H3000 Ultra Harmonizer released in 1989 and is still an integral part of many of Eventide's devices today.

In this video the Moog is run through DSP A. Various tempo sync'd filter, reverb, pitch shift and delay based algorithms are loaded and the wet/dry balance is adapted, at times to 100% wet. Often parameters within the loaded algorithm are manipulated. Occasionally the cutoff frequency of the filter on the Moog is tweaked.

Audio recorded via Calrec S2 console and SSL convertors. All dry, no FX, EQ or compression. The only post production performed was normalization.

Sequenced via a Sequentix Cirklon.

Watch at 1080p with good quality audio monitoring for the best experience.

Meta Function developed the Max For Live synthesizer, the Wave Junction in partnership with Sonicstate.com. A four voice paraphonic synth with 2 multi-mode osc, three multi-mode filters, 5 LFOs, 5 Envs and a 12 slot modulation matrix.

You can buy it from Sonicstate right here for £19.95:
