New Quadrangle - Quad Cascading Triggered Envelope Generator demo - EURORACK - Synthrotek
Published on Sep 15, 2017 synthrotek
via Synthrotek
"The Quadrangle is quad cascading triggered envelope generator with bipolar output attenuversion. Each channel has voltage control over attack and decay/release, end of attack and end of cycle trigger outputs, and mode (AR, loop and AD). Each channel's EOC is normalled to the next gate input, resulting in interesting rhythmic opportunities. Channel 4 has a "stop" or "continuous looping" switch which allows either a "one shot" cascaded envelope or continuous cycling. The SUM output allows for longer and more dynamic bipolar envelopes perfect for interesting modulation. Users can also voltage control all of the attacks and decay/releases simultaneously when using the ALL A and ALL D/R input jacks. Massive function generation, modulation, rhythm and versatility sets the Quadrangle in a class of its own.
Features:
4 Cascading envelope generators
Attenuverters for each envelope output (dial in that secret sauce!)
Attack, Decay/Release and Loop modes per channel
Super fast ~2 mS (Audio Rate) envelopes
CV over Attack and Decay/Release per channel
CV over ALL Attack and ALL Decay/Release
Bipolar Voltage SUM output of all envelopes
End of Attack & End of Cycle trigger outputs per channel
Normalled EOC to next channel Gate input (broken when jack is patched)
One Shot or Continuous Looping of all channels"

DIY Benjolin Synthesizer - Test Drive
Published on Sep 15, 2017 Sysex|Studio
Update: video was re-uploaded.
"This is my first time trying out the standalone Benjolin synthesizer I built in a DIY workshop at Knobcon Number Six, September 2017. Outstanding sounds you can get from this thing with a little fiddling around.
Here I have two separate channels of step sequencing from the Korg SQ-1 controlling the pitch of each oscillator. Oscillator two's pulse output is clocking the SQ-1 well into audio rates.
Looking forward to interfacing this with my modular system later.
Thanks to Pete Hartman of Frogleg Synthesis for this implementation of the Benjolin and for spending all day doing this workshop."

TipTop Audio Z8000 Ping Patch
Published on Sep 15, 2017 xtal
"This is just a simple ping patch with some tricky modulations.
Livewire Vulcan and the Turing Machine+Pulses provide multiple clocks for the different rows of the TipTop Z8000 Matrix sequencer.
Serge VCFQ and Serge Wave Multipliers are the audio generator and processor.
The Z8000 controls the patch...
Horizontal Snake sequencer , fed into the QuantiZer , controls the frequency of the VCFQ , that is pinged by the Turing machine pulse.
Row 2 modulates the clock of the Vulcan
Row 3 controls the direction of the Vertical snake sequencer
Row A controls the amount of Fold of the Serge Multipliers.
Vertical snake Sequencer controls the VCFQ VC Q
The manual tweaking are limited to :
the VCFQ VC Q to achive a different decay time
the manual amount of Fold in the Wave Multipliers"

Polyfusion Modular System at Knobcon
via Paul Schilling
"I was at Knobcon on Saturday...it could have been an elaborate dream but there was a Polyfusion booth, with a beautiful Polyfusion modular, and a very nice man told me reassuringly that they were bringing all of the modules back. They were even working on a poly synth using the same circuitry. Did anyone else have the same dream?"
According to the people bringing back the Polyfusion:
"The machine at the show is new old stock. Although we look young, we are working with and have exclusive license with Polyfusion in NY. Please get all the facts before spreading misinformation!!! We worked very hard to have this opportunity.
Polyfusion will be manufacturing the modules so they will be coming straight from them."

At first I thought this might be a limited version of the JU-06 different from standard versions, but apparently all JU-06s are limited-edition per Roland. Curious how many were made. If anyone knows feel free to leave a comment. I did a quick search and it appears to be sold-out at most shops. This listing is in via a supporting member of the site.

YepYep -CALC- Novation Peak, Circuit and Mono Station, Digitakt, Leploop, TR 808 and SH101
Published on Sep 15, 2017 -CALC-
"All clocked from the TR808- sending sync to the CMS which is passing the clock further down.
Loving the chewy SH101 sound being triggered buy the TR808 to. it plays wonderfully with the rest of the gear too.
This track was born out of putting some new samples into Circuit for a work video (thanks to Lucky Catz for the samples too). Its such a complete set-up I'd be happy with this little lot ever more!
Also massive shout to the Leploop again, it truly is one of my favourite ever devices (needs the MIDI tuning calibrating though).
The middle build up is the Leploop with a wonderful pinging FM tone over the top from PEAK. I kinda went over the top with some reverb from the Big Skies but why not.
CMS is on audio processing duties only on this one with the Circuit and Digitakt passing through a filter sequence and some (sometimes more than some!) distortion. The audio pass through is some serious processing and really can breath life into anything that's a little static.
Finally got to road test my new Dynacord Echocord 100 straight outta Budapest (Thanks Imo!). Its a beast and whilst the tape delay is exactly what I was after, I didn't realise its a killer pre-amp too. The 808 through the drive of this sounds incredible.
I think this set-up is a keeper (although sadly the TR808 isn't..... aaahh One day..... )
Oh yeah I forgot to wear my watch!
Hope you enjoy it

ROLAND SYSTEM 100 MODEL 101 + TOM OBERHEIM SEM PRO ~ Will They Pair? Ep.31
Published on Sep 15, 2017 once upon a synth
"Pairing the Roland System 100 Model 101 with the Tom Oberheim SEM Pro. The Roland Model 101 is the keyboard synth part of the System 100 series which was a system of synths made by Roland in the 70s. The Tom Oberheim SEM Pro is a reissue of the classic Synthesizer Expander Module (SEM) which he made in the 70s to expand existing modular synths at the time.
Together these pair quite nicely because they both sound amazing and they're both semi-modular. This means that they both expose patch points so you can access different components like the oscillator and filter.
In this video I take advantage of the external audio input of the Model 101 to add a second oscillator via the SEM. This is easy because the SEM exposes both of its oscillators via the patch panel. So all you have to do is patch the keyboard CV from the model 101 into the CV control of one of the oscillators on the SEM. Then, you simply patch the output of the waveform you want into the external input on the Model 101.
I also go through different types of patching in the video like replacing the envelope generator of the 101 with the SEM's envelope."
Introducing: KOMA Strom Power System
Published on Sep 15, 2017 KOMA Elektronik
"Strom is a strong, reliable and cost effective power solution for the Eurorack modular system. Both Strom and Strom+ modules offer short circuit protection, a replaceable fuse and an ultra low ripple on all rails. The input voltage is 15V DC (we offer a high quality 15V PSU from CINCON in our bundles) and the output to the modules is 1,5A on both +12V and +5V rails and 1,0A on the -12V rail. It can be used with normal busboards and flying busboards.

One active module can power up multiple skiffs thanks to the Strom Passive Module that distributes the power and can be linked to an active or another passive module with the two link connectors on the front panel of the module."

Seqic Chaotic Sequencer - BETA progress!
Published on Sep 15, 2017 transient (noisyvagabond)
Like a pinball sequencer.
"Seqic Chaotic Sequencer is a project I've been playing with off and on for the past few years. I've had a version up on a couple sites that was more of a proof of concept than anything. It was simply a single bank of sounds and a limited number of effects. I've added quite a bit in terms of visuals and effects and have reached ten banks per spinner. I'd like to have 99 banks per spinner (which should give an insane amount of possible combinations) when I complete the project so lots of work ahead. The sequencer is certainly not meant to be a serious music creation tool but rather a fun toy to play around and make some really strange noises with. Mostly it's just a glitch machine that makes horribly unlistenable 'music'. The balls randomly traverse the field and trigger random effects. You can add more balls/notes/effects by dragging them from their containers. The program was made with Construct 2 an HTML5 based engine."

Steampunk Mutable Instruments Shruthi Synth Digital/Analogue Hybrid

"Shruthi synthesizer (electronics designed by Mutable Instruments) in a steampunk vintage style box with brass panel. It is a digital/analogue hybrid monophonic synthesizer with digital oscillators but analogue filter and VCA. This one is fitted with the "4-pole mission" variable state filter with several flavours of resonance. Four extra knobs have been added to control the Shruthi's CV inputs and their function can be programmed uniquely for each patch using the routing matrix. (Note: by default they do nothing unless allocated in the routing matrix).
The operation manual can be found here.
Just for clarity, Shruthi is an open source design and the "official" Mutable PCB's have not been used in this build. However the electronics are 100% as per the Mutable Instruments design. I am a Mutable "Trusted Builder".
The "light bulbs" are actually LED's cunningly designed to look like light bulbs. There is a battery compartment (6 x AA) on the underside for portable use, but it can also be powered externally via the socket on the back. The brass is beginning to show a "patina" which adds to the vintage feel."
