"Serial #181894. This Jupiter 8 is the more dependable 14bit model. It tunes up, plays and sounds like a dream! Please view my video below [above] which shows the inside and outside of this Jupiter 8 and has a music track I created from this synthesizer in the background. I have owned it about 3 years. It has Encore midi installed by Switched On electronics in Austin, Texas. I have used the midi in a very limited role so I do not know much about it as I am not much of a midi guy. Power supply was recapped by Switched On as part of a preventive maintenance. A new lithium battery has been installed. Everything works properly. Sliders work smoothly. Buttons respond as they should. Keys work as they should. I have made a ton of Youtube videos with this Jupiter 8 if you want to check those out just look up Synthartist69 Jupiter 8 [plenty posted here on MATRIXSYNTH]. Cosmetically it is in great shape other than wear and touch up on the ROLAND logo on the back. I still play this synthesizer at least two to three times a week in my SMOKE FREE home. Why am I selling? I am raising cash to build a new home. I have been selling on Ebay since 2001 and have 100% feedback there as well if you would like to check that out. This Jupiter 8 is the real deal, not some synth being sold by someone who doesn't even know how to play it or how it works. It is my favorite analog ever created by far and it hurts to sell it."

In this video I’m running the saw wave of a Moog Mother 32 through the wave fold section of the unit. Later on in the video you will notice I patch the pulse wave into the ring mod section creating an even thicker cyborg-ish sound. The slider format of the FOLD module is very playable and begs to be tweaked in real-time even though it has an input to modulate with CV."

I’m using the onboard sequencer to play a little melody over some soft pad chords and when they are played over each other it’s this nice mushy rhythm that I think sounds pretty cool. "The little joke in the video stems from Swedish House Mafia and their track 'One'. This was a big club hit that sped up a looping bass drum sample into an audio rate tone and then the main riff was made from that. That's what I'm doing here with a looping sample chopped up into increasingly short loops to form a steady tone then using the pitch manipulation (which is wide ranging and amazing quality!) to create perfectly 1v/oct tracking new synth tones, really cool. The joke about Pharrell needing to sing on it so the radio will play the track (it's just a video demo patch, no real 'tracks') is down to the track 'One' having Pharrell added to a version of the track and then radio playing the track everywhere, all day for a long time. I thought I best explain that as I know some of you won't be interested in or follow much from the "pop world". Just having some fun with the patch, it's a great way to create new tones. Next video will be looking at one shot drum sounds and the linear FM.

"Albert Van Abbe has been releasing gritty, atmospheric techno for over a decade on underground labels like Semantica and his own No Comment imprint, so we figured he'd know his way around a synth well enough to make a track in 10 minutes for our Against The Clock series.

However, we were completely unprepared for what we got when we caught up with him at the Willem Twee studios in the Dutch city of 's-Hertogenbosch. There, he opted to make his track on a giant wall of oscilloscopes, pulse generators and filters from the 1950s and '60s along with an ARP 2500. Eurorack this is not."

A more complex demo using the arches as the centerpiece of an improvisation. Left part is used as a position sensitive keyboard that drives one of the Modulor114 oscillators and the cutoff of the other oscillator (driven by a TuringMachine and the internal M114 quantizer). The second lightstrip opens the drum VCA, the third drives the bitcrusher that shreds a rhythmic pattern generated with a filter. The last lightstrip is used as a quantized controller that controls an SD1simpledrum in synth mode with a string patch bathed in the SD1 internal reverb....

A dual voice, dual machines, demo (just the Modulör114 as sound source). Lefthand drives the main voice (saw wave and vcf) and three lightstrips used as: #2:pitch(quantized) to the second VCO, #3: triangle waveshaping and #4: triangle LFO amount to voice1 VCA. Internal Modulör114 effect used for the delay.

Left pad gate pings the filter of the Modulör114 with a short envelope and the Y axes modifies the filter freq. Right pad plays a whole tones scale on the X and changes the freq of the second VCO used as an LFO 9 on the X axis. The second lightstrip on the right side modulates the PWM of VCO1.
On the ((arches)) thumbpads are always available at outputs (x,y and pressure). You can choose individually to use a gate output or not.

5. (arches) prototype demo 5

Two keyboards drive two voices of the Modulör114. Left keyboard (KB3) drives the first VCO and sets the pwm with the slider position. Left thumbpad drives the VCF of the second VCO that is driven by the upper buttons keyboard (KB1).

6. (arches) prototype demo 6

In this ambient/melodic oriented demo, the (arches) controls three voices coming from two Modulör114 synths, a shaped triangle for the "solo" part, a composed heavily pwm'd bass and a saw/sub arpeggio. Each of those parts are controlled in timbre by some features of the (arches). Enjoy.

Volca Keys sends sync out to the tek.drum, both audio signals are mixed with the hub and send out thru a ping pong delay of the Kaosspad to the Yamaha Pocketrak recorder. That's all.

"Live bass (still getting my chops back..it was one take, sorry for the bum notes) over several bass tracks, harmonic/chords and bassline, recorded into the Digitakt.
Being able to record via the headphone output on the Alpha Omega Ultra straight into the Digitakt is awesome!
Multitrack beats were sequenced then re-sampled down to single audio files and mapped to trigs.

Here are very simple examples of all of the arpeggiator styles now included in the MIDI Arpeggiator Effect:

1. UP
The arp plays the notes performed from low to high.

2. DOWN
The notes are played from high to low

3. UP/DOWN
The notes are played from low to high, and then from high to low.

4. RANDOM
The notes are alternated between randomly.

5. ASSIGN
The notes are played back in the order they were originally played. Thus, a late note will be played last.

6. DOUBLE
Each note is played twice.

7. OCT UP
Each note is played twice - the second is pitched one octave up from the original

8. OCT DOWN
Each note is played twice - the second is played one octave down from the original.

9. DRUNK
Plays the first three notes, and then three notes based from the second note, then three notes based on the third note in a circular fashion.

10. FIFTHS
Each note is automatically followed by its fifth note harmony.

11. ONE TWO

Emulates a bouncing ball rhythm. Velocity decreases over time. My use of the 303 is not the ideal synth voice for this demonstration. Much like midi delay, a monosynth is less likely to produce super interesting results.

16. RHYTHM 1/2/3
The last three styles are custom rhythms, with fixed lengths. They contain silences and velocity variations (respectively.)

So far, despite its beta status, pyramid os 3 seems like a brilliant step forward, including so many of the user's requests and ideas. Such a fantastic device, and a wonderful company.
