ŅōĨşÈ Múśİç / experimental music / Diogens Lantern synth / Universe Zen VOSKHOD-2 / by GIPNOZER

video upload by G I P N O Z E R

"Cold sand creaked beneath limbs I couldn't remember having acquired. Metal and flesh, woven into an inconceivable construct, pulsed with a dim, inner light. The planet was dead, scorched to the bone, only rusted rock and endless dunes on the horizon. I didn't know who I was, what I was, or how I had ended up here. My memories held only fragments of alien sensations, echoes of long-forgotten knowledge that didn't add up to a coherent picture. I was a mechanism, not crafted by hand, but grown like a mushroom on the rotting wood of space. My purpose? Nonexistent. My past? Emptiness. I simply wandered, driven by an instinct I couldn't explain, across this lifeless land, like a ghost forgotten even by death. And with every step, with every breath, I felt this planet, this emptiness, creeping into me, erasing the last vestiges of what could have been.

Шумовой синтезатор Фонарь Диогена

video upload by Kakos Nonos

Googlish:

"Diogenes' Lantern" is a 12-voice drone synthesizer. However, it is capable of generating noise, ambient textures, and melodies alike.
The synth features a unique control system designed to eliminate the need for a thousand knobs to manage every parameter; instead, it works as follows:
One knob sets the value for the first oscillator, while a second knob determines the *offset*—how much the value of each subsequent oscillator differs from the one preceding it.
This method is used to control all parameters: frequency, waveforms, and signal combination types.

Link to the VK group:
https://vk.com/musicnoisebox

Features:
12 oscillators with adjustable waveforms
16 waveforms that morph smoothly into one another
8 signal combination schemes (for pairs of signals) that morph smoothly into one another
3 filter types with resonance (HP, LP, Res)
Filter LFO with selectable triangle, square, or oscillator/combiner-derived waveforms
A second LFO featuring complex waveforms, capable of modulating synthesis parameters—including the filter (providing two dedicated LFOs for the filter)
Tone quantization capability (quantizing to the tonic or fifth)
6-button keyboard interface; individual keys can be custom-configured, or a layout can be selected from 63 presets
Attack, Release, and Glide controls
Killswitch with smooth fade-out/fade-in functionality
Randomize button, allowing for independent randomization of synthesis parameters and LFO settings
"Move" mode: each key is assigned its own unique synthesis preset
Polyphonic mode with 6, 4, or 2-voice polyphony
Support for 432 Hz tuning
Distortion effect
Smoothly adjustable "Mass" parameter ...of sound, where the number of operating units can be regulated.

Genki KATLA - THE VOLCANO SYNTH!! Now Available

video upload by Starsky Carr

"What happens when a synthesizer completely breaks the rules?
In this video, we explore the Genki KATLA — a truly unique polysynth inspired by Icelandic volcanoes, featuring a rotating voice architecture, hybrid signal path, and some of the most unpredictable sound design possibilities I’ve come across.

This isn’t your typical analog polysynth. Each of the five voices can run independently with different waveforms, octaves, and modulation — creating evolving textures, harmonic movement, and generative-style sounds that feel closer to modular synthesis than traditional keyboards.

🎛️ What makes the KATLA special?
• Rotating voice polyphony (round robin-style synthesis)
• Independent per-voice oscillators & tuning
• Digital oscillators + analog filter signal path
• Looping envelopes reaching audio-rate modulation
• Phase distortion, wavefolding & multiple distortion types
• Tape-style wow, flutter & pitch instability effects
• Stereo voice movement & evolving spatial modulation
• External inputs for processing other gear

From lush ambient pads to aggressive, evolving sequences — this synth can go places most instruments simply can’t. It’s not about recreating vintage sounds… it’s about discovering entirely new ones.

💸 At around €5000, this is definitely not a beginner synth — but for sound designers, and anyone looking for something truly different, it well worth a look."

"Hey guys! Very very excited to be presenting the Genki Katla to you all... I am truly in awe of the sound of this very unique and powerful instrument.

I thought the best way to get to know the synth is to start from scratch so in this video we'll go full hands-on with the Genki Katla, exploring (almost) every parameter and building sounds from an initialized patch.

From some raw drone layers and gritty textures to evolving pads, rhythmic sequences, and atmospheric beds, we will see just what this instrument can do, discover new sounds, and maybe make some friends along the way 🙏

If you're into sound design, unique synths, or just love discovering new instruments, this one is for you!

HUGE thanks to Genki for letting me a part of this with them and showing off this super cool synth.

No money was paid, no agreements were made... these are my real thoughts on this very premium synthesizer and I will be sharing lots more."

Press release follows:

Genki Instruments announces availability of Katla as Voice Rotating Polyphonic Synthesizer inspired by its natural namesake

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND: having twice blown European musical minds thanks to show-stealing showcases at SUPERBOOTH25, May 8-10, Berlin, Germany and Machina Bristronica 2025, September 27-28, Bristol, UK, before adventuring across the pond for a repeat performance at Buchla & Friends 2026, January 24-25, LA, CA, USA, Reykjavik-based instrument developer Genki Instruments is proud to announce availability of the eagerly-awaited Katla as a Voice Rotating Polyphonic Synthesizer inspired by Iceland’s largest subglacial volcano as its natural namesake — readily representing the company’s first foray into analogue synthesis, albeit one that uniquely utilises a set of wildcard parameters to infuse it with organic, unpredictable behaviour as an instrument that is worthy of that legacy, excelling at generating rich, evolving, multi-layered textures, where each note stirs, swells, and erupts in its own distinct way — as of March 31…

Clearly Katla’s inspiration runs through its ‘volcanic’ veins. After all, it is framed by side panels and knobs forged from authentic Icelandic lava, giving each instrument a tangible connection to the volcanic forces that inspired it. That this synth should surely roar is a given. Genki Instruments inevitably chose, therefore, to kit Katla out with four independent distortion destinations, the most unruly of which is a stereo CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) Drive effect — a characterful saturation stage, pushing tones from warm and rounded to fractured and snarling.

Waldorf Iridium / Quantum - "Harmony of the Spheres" (50 Presets)

video upload by LFOstore

"'Harmony of the Spheres' is a truly remarkable soundset for the Waldorf Iridium and Quantum synthesizers with 50 exclusive presets created by the well-known sound designer, film composer and sound therapist, Otto K. Schwarz. Whether you are composing ambient journeys, cinematic soundtracks, meditative music, experimental electronica or simply seeking moments of cosmic resonance, “Harmony of the Spheres” invites you to become part of this eternal harmony!

As the name suggests, this soundbank is dedicated to the ancient philosophical concept of the harmony of the spheres, also known as Musica universalis. The ancients spoke of the musical and mathematical structure of the cosmos. They believed that the movement of heavenly bodies gives rise to a perfect harmony, expressed through distances equal to the consonant musical proportions — a celestial symphony that resonates through the universe itself.

On the powerful wavetable, granular and sampling engines of the Iridium and Quantum, this philosophy comes vividly to life. Here you will find multi-layered pads that dissolve into infinite cosmic depths, evolving sequences that mirror the the cosmic cycles and events, hypnotic arpeggios that echo the orbital dance of planets and moons, cosmic leads that pierce the veil of unseen, and ethereal keys bathed in the radiant frequencies of starlight.

Otto K. Schwarz, with over 12 years of experience and collaborations with leading manufacturers such as Access Music, Modal Electronics and Native Instruments, brings his signature blend of psychoacoustic depth, emotional intelligence and therapeutic insight to this library. Each preset is meticulously sculpted to evoke not just sound, but a sense of universal connection — a sonic meditation on the hidden music that binds all existence! Experience the Journey!"

Press release follows:

Cherry Audio Launches Crumar DS-2 Synthesizer

Based on the original 1978 hardware, this value-packed emulation revives the digital control and analog soul of an often forgotten landmark in synth history.

(March 31) Cherry Audio is excited to announce the release of the Crumar DS-2 synthesizer, a virtual instrument that faithfully replicates and significantly enhances the original 1978 hardware synth that was ahead of its time. This release marks the latest collaboration with Crumar Instruments, following last year’s acclaimed Spirit synthesizer, revisiting a groundbreaking Italian synth and infusing it with Cherry Audio’s signature style.

Crumar DS-2 by Cherry Audio is available now for only $59 at cherryaudio.com and through authorized resellers, bringing its rare and legendary “vintage digital” sound to the modern production environment at an exceptionally low price.

The Crumar DS-2 was a unique synthesizer that combined a monophonic Synth engine alongside a fully paraphonic Poly section. The “DS” in its name stood for “Digital Synthesizer,” and it featured two Digitally Controlled Oscillators (DCOs) designed to prevent tuning drift. However, the resulting waveforms were completely stair-stepped, giving the instrument a gritty character and wild harmonics. Together, the two sections provided the DS-2 with a distinct sound that set it apart from both early digital synthesizers and classic analog models.

Building upon the foundation of the vintage hardware, Cherry Audio’s virtual Crumar DS-2 introduces several powerful modern enhancements to expand its creative potential. The monophonic Synth section now includes unison and multi-voice modes, providing panning and tuning options, as well as polyphonic functionality with 4, 8, or 16 voices. The Poly section supports full 32-note polyphony, and DS-2 now features a keyboard split mode in addition to the layered mode.

The Synth section now includes a stair-stepped sine waveform option, and oscillator sync has been added. A third LFO has been introduced, and LFO options now include discrete delays, sync, retrigger, reverse wave, and one-shot capabilities. The five-part LFO Mixer, previously hardwired to specific destinations, now offers six assignable destinations with 33 options each, providing unparalleled modulation flexibility.

The envelopes have been enhanced with an initial delay stage (DADSR) and velocity sensitivity, and now include looping functionality. Additionally, the Poly section now features VCA release control, making it better suited to powerful string-synth sonics. Touch control has been added with four slots and simple click-to-assign functionality, supporting both channel and polyphonic aftertouch with compatible MIDI controllers.

The VCF has been upgraded to include a 12dB 2-pole in addition to the original 24dB 4-pole option, along with polarity and key-follow adjustments. Other enhancements include an assignable bend range, a dedicated mod wheel, and a dynamic arpeggiator that can be applied to either or both sections. DS-2 also offers three customizable effects chains with 20 studio-quality effects, allowing users to arrange, save, and recall their settings. Over 300 professionally designed presets are organized into 14 categories to inspire instant creativity.

Cherry Audio is also offering the Deep Space Preset Pack for DS-2 for only $9.99. This pack includes an extra 100 presets that provide an in-depth exploration of DS-2's sophisticated modulation routing, expressive performance features, layers and splits, arpeggiator, and studio-quality effects.

Crumar DS-2 reflects Cherry Audio’s ongoing dedication to delivering high-quality sound at an unbeatable price, even in uncertain times. Priced at just $59, the DS-2 is an ideal choice for synth enthusiasts who value both exceptional tone and affordability. Furthermore, until April 13th, producers can purchase the Crumar DS-2 as part of Cherry Audio’s “Build Your Own Bundle” options. Customers can select a Pick 3 bundle for $99 (regularly $119) or a Pick 6 bundle for only $149 (regularly $169), allowing you to mix and match any of their award-winning instruments for as little as $25 per plugin.

Cherry Audio’s Crumar DS-2 synthesizer is available for macOS (10.13 or later) and Windows (7 or later) in AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats. A free 30-day demo is available. Visit cherryaudio.com for additional product details, a deep-dive introductory video, system requirements, and an extensive collection of awe-inspiring sound demos.

Trails offers 7 FX that make your sounds sustain and grow, there's resonators (think Rings) with sympathetic strings, bell like chord generation, live and frozen buffer granular processing, a unique distortion like nothing I've used before, micro loopers, pitch shifting delays, vinyl record emulating delays and more!"

REVNET algorithmic reverb

video upload by sonicLAB

"sonicLAB REVNET is an algorithmic reverb with uncompromising sonic quality."

"WHY ANOTHER REVERB ?

There are already hundreds of reverb plugins on the market. The question is, why do you need another one?

Because sonicLAB offers a unique approach to defining control and modulation across multi-scale elements—from sound processors to MIDI event generators—delivering uncompromising sonic quality.

We are happy to introduce REVNet, a complex algorithmic reverberation and spatial sound design instrument. Rather than simply emulating traditional plates or rooms, REVNet is designed to create unique reverberations. By combining dynamic feedback topologies, stochastic modulation, and pitch-tracked harmonic resonance, REVNet operates as much as a synthesizer as it does a spatial effect.

REVNet is for uncompromising sound design. Crucially, unlike static reverb algorithms, REVNet allows you to manipulate its internal reflection network on the fly."

How to Reverse Engineer Any Magnolia Preset (No Screen Needed)

video upload by Frap Tools

"Factory presets are often treated as black boxes — especially on instruments without a visual interface.

Magnolia, despite its minimal display, provides all the information needed to fully understand and reconstruct a patch — if you know where to look.

In this video, we go through a structured method to reverse engineer any preset, starting from its architecture (single, dual, split), through performance settings like polyphony and arpeggiator, and finally into the details of sound design.

We’ll focus on how to identify modulation routings, distinguish default parameter values from modulation offsets, and interpret the instrument’s LED feedback to extract meaningful information.

The goal is not just to recreate presets, but to understand how they are built — turning Magnolia’s interface into a powerful analytical tool rather than a limitation.

What began as a subculture has evolved into a worldwide force through sonic experimentation and community‑driven expression.

The SP lineage has shaped scenes across Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, Berlin, Melbourne, and beyond. Producers including Dibia$e, Knxwledge, MNDSGN, and the late Ras G have expanded the sampler’s creative vocabulary, inspiring generations of beatmakers to develop their own voices through sample‑based music.

404 Day 2026 Around the World

SP-404 celebrations are building around 404 Day, with partner activations, events, and creator-led moments across the global beat scene. This year’s celebration is anchored by a cornerstone collaboration with Berklee College of Music, and a 404 Day livestream at the Roland Studio in California, alongside workshops and performances. For more information on worldwide events: https://articles.roland.com/ultimate-guide-404-day-2026

Dawless Techno with Jaw Harp & PVC Pipes | Circuit Tracks + Rhythm

video upload by Underground Modulation

"🔥 Experimental Dawless Techno Groovebox Jam | Custom Samples (Jaw Harp & PVC Pipes)

In this video I perform an experimental techno groovebox jam using unique custom samples like jaw harp and PVC pipe sounds, blended into a driving electronic groove.

This track is created using a fully dawless setup with two powerful grooveboxes:
🎛 Novation Circuit Tracks
🥁 Novation Circuit Rhythm

Both grooveboxes handle rhythmic and melodic elements, working together to create a layered and evolving experimental techno sound. The use of jaw harp and PVC pipe samples adds an organic, unusual texture that pushes this jam beyond traditional techno.

Everything is performed live in a DAWLESS workflow, with all sequencing done directly on the Circuit Tracks and Circuit Rhythm.
Final mastering was completed in Ableton Live to enhance clarity, punch, and overall balance.

Bob Moog Foundation Archives Donation: Rare Moog Liberation Formerly Owned by Gary Wright

Pictured:

via The Bob Moog Foundation

Synth wizard Casey Young (Gary Wright, Yes, Madonna, TOTO, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner) recently donated a vintage, white Moog Liberation keytar synthesizer to the Bob Moog Foundation Archives. This rare instrument was used by Gary Wright in live and recorded performances, including the music video for the 1981 song "Heartbeat." Wright, who composed the 1976 hit song "Dream Weaver," personally gifted the synth to Young.

“Getting to work with Gary Wright was one of the best gigs I ever had.
He did so much to jump-start my musical journey.”
--Casey Young

We plan to fully restore the Liberation, which has been in storage for decades, to its former glory so that we can share this instrument at the Moogseum one day. None of our efforts are possible without the support of our donors. Please consider supporting the Foundation today so that we can restore and preserve this and many more historical vintage electronic instruments!

“We are honored by this very special donation to the Bob Moog Foundation Archives. Gary Wright’s Liberation is a part of synthesizer history. We are deeply grateful to Casey Young for this important donation, and we look forward to sharing this historical gem once it has been restored.” --Michelle Moog-Koussa

For an insider's insight on the design of the Moog Liberation, check out our one-on-one interview with former Moog Music designer Rock Wehrmann, available to read on moogfoundation.org.

Redshift 6 - Firmware 1.6 Demo - Sequencer and Macros

video upload by Supercritical Synthesizers

"Redshift 6 Firmware 1.6 in action — no talking, just pure playing.

Firmware Update 1.6 introduces a new polyphonic sequencer engine and macros.

The update also includes new factory presets designed to showcase the Poly Seq engine and macros. Each multitimbral part in Redshift 6 supports its own sequencer, allowing up to six independent sequencers to run in parallel.

The Poly Seq engine handles per-part sequencing, making it easy to build polyphonic sequences across multiple parts.

Macros provide access to eight assignable controls. Each Macro can control multiple parameters simultaneously, including parameters across different parts. This enables complex changes with a single knob and makes Macros especially useful in live performance.

All synth sounds and FX are from Redshift 6 — no external effects were used."

Korg Wavestate - "Digital Legends"

video upload by LFOstore

"Compatible with Korg Wavestate, Wavestate mkII, Wavestate SE, Wavestate Module, and Wavestate Native.

BUY: https://kav-sound-explorer.sellfy.sto...

Some synthesizers don't just make sounds - they define eras. The Korg M1, 01W, M3R, T1, Z1, and Trinity shaped the sound of an entire decade, and their character is unmistakable: that particular blend of digital clarity, organic warmth, and subtle imperfection that no modern preset can quite replicate.

Digital Legends brings those machines into your Wavestate. Built from 88 original multisamples captured directly from these instruments, the pack uses the Wavestate's wave sequencing engine to push classic tones into new territory - layered, evolving, and alive in ways the originals never could be.

The result is a collection that works equally well for deep nostalgia and forward-thinking production. Lush evolving pads, shimmering leads, expressive synth keys, full-bodied basses, and classic poly textures - all rooted in vintage Korg DNA, all ready for modern use.

122 Programs
88 Multisamples sourced from Korg M1, 01W, M3R, T1, Z1, and Trinity

"No AI here, this is a real human description in the language of English.

Think of drum loops, drones and leads from the 90s. This is an M-DC1 from Roland, which includes typical banks of patches, but also cool performance and drum modes. Many hip hop loops, trance type stuff. This is a rack module which essentially contains the dance roms that were also available for the JV series in the form of plug in cards. Except this is a standalone rack unit with a JV-esque sound engine.

The JV sound was ubiquitous in the 90s, and not to be underestimated, whether it be traditional piano/keyboard, bass, drums, or leads.

Pretty clean, even the rack ears are pretty clean, Home studio only, not dragged around. Used for supplementing tracks, and some of the drum loops were used as foundations for tracks.

you got your midi, your stereo outs etc.

midi'd it up to another roland keyboard and tested some of the performance loops, and individual patches. That worked for me."

We dive deep into the Patch Gen (Patch Generator) feature found on Retroactive controllers, which uses intelligent randomization to deliver usable, professional-grade synth tones instantly. Whether you need snappy basses, lush "steam" pads, or lo-fi organs, this tool transforms the way you interact with your vintage analog gear.🎹 "

An Ambient Exploration in Microsound in Two Parts with Morphagene & Mimeophon

video upload by Genshi Media Group

"::| TO HEAR THE FULL RANGE OF FREQUENCIES AND STEREO EFFECTS, A GOOD PAIR OF HEADPHONES IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED |::

An Ambient Exploration in Microsound in Two Parts with the ‪@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC‬ Morphagene & Mimeophon. Part one also includes the Make Noise QPAS. Both parts towards the end also include a pair of Radio Music modules (though in Part One the second Radio Music module wouldn't trigger). I will be releasing a 5 Track Album with more of these explorations within a week or two. Further details of this video:

You may be asking 'Why didn't he just use modulation on those parameters?' When I'm using a small setup with just two or three modules, I like to manually "play" the modules like an instrument; using my intuition to guide how I am going to evolve the sound. In my main, bigger system, I of course use all sorts of modulation for some of these things with modules like Batumi, Samara, Zadar and others, but I still always leave room to play the instrument manually.

I've been interested in Granular synthesis and Microsound ever since getting Curtis Roads' book 'Microsound' when it first came out in 2001, but even before that, I had been interested in Musique Concrète, with my first experience of that being when my father (who was a Radio DJ and Concert Promoter) brought home the just released Beatles 'White' album and hearing 'Revolution No. 9' for the first time. I was four years old, and it freaked me out! Part two of this video towards the end gets a little 'haunted' as well, inspired by that revolution of musique concrète!

Mother-32, Manis Iteritas, Anti-Oscillator and Modbase 09 Mk2 are the main voices.
Metropolix clocks everything and sequences the bassline (Manis Iteritas). I've used its Mod Lane to change the root of the scale and go beyond the limited steps.
Mother-32 sequences itself; O_c sequences Anti-Oscillator.
Nautilus is the Send delay via Cosmix Pro mixer and Beads provides the reverb and a few high pitched grains."

Mutable Instruments Rings - Alternative Firmware!

video upload by The Unperson

"Mutable Instruments Rings is one of my all-time favourite Eurorack modules, and I’ve made many videos about it over the years. As a resonator and physical modelling synthesizer, it’s been a core part of my modular synthesis and electronic music setup for a long time. I thought I knew all there is to know about Rings, but then I discovered this alternative firmware which greatly expands the features, and breathes some new life into this old module.

In this video I explore a range of new features within Rings, including frequency lock, updated chord charts, and a compact stereo version of the classic Mutable Instruments Elements, adapted to run inside the module. There’s also an “eternal exciter” mode, which allows more control over the exciter, opening up new possibilities for ambient, experimental, and textural sound design. This alternative firmware

If you’re into Eurorack, modular synths, physical modelling synthesis, or sound design for electronic music, this firmware offers some subtle but very useful extensions to an already powerful synthesizer module.
