"Sequential circuits Pro FX Model 500. A very early Digital Analog hybrid effects unit specifically made for your CV analog / modular Synth. This is a quality machine. Very few of these were made. Extremely rare. It's in excellent cosmetic condition. No dings, dents or serious cosmetic wear at all. The face is in beautiful shape. There's light scuffs on the top edge and a light blemish on the back as seen in photos. Lightly used and very well cared for!

It powers up and passes a signal but the effects aren't working as they should. All LEDs and lights work. All buttons and knobs are in great shape and trigger the digital LED / appropriate lights perfectly but as for any 40-year-old vintage analog gear, this will need to be serviced and is being sold AS IS. Sustaining notes are unaffected, which means that as long as you master the playing style, you can have a couple of different things going on at the same time. I wonder if those plug-in's and other emulations can do that...!?"

"How many of you have read the book, 'Roadside Picnic', or have seen the classic Russian film 'STALKER' by Andrei Tarkovsky? Not many? Didn't think so.

Anywho, this is me basically losing my fucking mind for 20 minutes, improvising off the melody from the main title song of the film. The ARP Odyssey is providing the drone, and later synthy-goodness. The Wurlitzer (if you can really call it that, cuz' it's so processed) is from the amazing Lounge Lizard EP-4; THE best and MOST authentic Rhodes/Wurlitzer plugin on the market, bar NONE.

I used the on-board effects with the plugin running in stand-alone mode.... we're talking reverb, delay, chorus and later on, some crunchy over-drive! I don't expect anyone to watch this whole video, but props to those who do! It was a lot of fun to play!

3 Modules #1: Maths, STO, Rings

Disregarding the 1U row, there are 10 separate modules. This means that there are a total of 120 different three-module combinations possible with my setup. In this video series I intend to explore each and every one of those combinations.

To start it all off: Here’s a drone piece featuring Maths, STO and Rings. I’m using a feedback loop through Rings, which is in «sympathetic strings» mode, over a low drone from the STO. And, of course, Maths provides some complex modulations of the sounds.

In principle, each patch will consist of only the three modules in the given combination. HOWEVER, the 1U row is «fair game». Some combinations may necessitate mixing, attenuation or an input clock signal, and this is why I won’t count the bottom row of utilities as separate modules. "My first recorded jam with my new Matrixbrute. I have a glitchy/percussion loop being played by the Matrixbrute. The main synth sequence is from the Keystep and is playing the JX-03. The JU-03 is used for the short "lead/solo" parts that come in a couple of times. The Microbrute is playing the long bassline notes. More of the Matrixbrute to come... It is a BEAST!! All sequences done internally. DAW was used only for recording the stereo output of my Mackie mixer. Light compression added in Ableton, but otherwise raw! Enjoy."

Yeah, more jam sessions techno style coming up... this time building some BURG ambience with the volca keys. This one will most probably be part of the live set in May, its important that style does not wander off too far from what i normally do :)

I had a so much better flow on my initial jams.. but dammit i forgot to charge the camera batteries so TWO of them died during what i felt was one of the better takes :( whatever, stuff sometimes dont always go as you have planned right ?

Ok, so again its TB-3 centric in drive (this is an important part for the live set) and i have these messed up sounds (again) in the elekton and 0-coast. Using the circuit a bit more on this for beats and stuff.. a bit vanilla maybe but it felt alright.

1975 Photo Essay - How to Make an Optigan Disc

"I had some Optigan odds & ends sitting around and decided to mash them all up into one video. The slide show is from a photo album that Mike LeDoux (the guy in charge of making all the original Optigan discs) put together in 1975 in order to, basically, show his corporate overlords at Miner Industries / Opsonar (this was in the post-Mattel era) why they still needed to keep him, since he was their only employee on the west coast. The idea was to show them how complicated his job was, and that they couldn't simply "hire some other guy" to do the work at their plant on the east coast. Needless to say, it was a hell of alot more difficult to make an Optigan disc back then as it is now! Though it's still pretty tricky...

The audio is a variety of things from cassettes found in Mike's archives:

First off is the only Optigan radio spot that I'm aware of.

Next is a series of demos made during the sessions that Art DePew arranged and conducted for Optigan. These are all big band recordings, and resulted in discs such as Champagne Music, Big Band Beat, Swing It, and Dixieland Strut. During the sessions, they had a bit of fun jamming on the basic arrangements, and that's what you're hearing here. Some of these arrangements never got used on any Optigan discs, so we may issue them at some point if there's sufficient demand.

Lastly is the audio only from a Dec. 21, 1972 broadcast of the Dinah Shore TV show. Her guest was Barry Goldwater, who gets roped into attempting to play an Optigan. I'd love to see the actual clip, but I've yet to find it anywhere. If anyone finds it, let me know!"
