"Up for sale is a Roland CR 78 Drumcomputer, the first programmable drumcomputer in excellent condition.
It is a very unique drumcomputer with its own sound and charme.

The unit is in very good condition, fully checked and cleaned.
Fully recapped with high grade Panasonic capacitors ! You won't find a better CR 78 on the market right now.

Many CR 78 RAM ic's on the used market are not tested and lot's of CR 78 have dead RAM ic's ( these are expensive and hard to find )
This CR 78 RAM has been tested with a Roland WS 1 Programmer and works as it should.

A new battery with battery holder has been installed and all faders and switches have been treated and checked.

The unit shows very light normal age related wear.

Inlcuded in this sale is the original Roland Start / Stop switch."

Details on Social Entropy's New Engine Multitrack Sequencer

Social Entropy is at NAMM Booth 1663A, Hall E.

"SOCIAL ENTROPY ANNOUNCES ENGINE MULTITRACK PATTERN
 SEQUENCER FOR CV AND MIDI

NAMM 2015 BOOTH 1663A - Social Entropy is pleased to introduce ENGINE, a hardware sequencer for pattern based music composition and performance. ENGINE provides a dedicated interface for creating melodic and percussion patterns in a compact tabletop unit.

ENGINE can be used used for sequencing MIDI based devices using standard MIDI or USB-MIDI, and with an optional CV expansion board, ENGINE can interface with modular and other analog devices.

ENGINE can sequence eight simultaneous tracks. Timing for each track is independent, with only a shared master clock across patterns. Each pattern can be up to 64 steps in length with eight available timing scales, multiple levels of shuffle and the ability to skip individual steps.

ENGINE contains 512 patterns which can be either synth (melodic) type or drum type. Synth type patterns allow for monophonic programming with dedicated accent, slide and transposition and also include a built in arpeggiator.

Drum type patterns allow for eight instrument polyphony, with dedicated accents, instrument muting and a drum roll mode.

The sequencing engine supports simultaneous grid and realtime recording. Allowing realtime performances to be captured with the built in mini-keyboard or via MIDI controller. In addition, the arpeggiator, drum rolls, slides, accents and transposition can also be recorded directly into a sequence in realtime.

Functions like copy and paste, randomize, rotate and reverse can be applied to entire patterns or to individual drum instruments. All operations can be performed without stopping the sequencer. All settings are stored in non-volatile memory.

For constructing songs, snapshot and song modes allow the current state of all tracks to be captured and recalled with a single button press.

Six general purpose controller knobs can be mapped to any MIDI controller message and MIDI channel, or follow the

MIDI channel of the selected track. This makes it possible to tweak devices directly from ENGINE.

The optional CV expansion board adds eight analog output pairs, with one output per track. Synth type patterns output CV/Gate voltages, while drum type patterns output Trigger and Accent voltages for one drum instrument. A hardware slide circuit produces smooth CV output for programmed slide events.

Synchronization can be either internal, MIDI clock or DIN sync (master or slave).

Full MIDI System Exclusive support means that pattern data can be dumped to external devices for backup or sharing. Patterns from Quicksilver 606, Quicksilver 303 and (upcoming) Quicksilver 808 can be loaded directly into Engine.

USB connectivity is also used for easy operating system upgrades. ENGINE will be available in early 2015.

Gakken SX150 mark II : Unbox and test drive

Published on Jan 22, 2015 karenevil

How many of you are familiar with that opening track?

"I got a new toy, Gakken SX150 mark II with very affordable price :D

This products was designed by famous Japanese analog synthesizer builder and the sound quality is very good.

By the way I don't know why but the price of this product is now slashed in Japan, I bought it from amazon.co.jp and it was only 700yen ( about $6 ).

Originally it was more than 7000 yen.

Probably, this product is failed in the market, maybe Gakken miscalculated the market size and overstocked, I don't know real reason but I guess so ;-)

Honestly we can buy two of monotron with such price and build quality of KORG's is much better than Gakken's.

Anyway very difficult market :D"

They are a bit more on Amazon US
You can also find Gakken Synths on eBay of course.  The Mk1 was black and the MK2 red.  Everything sounds nice with a bit of reverb.

Expect some blemishes from normal use of a vintage instrument mostly on the leather sides, but overall cosmetic condition is good."

"Vintage ARP 2800 Odyssey MKI with audio input, trigger, gate, and control voltage jacks. original 4023 filter. This is another one of the earliest blackface arp odysseys.

Recent service. This is a great example of a very well taken care of original odyssey. It has a few cosmetic blemishes from normal use of a vintage instrument, but this item is very clean. The main A B and C boards have never been removed. The faders do slide function and slide well for an original odyssey. The Waveform select switch for the Sample and Hold mixer has broken off so that it is flat. It does work and move as it should, but has to be moved with something that can reach it. Fortunately, that switch is pretty rarely used; so, i chose to leave it alone. Recent service included the keybushings being replaced and the power supply board was recapped. This is a great playing synthesizer. It scales, plays in tune well, and sounds great.

100% working as-described or it's returnable, as covered by ebay policy."

KOMA Elektronik Introduces the KOMPLEX Sequencer

"KOMA ELEKTRONIK LETS YOU SEQUENCE THE SEQUENCE WITH NEW KOMPLEX SEQUENCER

KOMA Elektronik's new KOMPLEX SEQUENCER offers to users the most powerful hardware CV/Gate sequencer to date.

LOS ANGELES, CA, January 22, 2015 – Today, KOMA Elektronik GmbH is pleased to announce its latest release: the KOMPLEX SEQUENCER, which enables musicians and producers to construct complex musical patterns via both MIDI and CV/Gate, by the means of sequencing the sequence.

The KOMPLEX SEQUENCER is a musical monster built around four full-featured 16-step sequencers that allow and invite the user to use one or more of the sequencers to sequence the other one. The KOMPLEX SEQUENCER has no screen or submenus; all features have their own dedicated controls, and all features have their own dedicated in- and outputs on the large 86-point patch bay.

Each sequencer has its own start and stop buttons, a quantizer (switchable between chromatic, major & minor scales), one-shot-mode and five different play modes (forward, backward, ping-pong, ping-pong reversed, random). You can of course set the output range per sequencer as well, choose between 2V, 5V or 9V.

Ever since the groundbreaking work of krautrock legends like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Manuel Gottsching, the sequencer has been a key tool for many electronic artists coming from the Berlin scene since the 1970s, ranging from techno producers to experimental ambient artists, all using the repetitive character of the sequencer to create innovative music. We now think it's time for the ultimate sequencer, one that comes with so much power and connectivity that gives the user the possibility to transcend the sequence from a repeating pattern to an ever evolving cadence of sound.

By patching both internal and external CV-sources to the patch bay of the KOMPLEX, the user is able to control the parameters for Sequence Start Point, Sequencer Clock Division, the amount of the Glide between the steps, Skip Step, Repeat Step and Repeat Length. Also, you can Transpose the whole sequence via CV, start it with an external trigger signal and use, for example, an LFO or another sequence to control Sequence Length or Gate Length. This adds up to 20 in- and outputs per individual sequencer, which, when you include the CV recorder outputs, adds up to 86 CV patch points on the whole machine, all conveniently located on the front panel.

Designed as a large 19" 7U surface, the KOMPLEX invites the user to plug and play. The LED's on the 64 step-sliders show the active step, the 64 corresponding RGB LED's under the sliders’ push buttons allow you to set the sequencer start point, choose active steps, set the Glide per step, set the Gate per step, set the amount of Repeats per step and Repeat mode. Besides this, they also choose the output MIDI channel for each sequence. Extra features include a 7 channel CV-recorder whose bank selection is controllable via CV and master start/stop to start/stop all sequencers at once.

The KOMPLEX SEQUENCER is compatible with almost all synthesizers that accept CV/Gate and/or MIDI. No matter if you have a small modular system or a studio filled with vintage synths, the KOMA Elektronik KOMPLEX SEQUENCER will open a whole new world of playability and creativity, allowing you to start creating where all other sequencers stop.

The KOMPLEX SEQUENCER will be available at select retailers worldwide in Spring 2015 for an MSRP of $1500.00. To learn more about the KOMPLEX SEQUENCER or KOMA Elektronik's full line of electronic musical instruments and accessories, please visit www.koma-elektronik.com."

Folktek Materia; beats and pieces. composite

Published on Jan 22, 2015 Sir Folktek

"Though Materia is designed to function alongside and enhance touch-based works, it also functions as a tasty nasty click and pop and bassline synthesizer. standalone tricks and hops,

Here; the most basic of straight up patched, standalone Materia. no effects, no cv, no doodads, no nothing..
lil beats, lil bass, lil noise. Individual patch sessions, sonically unaffected clicks and pops and everything chops.

all recorded at the same tempo...but yes, it plays at all other tempos as well ;).

AS-866 Synth Jam Based on the Allen Strange's Electronic Music Book

Published on Jan 22, 2015 ikjoyce

"A full on live jam from the AS-866 patch

The original patch was my attempt at figure 8.66 in the Allen Strange book. I added an extra figure that takes the output of one of the oscillators, mixes it with a third oscillator playing a different sequence, and then ring-modulates against itself. Adds a bit more interest, especially when playing with the filter cutoff. I also added a Dark Time 15-note sequence with pitch modulation from one of the sequences driving the main patch, switched in and out with a 4 way switch - this is playing the Dark Energy."

Spring Will Come - Roland Aira TR-8, Korg Volca Keys, Korg Volca Bass

Published on Jan 22, 2015 Tony Horgan

"More of a jam than a track, but all played live using only the onboard hardware sequencers. The Volca Keys plays the bassline, passed through the TR-8 to make a submix with the kick drum, both of which are compressed with an Alesis Nano Compressor. The Volca Bass gets some effects from a Zoom 1201 rack unit and a Korg KaossPad Quad."

Shovel Knight is a very special game. Its one of those games we will look at in 10 years and try to figure out exactly what made it so special. And its soundtrack is just so freaking good. I always appreciated Mole Knights song, An Underlying Problem, because of the tight syncopation on the chorus section. I hope you enjoy our take on this great song!

Roland JD Xi Demo by Hunart©

Published on Jan 22, 2015 Hunart©

"A really quickly made demo of the JD Xi which I`ve got a chance to test thanks to Roland Poland. Please keep in mind the followings:

- this unit is a prototype,
- I`ve had only 6 hours to make the video so don`t expect special music ;) Because of the lack of time I couldn`t really check the vocoder...
- If I`ll get this synth again I`ll make an in depth review with polish and hungarian subtitles. In the meantime feel free to ask any questions.

Anyway the synth already sounds very good and playing it is lots of fun.

Enjoy,
