Sequential Take 5 Live Loop Jam 2

video upload by Creative Spiral

"This is a live loop jam, testing out some new patch designs on Sequential Take 5 synth. Using a Boss RC-300 Pedal to record the loops, and a Roland TR-8S for drum mix."

Summer Rain (collab using Monomachine, Sequential Pro3, Korg Minilogue)

video upload by MKDVB

"Sun Fils: vocals, guitar, Korg Minilogue bass
MKDVB: Sequential Pro 3 (lead, bass, arp), Elektron Monomachine (main synth riff, percussion)

I remember the exact day the lightning wildfires started in CA last summer because my family went for an early morning walk and lightning erupted unexpectedly. I even recorded it on my phone & sampled it in my next single. And somehow I knew things weren't going to be the same anymore.

It's time we gave the Earth its flowers."

"Surrender" (1st Sequential Pro 3 synth jam + Moog Matriarch, Monomachine, Juno 106, Squarp Pyramid)

video upload by MKDVB

"My 1st jam with the Sequential Pro 3 & it may already be my fave monosynth! Live ambient synthpop jam alongside the Moog Matriarch, Elektron Monomachine, Juno 106 (my last track w/ this beauty but it was time to say goodbye). Squarp Pyramid on sequencer. Chase Bliss Audio Blooper, Eventide Eclipse, Boss RV-500 reverb & Valhalla on FX duties.

I called this track Surrender because it's the last one I made with my beloved Juno 106, which I chose to sell despite my emotional attachment to its sound. I've always had a collector's mentality which lends itself to a materialistic mindset in many ways & hanging onto the 106 was more about "owning" than using or playing it. We never truly own anything so I surrendered the 106 & hopefully part of that mindset as well.

Recorded via Cranborne 500R8 & mixed/edited in post."

Making Ambient Music With A Busted Minimoog (& Sequential Prophet X, Chase Bliss CXM 1978, Sax, etc)

video upload by MKDVB

"Moog Minimoog Model D - bass riff
Sequential Prophet X - piano, lead melody, chords, pads, strings
Saxophone
FX: Chase Bliss Audio / Meris CXM 1978, Chase Bliss Wombstone mk2, Mutable Instruments Beads,
Hologram Microcosm, Cooper FX Generation Loss v2, Moog Moogerfooger MF-103, Eventide Rose

Please turn on CC/subtitles for more detailed studio/production notes.

MKDVB - This Is Love

I recently bought an OG Moog MiniMoog Model D that's in dire need of servicing and repair. The synth tech says it needs all the op amps replaced, rebuilt power supply, etc but otherwise in pretty good shape. The oscillator pitch is unstable, especially on OSC 3, so it's always randomly gliding and glitching when I play it. It's going into the shop soon but I decided to make a track with it now anyway.

The Moog is on bass/rhythm track duties because it was too unreliable to play more lead sounds. You'll hear the pitch gliding randomly as the track goes on. Because the Moog was so glitchy, I picked a granular-type piano patch on the Prophet X as well as strings on it during the bridges. I'm also sending my sax through Mutable Instruments Beads to add some improvised duet action.

Thanks for tuning in! --davy"

Moog Modular "Preset Box Working" Demo....

video upload by noddyspuncture

"Having built three of the ten cards and wired up their 'D' connecting harnesses I can now switch between four sounds.... four because the 'cancel' or 'panel' button strangely also make a nice sound..! This is quite strange because for the preset cards to work the EG, filter and footage setting have to be set a certain way. So here's my first time using the thing that I've been building for over a year now. I also added a section of a close up of one cards and I'm running through different settings and tweaking away so you get an idea of how it works."

video upload by MIDERA

"Another track using the Matriarch and Monomachine. Eventide Blackhole VST used for reverb.

Only had a few hours as my oldest daughter is at daycare while my wife has the newborn.

The other night, I woke up and my brain said 'Your heart has stopped.' I checked and couldn't feel a pulse. I jumped out of bed and ran to my wife (who was in another room). I found my pulse. I'm certain there was no way I had no pulse (and had the ability to jump out of bed and run), but wow, that was scary. Sleep deprivation is crazy."

For this performance, I played back the piano I recorded last night
on two Nagra reel-to-reel recorders at half speed, and played the
Verbos synthesizer along with it.

The windows of the gallery were fully opened to prevent Covid, so
we could hear the sounds of the crowd and cars driving by while a
comfortable breeze came in.

The cool, cloudy weather made for a pleasant performance.

Bastl Instruments BUDDY // Stereo mixer with preamp and TRS inputs for hybrid setups and more!!!

video upload by Bastl Instruments

"Buddy is a four-channel eurorack stereo mixer optimized for hybrid setups. Channels A and B are optimized for eurorack sources (either mono or stereo) with a slight boost (×2 / +6dB). Channels C and D are line-level pre-amps that can boost the signal up to ×10 / +20dB and feature stereo TRS jack inputs for directly connecting desktop units without further adaptors. All channels feature a clean boost via the high-quality, low-noise NE5532 op-amp (same as on the Dude), which delivers smooth overdrive - that can be used to overdrive clean stereo signals. Several Buddy mixers can be chained via jumper cables on the back to expand the number of channels without losing precious inputs."

first zoia euroburo ambient patch

video upload by Red Means Recording Ambient

"Pam's clocks, Chaos sequences and modulates, Rings and Castor and Pollux make sounds.

Euroburo is fed audio from Castor and Rings. It passes Castor through two channels of VCA (modulated by lfos) and filters (modulated by lfos). The lfos are modulated by another set of LFOs on random, sent through a slew limiter.

Rings is fed in and given a similar treatment, with dual vcas being modulated by two very slow LFOs.

The two Castor channels are fed into two panners, which are being modulated by another slow LFOS.

Those outputs are sent to reverbs and ping pong delays.

It's pretty."

Making the PERFECT Studio Desk!

Part 1: The Tour video upload by LeoMakes

This one is in via supporting member, LeoMakes who had the following to say:

"I was disappointed at the ergonomics of my studio (using my beloved Eurorack system means I'm always out of the sweet spot) SO... I built a custom Eurorack desk that puts all my favorite modules right in front of me where I want them. It has 272 HPs of Eurorack (3U + 1U Intellijel) with power, slide-out keyboard tray, ideal speaker placement. It's even a sit/stand desk so I can make music how I want. It has taken 5 months to design/engineer/fabricate and I hope your viewers will find it interesting/inspiring. Maybe they'll even build their own variants of this, which would be amazing."

Video Description and Part 2 below:

"I just built the perfect studio desk (for me)! In this video, we go on a tour of my new desk and I talk about why I designed it like this and some of its cool features. Check out Part 2 for the actual desk build: [below]

"Rare Korg Lambda ES50 fully serviced USA original model.Purchased in Japan ,so currently voltage to Japanese. The Condition is used. The wood panels shows very minor signs of age, can be fully restored with a little TLC. Technically it is as good as it gets. It has been fully serviced by and plays extremely well as it should .Sounds incredible and is a fantastic choice for amibient strings and unique pad sounds for a truly original edge. It has been used in many a great song and soundtrack over the years and an asset to any successful studio or musician.

The Korg Lambda is a fully polyphonic 48-key preset synthesizer released in 1979. It features two types of sound - Percussive (Electric Piano, Clavi, Piano, Harmonics) and Ensemble (Brass, Organ, Choir, Strings I, Strings II). The Percussive sounds have a simple fast attack and variable decay envelope, and the Ensemble sounds have both preset and variable attack/release envelopes. Each key is articulated independently, so there is no note-stealing as experienced on synths limited to a handful of voices. The downside of this is the relative lack of programmability, but the presets sound good, particularly when layered (they are all available simultaneously).

The Lambda uses divide-down technology from three Top Octave oscillators to provide the basis for its sounds. The three oscillators are mixed and filtered using fixed circuits to create the preset sounds, but there are also controls on the front panel for basic low-pass filtering of the Percussive and Ensemble tones, and each section has its own volume control. There is also a control for "click" (used to add attack to the EP sound) and a filter cut-off control for the Brass sound, which has its own paraphonic filter - tuned to give a slightly resonant peak to the sound, and with its own preset filter envelope. This re-triggers on every keypress, so held notes will also be reshaped when new ones are played. In practice this is not much of a problem.

Neuzeit Orbit Bitcrusher + Harmonizer

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Orbit is an effect module providing bitcrushing, harmonizing and filtering. It doesn't do anything on its own, so it needs an external source. It's a great module if you want to turn a simple sound into something huge, and it also works very well with drum and bass sounds, providing lots of animation thanks to the many CV inputs. Highly recommended when you're into Techno. I still have to figure out what will happen with more ambient patches, so there will be a part 02."

Neuzeit Orbit | Part 02 | Light & Dark Ambient

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"A second take on the Neuzeit Orbit, but this time in a more ambient setting with a clear light and obscure dark side. After playing with it for more than a week I found out the Orbit works best with either simple waveforms and beats - or a big system with lots of utilities. I don't think it's a beginner module, but if your system needs some 'grit', it's definitely worth a listen."

"In their debut module, the Neuzeit Instruments Orbit is a compelling example of how smaller synthesis blocks can be combined together into a deep and rewarding instrument and processor with its own unique identity. Within Orbit you'll find bitcrushing, filtering and EQ, harmonically-related pitch-tracking oscillators, an envelope generator and LFO, mixing capabilities, and more—all useful elements in their own right. But the magic behind Orbit is how these sections all interact and relate with each other, resulting in complex sound design and processing capabilities without a ton of additional modules or patching.

There are two main sections in Orbit named CRSH and HARM, as well as the filter, dedicated low frequency EQ, and the envelope. External signals enter Orbit at the bottom left, offering two input VCAs with level and CV controls, as well as a third input which runs straight into the filter, skipping the other three sections entirely. The summed output of the two VCAs then runs through a bass boost/cut EQ, which passes onto the other processing sections, as well as being available via the BLEED level control in the mixer just before the filter. Thus, while there is a dedicated level control for the totally dry input signal at the output, BLEED is another way to dial in body and fundamental frequencies which may get lost in the midst of the other sections' processing.
