"This keyboard is in good working order. It will need a minor restore to get it sounding great.

The Sonic Six is an interesting, although obscure synthesizer from the Moog history books. Its predecessor, the Sonic V, was designed by an ex-Moog employee for the muSonics brand. When muSonics eventually bought out R.A. Moog, forming Moog muSonics, the Sonic V’s basic design was moved into a portable brief-case style synthesizer, and with only a few tweaks, the Sonic Six was born."

The SDS7 was the Flagship of the original Simmons Electronic Drum Co. during the 80's. If you were a working drummer in the 80's, at any level, you had one of these, or wished you did. And if you were alive in the 80's and 90's, you have definitely heard one. Radio, TV, film soundtracks, etc...
Fully functional!! Everything works as it would have in 1985, if not better. A true restoration masterpiece.

Units like this don't come around every day. If you have ever wanted to own one of these, here's your chance. Doubt you'll find a cooler one in better working order. At least at this price."

Tiptop Audio's Z8000 Gets a New Look and Output Range Adjustment

Tiptop Audio: Z8000 Basic Patches from Tiptop Audio on Vimeo.

Update: videos above added.

via Tiptop Audio

"The Z8000 Matrix Sequencer is a modulation source like no other: The 16 knobs of the Z8000 are accessed by ten sequencers with their own clock, direction and reset inputs. The ten sequencers are as follows:

Four 4 step CV sequencers on the horizontal.
Four 4 step CV sequencers on the vertical.
One 16 step CV sequencer on the horizontal.
One 16 step CV sequencer on the vertical.

The Z8000 can simultaneously modulate up to 10 CV parameters poly-rhythmically, with unprecedented motion complexity. One knob affects all 10 CV outputs! Imagine modifying 10 parameters from one knob. With it’s 30 gate and clock inputs and 10 CV outputs one can only imagine the possibilities, and all clock inputs can even be driven at audio rates. The Z8000 pairs well with the Trigger Riot and Circadian Rhythms and using it with the QuantiZer extends its capabilities as a high precision 1V/Oct note sequencer.

Introduced in 2017, a new version of the Z8000 maintains the original circuitry but adds output range adjustment switches on the back and Tiptop’s new colored look which help highlight the sections."

"The Bark Filter Processor is a 12 band fixed filter bank with individual outputs and envelope followers on each band as well as a voltage controlled mixer for blending the outputs. The filters are steep, 6th order bandpass filters with yellow LEDs indicating the level at the envelope followers’ outputs. The voltage controlled mixer has sliders and individual CV ins and draws the, “center”, “width” and “tilt” controls from the Harmonic Oscillator allow- ing the fixed filters to be scanned across blended and mixed in various ways, all at the same time. The even and odd filters can be patched in and out separately and one side’s followers can control the other side’s levels like a vocoder."

"This is a standard 5 voice version of the Studio Electronics Omega 8 synthesizer. 5 voices discrete with Moog/Oberheim filters. This is not a proper Red Eye version. I preferred the face plate as it was a bit more updated looking and allegedly is one of only2 made. Please note: the panel indicates a sine wave option for oscillator 1, this is something included in the Code or an fully upgraded red eye. This particular machine has triangle .It is structurally identical to a standard Omega 8. This was originally a blue face model. Studio electronics can complete the process of turning this into a Red Eye {adding overdrive, red buttons and osc mod} if you wish."

Frostwave Blue Ringer Ring Mod pedal by Paul Perry

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"One used Frostwave Blue Ringer Ring Mod Pedal with power supply. Great shape, barely used, works great.

The Frostwave Blue Ringer is a true bypass box, with the standard ring mod controls of a wet/dry mix and oscillator frequency. There is a level control for the input signal, as well as a second input signal (allowing Input B to become the modulation source for the main input) and a blend control, determining the mix of the internal oscillator and Input B as the modulation source.

This particular ring modulator is excellent because it is a true proponent of the effect-- it will cross-modulate two signals. You can feed absolutely anything into Input B and have it ring modulate your main input (which is fantastic for vocal effects), and allows both the second input and the internal sine wave oscillator at the same time, offering a great deal of depth and variety. Similarly, when using just the internal oscillator, lessening the mix (i.e, adding more of the nonexistent Input B) lowers the gain of the oscillator, drastically changing the effect.

There is a control voltage input in the back for controlling the frequency of the oscillator (CV only-- Frostwave doesn't accept expression pedals, and are true to their modular synth ethos), allowing for realtime pitch sweeps. This input accepts both positive and negative voltage, so it's possible to sweep down from the slowest frequency setting, lowering the frequency to a slow tremolo..."

Novation Drum Station - 808 909 Sounds in a 1U Rack

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is the first true TR-808 / 909 clone! Unlike the rest which use only samples, the Drum Station employs analog Sound Modeling - digitally synthesized models of the original waveforms which can be shaped, just like analog. This means you can adjust the tone, attack, decay, tuning, snap, and distortion of its drum tones. It includes all of the sounds found in the original 808 and 909's, the same tone controls for each drum part, and DIN Sync output which will allow you to sync a TB-303, 909, or 808 to it, just like the original boxes.

This is the perfect source for believable, tweakable 808 and 909 drums! It also features modern functions such as full MIDI implementation and control of all parameters, distortion, front-cut edits, note-off programming, programmable drum kits with 40 memory locations, and general-midi drum mapping. Plus there are multiple assignable individual outputs!

The Soviet Union's Only EMS Synthi 100 and Ukrainian Composer Vadim Khrapatchev

This one in via Alex Mylnikov.

Baran Records has a story about the one and only Soviet Union's EMS SYNTHI 100, and Ukrainian composer Vadim Khrapatchev. You can find two of his compositions featuring the EMS SYNTHI 100 at the bottom of this post.

For the full story, head over to Baran Records. The following is just the introduction.

"Nearly a decade ago some serious Russian synth music communities on the web rediscovered a couple of electronic themes from the music score to the soviet drama «Flights in dreams and reality», which appeared on the screens back in 1983. One of them, often named as "dance at the sculptor's party" after a corresponding movie scene, was of particular interest due to its rather simple but memorable space tune with a pulsating disco beat.

Since the soundtrack was too diverse, including different genres like jazz, orchestral pieces, electronic music and pop songs, there were doubts that it could be written entirely by a single person. This led to various theories, e.g. some listeners said that it could be an unknown performer covering certain unidentified themes by Edouard Artemiev or Vangelis, while others stated that one should just look into the movie's titles for the composer's name — Vadim Khrapatchev. Besides, there were thoughts that these compositions could be recorded using the legendary EMS Synthi 100 synthesizer, the one and only existing unit in Soviet Union at that time.

This last assumption was pretty close to the truth but any other information still remained unconfirmed and up to now all attempts of contacting the author for any clarification failed. However this summer we were lucky enough to get in touch with the composer in Kiev, Ukraine and we are incredibly happy to reveal some details about these two electronic gems as well as present them on this lovely 7" record."

::vtol:: volnovod from ::vtol:: on Vimeo.

"I’ve came up with the idea of this device during a long flight, when my iPod earbuds (the standard white ones) got caught up yet again. The wires of this manufacturer are covered with special rubber that grants the earbuds a unique feature: they do not fracture or bend; they just intertwine endlessly, which prolongs their lifespan and prevents contact damage. Therefore, in a typical coincidence, my wire intertwined many times and I noticed that it resembled a complex multidimensional wave. The concept of the machine came across my mind at once: a machine that would deliberately intertwine this kind of wire in different ways, then a camera would digitize it and a special algorithm would transform the result in a parametric graph controlling different parameters of sound synthesis.

The device ‘Volnovod’ is a result. I think of this device as a hybrid machine, which combines a kinetic sound sculpture and a unique controller/tool. It bases on the concept of some small phenomenon being adapted, raised and automatized. Thus, a very peculiar for me combination of a tangible wave and depending on it soundwaves worked out.

The device operates in automatic mode, semi-automatic mode or manual mode. Two stepper motors constantly turn and intertwine the wire, moulding different types of waves. Motors operate in accordance with the random numbers-based program and randomly change the direction. Still they rotate within the preset number of steps range to prevent the wire from over-intertwining. The camera shoots a wire in front of a black background, which makes possible to achieve the highest picture contrast. Nine wave pictures are saved. Later they can be updated in automatic mode or refiled manually in semi-automatic mode or manual mode. These nine shots then morph into graphic tables with resolution of 270 x 240 points. The tables are the base to control sound synthesis options. The program can generate parameters in any suitable format: MIDI, OSC, CV. It allows to use it freely as within the system as with external devices. Graphs reading can be written down automatically or manually, with different velocity in many directions. The wave form can also put to use as a harmonic oscillator wave (akin to wavetable synthesis).

Modified Digitech PDS1002

Published on Jan 25, 2017 BugBrand

"A quick & dirty demo of the PDS1002 pedal I'm passing on.. With sounds from TR606.
Several years ago I added 8 switches which mess with the 8bit delay core.
8 data lines which you can switch on (up), off (middle) or set to cross-patch (down). Most extreme effects (massive degradation) from the first switch (top left), becoming more subtle as you progress leftwards - the lower row really do very little.
Can I remember the exact mod I did? NO! And I can't now find a PDS1002 schematic but it would basically be attacking the 8 datalines from the digital delay core."
