NAMM: IK Multimedia announces iKlip Studio
"The studio desktop stand for iPad
iKlip Studio is an adjustable iPad desktop stand designed specifically for musicians. iKlip Studio holds the iPad firmly on studio desks or other surfaces when using a variety of music and other apps.
Apps like synthesizers, beat-pads and other controllers can be played energetically on the multi-touch screen with no risk of the device moving or sliding. Its flexible orientation allows it to tilt its position from a very low-profile angle – ideal for use with apps like mixers, controllers or synthesizers – to near-vertical positioning for use as a reader for scores or tablatures or to place the iPad behind music keyboard controllers.
iKlip Studio is made of lightweight, shock-resistant thermoplastic that is durable and solid to reliably support the iPad. Rubber foot-pads grip the desktop and prevent unwanted sliding. Its support tray also fits most cases for ultra-quick positioning of an iPad of any generation.
The device can be quickly rotated between its horizontal and vertical position to suit any app, and convenient openings in the housing allow accessibility to every port of the device for charging or connecting to external speakers with handy slots for keeping the cables neatly organized. A detachable bracket is also included to hold the iRig interface adapter in place and keep it from hanging from the iPad.
For maximum portability, iKlip Studio folds completely flat so it can be quickly inserted into any iPad bag and carried anywhere.
Like the other members of the iKlip family, iKlip Studio is designed and manufactured in Italy, and it’s the perfect add-on for every IK music creation app and accessory user.
Features:
Sturdy, durable, lightweight, shock-resistant thermoplastic construction holds your iPad securely without scratching or marring it

Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii - Director's cut
YouTube Uploaded by erichc1992 on Dec 30, 2010

"Directed by Adrian Maben
Produced by Steve O'Rourke, Michele Arnaud, Reiner Moritz
Starring Pink Floyd
Music by Pink Floyd
Cinematography Willy Kurant, Gabor Pogany
Editing by Jose Pinheiro
Distributed by Universal Home Video
Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii is a 1972 film featuring Pink Floyd performing six songs in the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy. It was directed by Adrian Maben and recorded in the month of October with 24 studio-quality tracks without a live audience.
The performances of "Echoes," "A Saucerful of Secrets," and "One of These Days" were filmed from October 4, 1971 to October 7, 1971. The remaining songs were filmed in a Paris studio, along with additional front projection footage for insertion into the Pompeii performances. The sequences in Paris were filmed in late 1971/early 1972, and can be distinguished by the absence of Richard Wright's beard. This version was released in cinemas in September 1972 and is also included on the DVD edition as an extra feature.
In August 1974, another version was released combining the original film with supposed recording sessions of The Dark Side of the Moon at Abbey Road Studios. These sessions were actually staged for the film[citation needed], as the recording of the album had been completed when these sessions were filmed in January 1973 and the band was mixing the album at the time.
Track listing - 2003 Director's cut

Punchcard synths at the Seimens studio in 1967
video upload by Robotussin Vintage Synths
Click the CC in the player controls on the bottom right for subtitles.
"The electronic music studio of the Siemens company in Munich in 1967, one of the first private electronic music studios in the world. Programming electronic music back then was a complex process that involved punch cards and maths. On the plus side, there were lots of gorgeous dials to turn and Bakelite switches to play with.
The Seimens studio was set up in 1958 and used until 1968. The studio initially created “musique concrète” but later explored purely electronic works, with engineers building equipment specifically for this task. I’ve seen it said that vocoders – which were invented during World War II to encrypt voice messages – were first used in music production at this lab.
The first major work produced here was the soundtrack to a documentary called 'Impulse of our Time' ('Impuls Unserer Zeit') directed by Otto Martini. After this, the studio was rented out to radio stations for compositions and sound effects, and composers were also invited to use the equipment. Karlheinz Stockhausen was one prestigious guest who used the studio, but there were many others. But really, the studio was a showpiece for Siemens and a chance for them to test out new ideas and equipment
The studio was placed in storage and forgotten from around 1968 to 1992, when it was rediscovered. It is now permanently installed at the Deutsche Museum von Meisterwerken der Naturwissenschaft und Technik in Munich.
I took this from a 13 minute video that’s available in full on the YouTube channel freeartslab. I added the subtitles so they are not very accurate, but they give you an idea of what’s going on if you don’t speak German."

ALESIS UPGRADES DM10 STUDIO KIT WITH NEW RACK, SAME PRICE

Cumberland, R.I. (Jan. 13, 2011) – Alesis, a leading manufacturer of professional audio electronics and musical instruments, announces the 2011 edition of the DM10 Studio Kit. The new version features Alesis’ new four-post StageRack with upgraded clamps and high-quality mini-boom cymbal arms. Alesis will unveil the new DM10 Studio Kit at the 2011 NAMM Show, booth #6400, from January 13-16, Anaheim, CA.
The StageRack is the backbone of the DM10 Studio Kit. With its sturdy four-post design and industry standard, 1 1/2-inch tubing, the StageRack provides excellent stability under the most energetic performance. The StageRack's clamps, mounts and integrated boom cymbal arms are all fully adjustable with plenty of flexibility to securely fasten drums, cymbals and the DM10 module precisely where desired. Drummers will appreciate the StageRack’s large wing-screws on most clamps, enabling them to make quick adjustments without reaching for a drumkey or other tools. Large enough to accommodate additional drums and cymbals, the StageRack takes up a fraction of the space of an acoustic kit.
Drummers worldwide have taken notice of the DM10 Studio Kit. Its impressive combination of the DM10 high-definition sound module with Dynamic Articulation™, six RealHead drum pads and four DMPad cymbal pads delivers peerless value.

'In 2010, we introduced the barrier-shattering DM10 Studio Kit, ushering in a new class of drumset at its price,” said Dan Radin, Product Manager, Alesis. “For 2011, we’ve continued to raise the bar, without raising the price.'"

A synth studio and store tour of Switched-On in Austin, Texas -- including the Switched On synthesizer showroom, walk-through of the Switched On synth store and brief highlight of the synthesizer repair area.

This synth studio and store walkthrough showcases Switched On's extensive record collection, tape machines, various synthesizers, modular gear, classic vintage synths, rack units and more. To learn more about Switched On, visit https://www.switchedonaustin.com
