Train Station Girl with Moog Mother 32
Published on Feb 29, 2016 Helium Road
"It's been a while since I've published a video. I have a new computer and new video software to learn how to use. But I finally got my first Moog synthesizer and it's a wonderful machine. Everything you hear in this short track was made using only the M32, either by sequencing or by manual playing. I hope you enjoy this sampling of what it can do.
All sounds created using a Moog Mother 32 synthesizer played into a Korg Sound-on-Sound handheld multitrack recorder, with reverb added during recording.
Video Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 12"

LAB:1 Synthesizer by Artificial Noise - New Case, Now with VCF!
Published on Feb 29, 2016 Artificial Noise
"New Video featuring the updated case design for the LAB:1 Synthesizer. Since the new case is larger I was able to add a Voltage Controlled Low Pass Filter!
The filter is interesting, in that when the resonance is cranked to max, it drives the filter hard causing a nice fuzzy saturation. You can hear the saturation here and there in the video as I turn the knobs.
The LAB:1 Synthesizer is a 6 oscillator experimental analog synthesizer. It features 3 audio oscillators (with Triangle, Sawtooth and Square waveforms), 3 low frequency oscillators (with Triangle and Square waveforms) and 1 voltage controlled low pass filter. The 6 oscillators can be routed in various ways by switches on the front panel. The 3 audio oscillators can also be triggered individually by three buttons on the front of the case or allowed to run freely. The LAB:1 is 100% analog.
A little delay and reverb have been added to the video.

"This is a Rare Korg FK-1 Synthpedal. A unique filter pedal. As far as I understand, this is the same filter that the Korg 700 has(the very first Korg synth from 1974) . This is a quite different filter and I never tried another FK-1 so I have nothing to compare it to but it seems like it is working fine. I took a video of this actual unit so you can judge for yourself - VIDEO When the balance pot is set all the way to the left side, you get the original source and when it is set to the right side you get the filtered signal. As you can hear in the video, even when the low-pass slider (the top ‘traveler' slider) is set to full range(all the way to the right), the signal sounds quite filtered, however, using the balance knob, you can make up for lack of high frequency if needed. I don’t have the expression pedal so I wasn’t able to test the Remote function.

Beginning with serial number #171700, the 12-bit DAC was upgraded to a 14-bit DAC.
This increased the resolution of the controls. Lucky for you, this unit is the superior 14 bit version.
The soldered-in battery typically lasts ten years or more, ranking these boards among the lowest-maintenance of their generation.
The battery on this unit was replaced last year, when serviced."

16 analog filters make a massive difference to the sound of the oscillator section. They are noticeably different than the digital filters (which are very good anyways, if you've never played with a Q you'd be surprised).
In addition to the 16 analog filters, the Q+ gives you 100 voices (the standard Q is 16 voices, or 32 voices with the rare expansion)
Add onto that an arpeggiators and a sequencer per voice.
And wait till you check out the Xphorm function that allows the morphing between two completely different patches, assignable to things like key velocity and the mod wheel.
The Waldorf Q+ is topped off with 8 effects processors (2 per sound that include Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Overdrive, AM, Delay, Reverb, etc.), oh, and add on a very nifty random function, plus drum mapping for dedicated percussion sounds and you have one of the most powerful synthesizers ever made.
From a physical perspective, there’s 58 knobs (all send/receive MIDI), lovely keyboard and pitch/mod wheels, 2 analog audio inputs, 6 outputs and 1 S/PDIF output (44.1kHz / 48kHz switchable), CV control, and of course Midi In/Out/Thru
The power supply is universal, so wil work anywhere in the world. with no need to worry about step up/down transformers."

"The idea here was to make a Dark Ambient type drone track using the standalone sequencer program ZAQuencer.
ZAQuencer is sequencing a Blofeld and TX7 while I transpose the sequence with a Launchkey49 and play with the controls on the Bass StationII. LoopyHD (running some pre-made loops) is slaved to the ZAQ clock. I mix it all real-time on the BX8. I use an Alesis Wedge and TC Electronic Hall of Fame for FX. The whole setup is standalone. Single take, no overdubs.

Korg Volca Sample Tutorial: Creating Endless Decay / Drones [by Schtang]
Published on Nov 25, 2015 Schtang
Cool trick.
"Here is a simple little trick to turn your Korg Volca Sample into a drone maker or simply make a sample loop forever!
All sounds used in this video were made from the Volca Sample Factory Default Samples.
Creating a drone is just one application that can be made utilizing this nifty trick. You could create atmosphere for your patterns or weird noise oscillations.
This trick can also be used to create transitions between two different patterns.
If you find this tutorial useful, or end up incorporating it in your music, please let me know about it and record it so I can check it out!"

Haken Continuum Goes To RUSSIA
Published on Feb 27, 2016 Peter Pringle
"Here’s something new and different for those of you who are interested in the Haken Continuum Fingerboard.
One of the new presets designed by audio wizard Edmund Eagan for the latest firmware version of the Haken Continuum is called TWO HANDED VOICE. As its name implies it takes two hands to control it: one hand for pitch, the other for the formant (i.e. the vowel sound you want to make - AH…EH…EE..OO…etc.) This precludes the possibility of playing another instrument simultaneously (such as a keyboard) because you don’t have a free hand to do it with. Normally, for the TWO HANDED VOICE, one hand moves from left to right on the upper part of the fingerboard (called the ‘Y’ axis), and the other from left to right on the lower part, with each hand controlling a different function.
So I devised “the FINGAH” (that’s New Yorkese for “finger”) which I cobbled together from bits & pieces I cannibalized from here & there. Never throw anything away because the minute you do you’re going to need it!!
Here is a video I made showing “the fingah” in action. The device fits snugly onto the Continuum, and exerts exactly the right amount of pressure on the upper part of the ‘Y’ axis, leaving one of your two hands free. The pressure (which is adjustable) is exerted by a roller, so there is no friction or drag on the neoprene fingerboard surface, and the formant can be modified by sliding the “fingah” along a rail that supports it from above. Everything is on roller bearings, both above and below, so it just seems to float along. Volume is controlled by finger pressure of the pitch hand. The “fingah” is hinged, like a lid, so you can easily lift it from the fingerboard when it is not in use, without having to remove it altogether from your setup.
Edmund Eagan’s TWO HANDED VOICE is the best, most versatile, and most consistently believable electronic vocal emulation I have ever heard. I love it….and it is so easy to play!"

"The keyboard works perfectly and shows no rack rash or noticeable signs of use. What made this b-stock is that there is a damaged spot on the circuit board with jumper wire, and the keyboard is slightly bowed (see pictures). These issues do not effect the functions of the keyboard (and are unnoticeable when racked). Comes in original box with original documentation, packaging, ribbon power cable, and rack screws (with plastic washers)."

Minilogue through Microbrute Filter- and a Roland Tape Delay - TR8

"NOTE--THERE are lots of extreme volume fluctuations here. Sorry about that. But just be careful if you're listening on headphones.... SO...I had a request to demo what the Minilogue sounds like through the Microbrute Steiner-Parker filter. My take on it? It sounds bad ass. Like a Bad Ass Boss. I start simple in the video, as usual. Just one square wave from the Minilogue with no modulation at all, running into the audio input of the Microbrute. I tried to sweep the filter with differing amounts of resonance and Brute Factor so you can see how the Microbrute filter affects the Minilogue.
After a bit of noodling, I started a simple sequence from the Minilogue and used the Micro's filter and sequencer. Simple drum pattern playing on the TR8. By using the sequencer, you get the envelope to modulate as well. Ideally, you'd have a Keyboard going in to the Micro to control the envelope with note-on, note-off info, but you get a very interesting delay type effect when you use the sequencer, and change the rate relative to the Minilogue.
I just can't seem to lay off the Roland RE-301 Space Echo, so you get some tape delay in this video as well. I felt like I should be auditioning for a Flock of Seagulls cover band at one point (you'll notice).
But I hope you enjoy this little demo. The Micro's Steiner Parker filter is much more aggressive than the Minilogue's and is a really nice complement to it"

RF Nomad: Atomic Shadow Edition Available March 2016

"The wait is nearly over! The finalized aluminum RF Nomad Atomic Shadow Edition faceplates recently arrived from the sheetmetal vendor, and they look fantastic! Only a few more components remain to arrive before the first batch of 5U RF Nomad modules will begin to roll off the assembly line.
Each RF Nomad: Atomic Shadow Edition module will be hand-built and individually calibrated and tested by Evaton Technologies' founder, engineer, and chief bottle-washer: Russ Hoffman.

Once modules are available to ship, I will send out another emailing to announce the finalized price and payment options.
The final module will include a length of coax cable with PL-259 connections on each end, and a hand crafted dipole antenna suitable for indoor installation. By using standard RF connectors, third-party outdoor antennas can also be used, for increased reception.
I'm looking forward to shipping a great product, and also to seeing what music all of you will create with it.

I'd like to thank Rod Mitchell (Atomic Shadow (www.atomicshadow.com)), Consulting Artist on this project, for all his input, inspiration, and encouragement. Rod's been twisting my arm to make some more modules in 'Man-Sized' 5U format, as he calls it. His efforts on that front may have succeeded; stay tuned!

May need slight adjusting, one filter seems slightly too bright to my ears, easy adjustment with internal trimmers.
Looks like it has some foam rash on the back of it. Could be cleaned off easily. All keys work.
Have not tried CV/Gate, but have no reason to believe they wouldnt work. This is set up for the full 56 programs, but it needs one eprom to fill it out. All chips are there."

BURG - Album Movement 06
Published on Feb 27, 2016 ollilaboratories
"If you like my stuff, please support me on http://music.ollilab.com
This is the 6th movement, with a bit dubby feel to it.. track is not so downtempo but no 4 on the floor beat, so it feels a bit more relaxed. No vocal samples, just melodies.. plus i wanted to explore a solo show down between the ms20 and the system-1 :) I had a lot of fun on this one ..
As on the other vids, the audio your hear on this one is the 2 track edit, 16 tracks as planned on the other tracks will be polished for the album if it makes the cut :)
Gear Used: KORG volca bass, keys, sample, Novation Circuit, ms-20 mini, SQ-1, Elektron Analog Four, Roland Aira TR-8, System-1, Arturia Microbrute, Roland boutique JX03, Nord Lead A1
FX and Mixer: PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2, KORG kaoss pad, strymon timeline, SolidgoldFX electroman, Zoom MS70 CDR, Jomox t-resonator, Mooer Reecho"

Japanese Ocean - a 96BPM eurorack modular synthesizer patch.
Published on Feb 26, 2016 Luke Killen
"This patch features a Mutable Instruments Ring to make some beautiful strings. a WMD/SSF spectrum filtered through the lowpass of a Manhattan Analog SVVCF to make a lovely key tone I use some noise from a Steady State Fate Ultra-Random Analogue filtered by a RYO Aperture for the ocean wash and also to Frequency modulate a Makenoise DPO's SIN output as the basis of a hit hat source. The snare is a made with a Noise engineering Basimilus Iteratus and the Kick comes from Mutable instruments Peaks."
