I am not a huge fan of over modulating drum sounds - quite often an accent is all one needs to make the drum programming come to life, but sometimes certain things really do benefit from extra modulation.

Patch Notes:
There are five "sounds" in the mix. NCO 1, NCO 1 processed by the VC Divider, NCO 2 through the bottom of the Wave Multiplier, DUSG 1 through the top of the Wave Multiplier and White Noise. All sounds are mixed together using the BOG's mixer and one of MARSH's CV Processors. Modulation is done by the two Utility LFOs, which are joined by the panel switch. One square wave output triggers the remaining DUSG, which's EOS output triggers an ADSR on the MASRH. There the two Slope Detectors analyse the slopes of LFO one and the DUSG, creating more triggers, used for modulation (e.g. the pitch of the oscillators is modulated by triggers, making them change between two notes.). LFO 1 also modulates the VC Divider to create changing sub-octaves of NCO 1. The audio mix goes through the VCF then, which is modulated by the Wave Multiplier output (for FM) and the CV Cluster, receiving input and offset from an LFO and Slope Detector. I'm playing with the audio mix and filter cutoff, CV and resonance mostly."

"PolyMUX is a MIDI chain (polychain) effect in the RK-002/MOD firmware.
You can use it inside multi-MIDI channel machines like the Digitakt ( [see this post] ), Electribe,... but also with... well anything MIDI.... who knows what will come out right?
The PolyMUX setting can be changed on your RK-002/MOD on this settings page:
The base MIDI response channel on the RK-002 is where the PolyMUX effect will be applied, the extra PolyMUX channels indicate the extra channels to which the notes will be spread and MIDI data will be copied.
So Channel 1 + 3 PolyMUX = Receiving on channel 1 and sending out on 1,2,3,4.
The web settings page only allows up to 7 extra channels but actually you can fill up all MIDI channels. You're free to use hardcore sysex to address this anyhow or comment below if you have any objections to this restriction and want to see it increased on the webpage :-)
Note on applying settings to the RK-002 cable: Be sure to have a MIDI-Power interface which also has MIDI System Exclusive support."

Brian Kehew wrote in to let us know synth legend David Van Koevering passed away yesterday at the age of 77. Per Brian, "So many people in the industry knew him; such a long and varied life!" Indeed. The following is the obituary sent to him from Van Koevering's family.
"Doepfer showed us how some of their new modules can be used to more easily create polyphonic sounds with a eurorack modular synthesizer. The A 190-5 converts polyphonic midi to CV, the A 111-4 is a quad VCO that could be used for a four voice synth or independently. In this patch a keyboard sets the chord, and a trigger sequencer controls the gates for the four voices."

"Resurrecting my old E&MM Spectrum synthesizer I built as a teenager back in the early 80's. The VCOs, VCF and VCAs are CEM-based chips and, with that sub osc on VCO1, have a pretty nice amount of grit - perhaps not surprising given the Pro-One pedigree. Did a little mod inside to bypass the not-really-worth-servicing keyboard - so now I no longer have to worry about it drifting sharp when controlling it purely through its CV/GATE in. In addition to pitch, the second CV channel from the nifty little SQ-1 feeds into the controller input which can be routed to VCF, PW, and even VCO-2 for some paraphonic fun."

"Legendary synth designer Tom Oberheim has returned, along with a current rendition of his classic SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module). The SEM, Tom’s first synthesizer, was well loved for its beautiful sound and just the right combination of synthesis modules and patching in a compact, portable package. In fact it was so revered that people requested Tom make the SEM again, so he did. Consisting of a 100% analog signal path through two oscillators, two envelope generators, one LPF and one filter, the SEM is an exceptionally massive sound design module.
The SEM Patchpanel module incorporates 33 patch points with basic connections for one-volt-per-octave VCO control voltage and a standard 0 to +5 volt gate signal. Growing from my PhD research at McGill University, under Jonathan Sterne's supervision, Mad Skills is a timely cultural history of MIDI — as you know, the most ubiquitous and yet invisible technology across the past thirty-five years of music making. In the book, I situate MIDI within a century's worth of innovation in musical instrument design, and chronicle the industrial and social forces that guided electronic music on toward its present trajectory. "I've read some threads online where people wonder if it's possible to control a Buchla system from the Elektron Analog Keys or Analog Four.
It works perfectly. You need to adjust a few things on the Elektron unit. 10v gate plus 1.2 v/oct. It's possible to save these settings so it's a really easy way to have a great sequencer for your Buchla.
You can use slides, accents, trig conditions etc.
Not many sequencers can control a Buchla system like this!"
"Sonicware is debuting with their first hardware synth called the ELZ_1. The lead engineer is taking inspiration from NES, MSX, and I'm sure the OP-1, and making this sturdy little synth. There are still refinements to be made, but it's coming along nicely for a late 2018 release."

Cleaned all pots/switches
No notorious black gunk on the board (this was a problem with these)
Replaced every electrolytic capacitor with new ones

Changed it so Oscilator 2 pitch change now goes up/down a little more than an octave

The MG-1 includes:
Two oscillators with sync & detune, one producing either a Square or Sawtooth waveform, with the other producing either a Pulse or Sawtooth waveform.
One 24db/oct low pass filter/VCF, that can use the envelope generator, has three-position keyboard tracking, and is capable of self oscillation.
Three-part envelope generator, with separately adjustable Attack and Decay or Release, and selectable Sustain on or off. The Envelope Generator can be triggered by either the keyboard, or the LFO.
Oscillator 2 can be tuned independently or hard-synced to Oscillator 1.
Noise generator. (Digital Pseudo-Random Noise)
Ring modulation (called "Bell Tone" this is Amplitude Modulation of VCO 1 and 2).
Polyphonic oscillator. This is a divide-down square wave generator. It is routed to the VCF and the VCA.
LFO that can modulate the oscillators and the filter using a Triangle, square or random Sample and Hold waveform
