I am using the Korg Kronos as a sequencer & drum machine in this video.
Analog Drum Kit is coming from the Korg Kronos
Both JU-06A + TX7 are on MIDI channel 1. Simple synth layer & sequence!
Both synths give that vintage flavor without breaking the bank!
The TX7 is fantastic for having a DX7 to work with & the JU-06A
is great for having the JUNO-60 + JUNO-106 in one for the money!
I have a new meteorite I found near Rockport, Colorado on the TX7.
Hard to see thru all the space FX but you will get to see it again soon! :)"

Mystery Model 101 Vocoder

This one is in via supporting member, David Bivins who currently put it up for sale on eBay here.

He picked it up used at a Japanese auction site, and unfortunately does not know the history behind it. I've never seen it before. If you know anything aobut it, primarily who made it and when, feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of this post.

via David in the listing: "Very cool looking vintage 10-band vocoder. Does not work and is missing parts - for one thing, there is no power supply! I purchased it this way and have decided I do not have the time to devote to repairing it."

Update: it was listed on a Japanese auction site as an E.E.W. Model 101 Vocoder. E.E.W. stands for Eizuka Engineering Workshop 永塚策英 Japan Yokohama according to @analogjimmy.

If you search online for Eizuka Engineering Workshop you will find a few additional references.

"I've gone down this rabbit hole before. EEW made some wind synths and utility rack gear. Seems like it was a small company. The name I've seen associated with EEW is Sakuhide Nagatsuka but I have no idea the relationship. Some EEW gear was apparently sold via retailer Ishibashi."

According to that thread, it's possible Sakuhide Nagatsuka passed away based on some online discussions.

New Buchla Programmable Octal Signal Source Model 360 Coming from Roman Filippov

Roman Filippov as you know is the man behind Sputnik Modular, Black Corporation, and various Buchla DIY projects. Black Corporation is focused on full blown desktop synths including Deckard’s Dream, Kijimi, Xerses, as well as some erurorack adaptations of various components of these synths. Sputnik focuses on Roman's line of primarly west coast inspired eurorack modules. Roman has also offered one-off creations of classic designs for the DIY market.

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

Update: "It has stereo, quad outputs as well. Will be 8 voices, 3osc per voice with built in enveloppe and VCAs - fully 24osc synth (shouldn't the VCA be LPG on the OG?). Inputs wil be via digital buss from 221r. You'll have to have both modules to make 360 funtcionnal. Also coming this summer. 300 computer open source module is also in the works."

An update from Roman sent my way via Soviet Space Child.

"The 360r will have 15 programmable outputs with full control from the 221r (standard midi messages), it uses a 16-core mcu/dsp by XMOS and 24b/216KHz 16ch codec by Cirrus Logic.

The 221r will have midi and usb i/o and 4x digital ports for communication with the other modules. It also uses a combination of accelerometer and gyroscope for the bend function. also i hope to decode 200e I2C buss, it already has it connected."

"Couldn't resist pulling the trigger when I found one of these for sale online. It plays back 8-bit samples stored on cartridges, with velocity routed to amplitude and optionally pitch. Mine only came with the 'ROTOTOM1' cartridge, but I was able to scan in and copy the cartridge PCB to produce my own; which in this case have the TR-909 cymbals on them.

It's basically a rebadged Clavia unit, with a different paint job. I think the cartridges are also compatible with the original Clavia DDrum rack system (but not the later 'Sound Pac' ones)."

Its first generation, released in the 90s as Syncussion DRM1, caught wide attention. The MKII-version then continued and broadened the success and breathed new life into the VERMONA brand at the turn of the millennium. With the DRM1 MKIII, that we have been building since 2006, we can now look back at a total of 25 years of DRM1! This makes it one of the longest-lived electronic musical instruments. And we’re ready to launch the next quarter-century with this analog drum synthesizer from VERMONA.

DRM1 MKIV: Familiar, yet evolved
At first glance, you may not notice any difference from its predecessor. Indeed, from the outside, there isn’t any! The overall concept and user interface have remained the same: There are eight instrument channels, each with nine knobs for sound shaping, pan and volume control. The DRM1 is a musical instrument, a creative tool that wants to be touched and played.

Instead of trying to reinvent or change an already well-proven external design, with this update to version MKIV we decided to focus on the inside. We took time to thoroughly listen into the circuits and put energy and care into its details: Thoughtfully tweaking frequency ranges, revamping control curves, adjusting levels and redesigning sub-circuits. Our goal was to make the DRM1 MKIV the best drum synthesizer we've ever built!

DRM1 MKIV: Sociable and dynamic
To make integration into your studio more comfortable, we equipped the DRM1 MKIV with USB-MIDI in addition to the standard MIDI connections.

The optional trigger inputs have been significantly upgraded. Beyond gate pulses, they now also accept different voltage levels for triggering the instrument channels dynamically. The DRM1 MKIV with trigger inputs can also convert the analog signals into MIDI notes via USB or the newly added MIDI OUT connector making it an incredibly versatile MIDI interface.

Whether you're controlling the DRM1 MKIV via a DAW, a hardware sequencer, or a modular system, you’ll have the proper connection and further the ability to send the MIDI notes to additional devices.

DRM1 MKIV: More power under the hood
The power supply of the DRM1 MKIV is completely new. It now works anywhere in the world, without having to manually change the mains voltage. This is a huge relief for all of you who use the instrument at live shows. No less important: it works more energy-efficient than the old one!

"Synth powers on and does produce sound. However, the sounds seem to be random and erratic, and no longer correspond with the programs on a consistent basis. Also, it appears some of the keys may be sticking - not physically, but certain presets will produce sound even when no key is being pressed.

Synth was in perfect working order until I recently moved across the country and plugged it back in. My guess is that something internally must have knocked loose during transport. I did briefly open the panel just to see if there were any obvious issues such as an unsoldered wire, but nothing stuck out to me. Cosmetically, the synth looks great, with only some light chipping in the paint on one of the side panels (see photo). All buttons, keys and joystick work.

This would make for a great project synth for anyone interested in tinkering around with it."

UAFX Pedals + Prophet 5 Synth (Starlight Echo, Golden Reverberator & Astra Modulation Machine)

"Universal Audio's new line of stereo effect pedals work with guitar level signals but they also work great with synth and even eurorack levels. In this video keyboardist Nick Semrad came by our studio to play a Sequential Prophet 5 through these UAFX pedals. All three of these pedals have a USB-C port for installing other UA effects onto them and they also have presets.

The delay pedals is the Starlight Echo Station which has tape, bucket brigade and clean delay modes. The reverb is the Golden Reverberator which has spring, plate and hall algorithms. And the Astra Modulation Machine can do chorus, flanger and tremolo sounds.

Nurse Ratchet is a trigger processor and generator, designed to add an organic chain of events (bursts) to your modular setup.

"The Russians Are Coming!

What happens when you apply 1950's era Soviet technology to a modern analog
synth? You get the new SSL 2530 Tube VCA / Timbral Gate module - a wild blend of vacuum tube warmth and distortion, along with an incredibly useful VCA that is so much more than the sum of its parts.
The 2530 uses miniature pencil-sized vacuum tubes that were developed and refined by the Russians over 60 years ago. They are exceptionally low current and low voltage devices - so there's no need to generate the traditional high-voltage power supplies that are required for most other vacuum tubes. Very cool stuff!

While it’s a surprisingly good VCA, it really shines when it’s over-driven - rounding and folding the input waveforms like nothing else available. In some modes, it’s prone to whacky self-oscillation that can be made to lock onto the harmonics of the input waveform in cascading howls. Totally adjustable and controllable.

In conjunction with and licensed by Ken Stone (CGS), Synthetic Sound Labs has further expanded on Ken's designs to include several other circuit enhancements to make your Russian dreams "Come True".

SSL has added LEDs behind the tube to visually emulate the warm glow of the filament, and pulsating blue LEDs that simulate tubes as they are being driven by control voltages. A custom acrylic window shows off the effects in true retro fashion.

The Doepfer A-112 sampler can be a quite cool LoFi delay or ptichshifter. (Example 2 + 3)

The Elektron Monomachine is only used as Midi keyboard and sequencer.

Somewhat of a prophetic quote from one of the questions and answers in the video:

With the oftentimes wildly varying out levels of measurement instruments this is risky, but if you know what you are doing, it is a fun way to add just a touch of scientific-industrial sound to your setup. In this example, I am using among others the HP8006A to control rhythms on the Metasonix D1000 and the @Erica Synths​ SYNTRX, as well as processing vintage lock-in amplifiers through the SYNTRX.

Clone of the legendary Taurus 1.

Without the annoying pedals, but with MIDI.

All controls are as in the original (except for the 3 presets).

Features like glide and decay switches are also available.

Foot Loudness is on the Mod. Wheel.

Completely discreetly built in analogue, no SMD parts were installed.

2 linear sawtooth oscillators provide a lot of pressure and are tuned immediately after switching on.

Frequency range 5 octaves (1 octave lower than the original and starts at 16 Hz).

Osc. B can be detuned by +/- 1 octave.

Classic 24dB ladder filter with resonance (up to self-oscillation).

The envelopes were adopted 1: 1 and contribute a lot to the typical Taurus sound.

Deep bass in the smallest of spaces.

MIDI thru jack.

Stable, powder-coated aluminum housing.

Made entirely by hand.
