video by Ronnie Augeri

"Original synth pop composition written and recorded by Ronnie Augeri on a fully overhauled Juno 106, featuring a stunning custom red livery. This synth has had endless hours of excruciating detail put into it, and is currently for sale. [listed here]

Shoutout and thanks to my friend Allen over at synthspa for putting together this beautiful red enclosure and overlay for me! https://synthspa.com/ Big thanks to my friend Dom for mixing and mastering this track on such short notice and doing an awesome job. Check him out! https://dominicdelore.com/"

This one was sent my way via Brant.

Pics of the inside below.

"Completely overhauled Roland Juno 106 in a custom red livery. Synth is as close to brand new as you can get. This is not your average restoration and has countless hours of excruciating detail put into it.

The power supply was fully rebuilt with 5000 hour Nichicon caps, all electrolytic and ceramic caps replaced along with the voltage regulators and dual regulator controller.

I originally tried new replacement sliders and although they worked perfect, I was not impressed with the tactile feel. As a result, all 17 original ALPS sliders were completely disassembled, thoroughly cleaned, lubricated with quality silicone grease and reassembled. They have an incredibly smooth and firm feel. The panel board also features 34 new tactile switches, and 3 new alps 2 position slide switches. The 3 mini sliders on the bender board were also disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated.

Every board was stripped, thoroughly degreased, and washed. They have a glossy sheen appearance like they would from the factory.

All 6 voice chips are original and have had the conformal coating stripped. Each voice chip was completely reflowed and installed on pin headers for easy removal or swapping. The synth was burn-in tested for 8 hour periods on several different days, absolutely no issues.

CPU board has new battery installed.

The entire keybed assembly has been completely stripped. Every single key was hand washed/degreased and polished. The keys are the whitest I have seen, this board appears to have very little use and was kept away from the sun. All rubber dome contacts despite working, were removed, and thoroughly cleaned. The carbon tracks on the keyboard assembly were also cleaned. This is a future proofing process which will insure several more decades of reliable note triggering.

A 3 prong standard IEC receptacle has been installed and a quality brand new power cable is included.
All solder joints have been inspected and common control areas have been reflowed. All potentiometers have been cleaned.

Full calibration performed, no crackle in the chorus!

The synth is 100% functional and is in perfect cosmetic and electronic condition."

ELKA Wilgamat III Chapter 2 - WE FOUND THE PEDAL

video by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"We got so excited when we managed to score the Fill-In pedal for the Elka Wilgamat III that we needed to make a video.
Please do not watch this unless you're a serious vintage gear freak.
We mean that.
The machines rhythm section has 3 'break' options that can only be engaged by a unique foot pedal.
This pedal is very rare.
It is also HUGE.

Keep watching :)"

What The Heck Is A Moog/Realistic MG-1?

video by Josh Is Making Music

LoFi Sunday #15: Hopeful (Roland SP-404SX and Moog MG-1)
video by Josh Is Making Music

"I picked up a Moog/Realistic Concertmate MG-1 off of Facebook marketplace, and while I plan on doing a larger video exploring it, I couldn't help but play around with it for a lofi jam. The SP-404SX has become one of my favorite music-making platforms, and for this song, I'm adding reverb to the MG-1 with the 404. The chord patterns and bassline were sampled from the Korg Prologue. If you're already subscribed, thanks for coming back! And if you're not already subscribed and you enjoyed this video, please consider subscribing to help support the channel. Thanks!"

New WMD eurorack module announcement - OSD

video by WMDevices

"OSD, aka OR SUM DIF, is 3 independent blocks of useful utility in 4HP.

OSD is centered around combining voltage in useful ways. Audio, V/Oct, and control voltage are at home in this utility. OSD offers a fully DC coupled signal path with precision components to make this happen. High quality, configurability, and compact size ensure OSD will always find it's way into your patch.

- Combine v/Oct sequences with precision summing, or enable the the precision OR circuit for completely different results.

- Mix two envelopes or an envelope and lfo using sum to create large accented voltages or combine with OR to keep the output in the original range.

- Crossfade between audio or control voltage using the potentiometer in block one. Setting DIF will invert the signal at the B jack."

Mixing, panning, polarizing and feedback - with Metabolic Devices Papomi

video by Monotrail Tech Talk

"Today we’re having a closer look at the Metabolic Devices Papomi! It’s a powerful swiss army knife for modular eurorack utilities. It works with audio and control voltages, and can be used as a mixer, attenuator, inverter, offset generator, panner and polarizer. But the combination of functions also make it really suitable for sonic experiments and feedback patches.

We go over the features and functions of the module, and then dive into a series of patches. From basic stereo panning, to more experimental drone and generative feedback patches.

Roland JV-880 | A small monster

video by Espen Kraft

"The Roland JV-880 from 1992. The module version of the JV-80. In my opinion the best of all the JV/JD modules in terms of raw bottom end cinematic epic sound. I'm not saying it can do everything else that the others can, but what it can is to deliver fat, solid bass. The 1080, 2080 etc always sounded hollow to me. The JD-990 is very glossy, but lacks the raw punch as well.
Luckily, the JV-880 is the cheapest of them all to get so no need to wait, get online and pick them up!

Super Rare Waldorf Wave Shadow -32 Voice- 76 Keys for Sale

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video by Borish Electronics

Listed for sale on Reverb here.

"For sale is an ultra rare 32 voice 76 key Waldorf Wave Shadow! You won't ever see another one like this for sale again. There were only 300~ made and probably less than 100 have these options!"

Listed at $39,999, so $40k.

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

Details via the auction

"Ultra rare 32 voice 76 key Waldorf Wave Shadow! You won't ever see another one like this for sale again. There were only 300~ made and probably less than 100 have these options!

This Wave was formerly owned by Drew Neumann and he took very good care of it. His friend's signatures can be seen on the back panel under the face plate.

There are almost no issues with this synth. There are 3 LEDs out and the display is dim - that's it. I purchased some replacement LEDs but would need to modify the circuit board to match the intensity of the originals. The owner and I decided it was not in our best interest to change them, so they have been left alone. The LEDs that are out are the -1 OCT footing for OSC 1, the -2 OCT footing for OSC1, and the HOLD LED in the manager panel. I can include the replacement leds in the sale. Unfortunately, there are no replacement options available for the back light on the display. The ELP can be replaced, but it is very very risky. Again, we decided to leave it alone.

The hydrolics that hold up the back panel fail all of the time. I just replaced them last week. Also, a new pair is included in the sale.

The original disk drive has been replaced with a 16GB USB drive.

The internal battery was replaced last week and the operating system was updated to OS 1.910. More info can be found here about the new OS:

unofficial.waldorf-wave.de/

I went through the entire self test menu. All buttons, sliders, and potentiometers are working perfectly without glitches or data skips. All potentiometers move smoothly and feel fresh. You can see from the pictures that all of the self tests came back OK. You can also see that 32 voices have been installed and are working perfectly."

Note the last image of the display below shows Board 3 not installed and a Failed message. I'm guessing that's one of the slave boards that would bring it up to 48 voices, referenced here.

Restored Vintage ARP Quadra Synthesizer Keyboard with MIDI

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
video by Synth Chaser

via this auction

"This ARP Quadra has just been professionally overhauled by Synthchaser, the foremost expert on ARP Quadras! Work done included new orange LED sliders (illumination can be disabled before shipping at buyer's request), recap of all tantalum and electrolytic capacitors, new touch sensor, keyboard refurbishment, new IC chips, reliability enhancements, and perhaps most unique of all... this may be the world's first ARP Quadra with MIDI!

While many synths are listed as "serviced" or "fully serviced", they are usually devoid of any details of what was actually done. Those that do provide details or service invoices often reveal that the synth was merely superficially serviced, and not genuinely "future-proofed". I have not only serviced this Quadra, I've taken it down to the chassis and overhauled it. Work done included:

Korg Opsix - Sensitive FM Keys Presets (Demo/No Talking)

video by Anton Anru

"Welcome to the soundset for Korg Opsix - Sensitive Keys.
It is a collection of 50 beautiful keys presets: pianos, plucks, mallets, bells, stabs, synths, organs, brasses, clavinets, and others. This bank of presets will give you a wide palette of sounds: gentle and rough, dry and wet, acoustic-like and electronic, soft and clicky, short and sustained.

🔔 Get "Sensitive Keys" soundset: https://bit.ly/36FBL3S

All the presets are very lively and expressive. Velocity controls envelope, tone, effects, etc. This gives an illusion of a real acoustic instrument articulation.
ModWheel adds new colors to each timbre. Movement: tremolo, vibrato, or filter modulation; brightness and power, new layers and effects; attack and decay behavior.

Opsix parts are composed and performed by Dmitry Chemyrev.
For some presets we chose a 5-octave midi keyboard to play parts with wider notes range.

DIY Analog Synthesizer Demo

video by wuukaa

"🎹 It's my Монофоникс !

This analog synthesizer is my first big project, it still has lots of things yo work on (unstable tune, noise module, MIDI2CV, ...) I made all the PCBs(manufactured by JLCPCB) and the case myself, just have to work on the labelling of each pots, becausee it looks like a kids project lol :)

On this demo I used my trusty power supply to feed the volage in the CV input of the 2 VCO because my MIDI to CV board is reeeally bad (I suck at coding lol). So the gate signal was always on which makes the enveloppes completely useless in this setup but don't worry I'll try to fix that later on!

And if you can help me with the code of the MIDI to CV I'd be really greatful because mine is pure shi* :3"

Innovative Instruments: Vongon Paragraphs - a musical demo of this gorgeous modulation pedal!

video by Joel Negus

"I took the Vongon Paragraphs for a spin around my home studio with the Teenage Engineering OP-1, the Arturia Polybrute, and my 1977 Rhodes. Listen to how this beautiful instrument interacts!

0:00 Introduction
2:32 OP-1 w/ Paragraphs
3:42 Polybrute w/ Paragraphs
4:43 Rhodes w/ Paragraphs"

"Paragraphs is an analog four-pole resonant low pass filter with an attack, decay (AD) envelope generator designed with focus on simplicity and flexibility.

Low Pass Filter

The heart of the filter circuit is the AS3320 analog chip — a modern replica of the same component used in analog classics like the Sequential Prophet 5, Pro-One mono-synth, Elka Synthex, and the LinnDrum. Cutoff spans the full audio spectrum and resonance starts to self-oscillate at about seventy percent.
Modulation

The envelope generator offers modulations in an uncommonly wide range of frequencies — starting as low as 0.05 hz for slowly evolving 20 second long cycles, and reaching up to (and past) the audio threshold at 300 hz for a wave shaping effect similar to sounds found on west coast style synthesizers (“think Buchla”).
Flexible Gain Stages

Paragraphs accepts instrument and line level signals. Dedicated controls for input (drive) and output level make it easy to move between a crystal clear clean tone and and a clipping fuzz. A multi-color LED provides a visual representation of the signal level. Red indicates clipping. Orange flashes indicate the start of overload. Green indicates the presence of signal at or below the nominal level.
CV and MIDI

Inputs for Control Voltage (CV) and midi are available to remotely trigger the envelope generator. This enables your Paragraphs to stay in rhythmic synchronization with external systems like midi sequencers, euroracks, and digital audio workstations."

Bad Gear - Yamaha CS1x - Not Exactly My Thing video by AudioPilz

Just discovered this series. Above is the latest video featuring the Yamaha CS1x. Below is a playlist of previous videos in the series. I'm guessing the CS1x will be added. P.S. I actually own a CS1x and SU10 so it's kind of fun seeing them paired in this video. The CS1x is all ROMpler but it does have some nice icy strings. It has a bright digital character about it - like it's permanently run through a glassy sounding reverb.

Physical Synthesis Cicada - Acoustic Vibration Synthesizer

video uploads by Physical Synthesis

via Physical Synthesis

"Cicada is an inherently human and expandable modular system comprised of five primary components: AMP, PRE, Actuator, Bridge, and Soundboard.

The Cicada Actuator generates vibration through two voice-coil motors supplied from up to three amplified input signals (carrier modulator, and DC offset).

These vibrations are carried across a steel Bridge and transformed into a nonlinear tip-surface interactions with a Soundboard containing a piezoelectric pickup. The signal from the pickup is pre-amplified, filtered, and compressed to +5dB level output to either direct (speakers) or back into a DAW or effects chain.

In addition to audio, the Cicada Soundboard has four force sensitive resistors (FSRs) located beneath the four corners of the unit. When the soundboard material is compressed, the FSRs transmit CV voltages (0 to 5V+) from each of the four FSRs.

Unique Components

Cicada is an expandable modular system comprised of five primary components: AMP, PRE, Actuator, Bridge, Soundboard.

Amplifiers

2 x 15W Class A Amplifiers (LM1875T) with DC offset on amplifier one.

Inputs

Two 3.5 mm mono audio inputs accepting Eurorack-level audio signals at 10V pp, one 3.5 mm CV input to control DC Offset 10V pp, (-5V to 5V range). Note: line-level inputs must amplified.

Outputs

One 3.5 mm unbalanced mono audio output. Four 3.5 mm CV outputs from the Soundboard FSRs (0 to +5V).

"002R provides 8 discrete voices of polyphony with full multi-timbrality if desired. Two oscillators per voice with two sub oscillators, which can be switched from being either traditional square wave to having the same waveform as the main oscillator – in effect making four oscillators per voice. Analogue / digital hybrid architecture uses NCOs for very high resolution, and very stable oscillators. Over 50 different waveforms, ranging from classic analogue sounds to more unique digital shapes. Modal Electronics designed 24dB per octave four pole transistor ladder filter, with some very unusual morphing characteristics or ‘polesweeping’, enabling transition from four pole through bandpass to one pole 6db per octave, or anywhere in between"

Relight - A Synth Jam with the Blofeld and the Specular Tempus

video by Lanthan O'Ide

"A retrofuturistic synth jam, performed in an age when a stainless steel rocket has just been chosen to go to the moon. Exciting times. :)
================================
For those playing along at home:
The tempo is at 60 BPM, and the key is E major.
================================
About the title:

This one is space-flight related, and oddly specific. :)
In general, successfully relighting a spacecraft's engines is a cause for cheering at mission control. Because a) restarting a rocket motor is more tricky than restarting a car's engine, and b) if the engines fail to relight, things will go bad and / or explodey fast.

But, for me, the term "relight" is inseperable from the Everyday Astronaut's callout during Starship SN8's test flight.
I had stayed up late that night (CET) to watch together with hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world as SpaceX attempted a high-altitude test flight with a Starship prototype for the very first time. Watching the rocket master almost every single one of it's spectacular maneuvres at the first try was absolutely pure joy.
After the vessel came skydiving from 10 km up while moving itself precisely over the landing pad, having the engines relight to actually transition to the landing burn was just the cherry on top.
(And then the landing ALMOST went explosion-free. But hey, still an incredible success overall)"

Michał Szturomski - Luigi Live Act on Polyend Tracker & Electric Guitar

video by Polyend

"This recorded exclusively for Polyend Blog live act is based on various types of sounds processed by the Tracker. These were previously recorded directly to the unit. All of the samples, including the drums on which the song is based, were recorded on electric guitars (pads and melodic parts) and acoustic (rhythmic elements). The solo guitar I used for the backing track was recorded on a second channel of the mixer. All the fx processes, as well as the track mix, were done inside the Tracker. The external computer only served as a sound recorder.

Big hike though, not for the faint of heart. Worth every step! I did manage to find a small 2 gram ordinary chondrite meteorite. -And that makes all of the trip worth it even more!
