Buchla Music Easel Jam - Low-Gain Electronics | repair / modification

video upload by LowGainElectronics

"Had a late BEMI issue Easel come in for a modification. These are known to have modulation oscillator bleed into the reverb driver. Pretty quick and simple modification takes care of that issue. These are such fun instruments to play."

Sequential TAKE-5 ► dark pads, gritty bass & industrial sequences (all playing, no talking).

"Thoughts: http://sounds-for-synths.com/sequenti... || All sounds come from my one preset pack with 200 unique & various patches.

No talking demo of Sequential TAKE-5. I did not use any external FX in the demo; all the delays, reverbs, noises and other effects are part of the TAKE-5 engine & mod matrix. However, I used some slight EQ-ing on some of the sounds (no boosting, just limiting)."

Bass Station II Battle // Novation Live

video upload by NovationTV

"Watch Novation’s Product Specialist team from around the world, battle it out by creating patches and using them for four different live jams using Bass Station II.

To celebrate Bass Station's 30th year, and 10 years of Bass Station II, we're bringing our team together to show you how Bass Station II is much more than bass!

After 10 years the Novation Bass Station II is still the ultimate monosynth for warm, fat, and dirty analogue sounds. Based on the original classic 90’s Bass Station it is enhanced in every area to make it bigger, more versatile, and more powerful in every way. With two filter types, two tuneable paraphonic oscillators and a sub-oscillator (that can also be treated as an independent 3rd oscillator) plus; noise, ring mod and the unique and powerful AFX mode designed in collaboration with Aphex Twin mean the sonic possibilities of this analogue powerhouse are unlimited.

You won't want to miss this - tune in on May 31st to watch.

Smell the EHX Glove

video upload by Richard DeHove

"If you don't know the movie 'This is Spinal Tap' this video isn't going to make much sense, so here's a quick explainer. Spinal Tap is a 1984 fictional documentary about the rock band Spinal Tap. Among their many problems is the cover of their new album 'Smell the Glove'. The band wanted a greased woman on all fours smelling a glove - shops and the record company say no.
So the video intro is a few seconds from the movie and images are my AI-generated prompts attempting to create a 'Smell the Glove" album cover.
As for the audio: The DB-01 is going into the Oceans-11 reverb (which is usually off) then in The Glove, then to the Nemesis delay. There's a tiny bit of EQ in the DAW.
Drums are from the Perkons going into the Death By Audio Rooms reverb. That then gets another layer from the Fabfilter Saturn plugin in the DAW. So hardly a clean or produced drum sound but meh, this was meant to be a simple demo of the Glove pedal, but that got 'out of hand' hahahahahaha.

OMBIENT: Live!@EMEAPP (4/22/23)

video upload by EMEAPP

"This was a fun night. On April 22, 2023 we held our first video shoot in our live studio space with an audience in attendance with Ombient and Electric Diamond on the bill.

Ombient (Mike Hunter) was the opening performer on the bill and in the space of 30 minutes, he took the entire room on an electronic sonic journey complete with custom projections by PYXL8R. Armed with his custom Synthesizers.com modular system, Koma Elektronik Komplex Sequencer, Rhodes Chroma, Oberheim Matrix-6, ARP 2600 re-issue and a slew of effects, Ombient's performance was ultimately a swirling, constantly evolving set reminiscent of artists such as Tangerine Dream and Ashra.

A big thank you to Ombient (Mike Hunter), PXYL8R (Ken Palmer) Electric Diamon (Stuart Diamond, Don Slepian and Karen Bentley Pollick) and to all of our volunteers for helping to make this night a well-oiled and enjoyable experience for all.

You can find us at www.emeapp.org where we invite you to join us as a member."

"The flame mäander provides an analog 12 channel band pass filter bank, which are controllable by an internal pattern sequencer.

sound sources can be the internal polyphonic wavetable oscillator, the analog white noise channel and an external audio input source.

there are one polyphonic note track (up to 4 voice chords) and 14 mono tracks for the audio input, the white noise source and for each filter channel.

each channel include a vca with individual envelope control. all tracks are accessible via midi notes.

create your own patterns, save them in the internal pattern sequencer as a patch and play them on the fly.

with the internal arpeggiator and the keyboard scaler function you can jam very well live.

software updates, loading of wavetables and saving/loading of patches can be easily realized via midi sysex dump."

WELSON SYNTEX

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"It doesn’t beg for your attention - it demands it.
Welson Syntex is a great Italian monophonic synth - it’s kind of our favorite Italian monophonic machine.
It’s got dual oscillators with 4 footages each, a Moog ladder filter and white and pink noise - it can really sound huge. You’d think it has a third oscillator since it says oscillator 3 on the panel but it’s actually the LFO section.
This thing growls and howls - it distorts internally - but can also generate gentle and sweet flute and whistle sounds - summing it up its a versatile synthesizer.
On drums we got a German "Ostie" - East German - machine - the Vermona ER-9.
It's thin but harsh sounding - very electronic - and quite a looker as well.
Just the way we prefer them - it's got separate volume controls for each sound."

A Magic Pulsewave's STAR SONG - Programmable Optical Disc Based Sequencer

video upload by A Magic Pulsewave

http://www.melodyoracle.com

Press release follows:

Taking its cosmic inspiration from star charts and ancient astrolabes, STAR SONG is a rotating optical disc-programmed sequencer with a built-in minimalist synthesizer.

STAR SONG can be used either to play its own built-in pulsewave synthesizer, or in combination with the A.M.P. electronics WAVE EXPANDER (sold separately) to drive external analog and modular synthesizers.

HOW IT IS USED
To create sequences on STAR SONG, the seven translucent rings (orbits) of the optical disc are marked with a marker (included) or opaque tape. The disc is removable and additional discs are sold separately, allowing for indefinite storage of your favorite sequences.

The outer six rings control the tuned note selection and note-on/off sequencing. The innermost ring controls the cut-off frequency for the built-in bandpass filter.

Disc on/off and disc direction are toggled from touch contacts on the front panel, and disc speed is controlled from the central rotary control.

Additionally, there are 1/8" inputs to control rotation speed and rotation direction with an external source.

The addition of WAVE EXPANDER makes the STAR SONG into an incredibly versatile GATE (6 channels) and CV (1 channel) sequencer, as well as providing the STAR SONG’s tuned audio oscillator over five separate octave divisions (four audio and one sub-audio), 12 outputs in all to integrate into your modular system.

Multiple STAR SONG units can be synced by using an external clock signal, and you can even slave STAR SONG to your existing MELODY ORACLE/WAVE EXPANDER combo.

SING THE CYCLES OF THE SPHERES, with STAR SONG, a “revolutionary” new sequencer.

TECH SPECS:
Disc Rotation: 0~15RPM
Panel Controls: Disc rotation on/off, disc rotation rate, disc rotation reverse.
Synthesizer: Quasi-monophonic pulsewave, 8 tuned notes, each with three octaves used in any combination. Sequenced via optical disc.
Tone Filter: Bandpass, optically-controlled.
Audio Output: ¼” LINE (5V p-p)
AMP LINK Output: CAT 5 or 6 w/SHIELDED connector (compatible with WAVE EXPANDER and future AMP accessories only).
Motor Clock Input: ⅛” 0-12V. ON @>7.5V
Disc Direction Input: ⅛” 0-12V. CW @>7.5V
DC input: 15VDC, 2.1mm, tip positive (US adapter included)

"The Black Corporation Deckard's Dream mk1 in excellent condition with one-of-a-kind custom wooden case.

DIYed by very experienced builder. I'm the first owner and it has worked perfectly 5 years. I used the synth extensively with MPE via a linnstrumwnt and it was a joy to play. I built it a fittingly handsome wood case out of cedar, walnut, and oak. The case fits the DDRM very well and the synth is securely mounted in the case with rack ears. One of the weaknesses of this synth design was that the voice cards could come loose. In this particular synth the voice cards are held in place with 3d printed cardholders.

Comes with: synth, case, power cable, long driver to install/remove synth from case, and the components needed to DIY the stereo mod to the synth."

Akai Introduces AIR: Jura The Synth Of 82

video upload by AkaiProVideo

"Jura is the classic synth for a modern music production studio.
The sound of yesterday, the features of tomorrow.

In 1982 something magical happened in the world of synths, a Japanese legend was born.

It was one of the synths that defined the sound of the 1980s and was used on countless hits by artists such as The Eurythmics, Cyndi Lauper, and Aha. Now it’s loved more than ever and used on tracks by acts like Charlie Puth, Tame Impala, and the Weeknd.

Now we bring you something very special, the authentic sound of that 80s synth

But that’s just the start; we wanted to build on the legend and make it fit for modern music production workflows. So for those with qualified AKAI MPC/FORCE standalone versions, you get complete touch control of every parameter. You can really get your hands on this vintage classic and craft your future hits.

Of course you get all the analogue goodness of the original, our team are audio wizards and they have meticulously crafted the sound. It has the single DCO, a monster sub oscillator, the unparralleled VCF, and if you want it, lashings of THAT chorus!

In short, Jura gives you the best of both worlds - the classic sound of an ‘80s synth monster, coupled with some very cool modern workflow enhancements. Jura comes in several versions; a plugin for AU, VST, and AAX DAWs, and there’s the MPC/FORCE Standalone versions for the complete hardware experience of touch control. Jura is the classic synth for a modern music production studio. The sound of yesterday, the features of tomorrow. The synth of ‘82... reimagined for your future hits

Cherry Audio Polymode - Circuit '76 Sound Bank

video upload by Polydata

"Based on the classic and one-of-a-kind Moog Polymoog synthesizer, the Cherry Audio Polymode plug-in captures all the magic of this unique 70's staple.

A bank of 30 patches for instant inspiration and vibe. It has all the thick tonal character of the original with some very thoughtful workflow enhancements. What I love about this instrument is that it gets you to think in a different way and come up with different ideas. It doesn't respond to your playing like a typical poly synth would, and programming it requires different approaches, so you end up thinking outside the box and building fresh ideas.

Tasty Chips GR-1 - Granular Clair de Lune (Ambient Music)

video upload by NGC0 Music

"I was wrong, there was no problem with the GR-1, I was just using it wrong, now I can finally sample and playback in granular mode with the same volume (the GR-1 was turning the patch volume way down by default for some reason), and the crackling noises were due to the grains going through the end of the track (which was ending with a pop due to the way I ended the recording). I've sampled 20 seconds of Clair de Lune and got lost for nearly 20 minutes with it, listen by yourself, it gets better and better over time."

Doepfer POCKET DIAL SN 220929

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"POCKET DIAL is a MIDI control box with 16 endless rotary encoders. This enables a jump-less change of parameters - provided that the device or software controlled by POCKET DIAL features data feedback of the new starting data after a preset change as POCKET DIAL needs the starting values of theparameters of the new preset. Another possibility is the increment/decrement control of the parameters in question. In this case the POCKET DIAL does not "know" the absolute values of the parameters but transmits only inc/dec data to the device/software.

FEATURES:

• 16 high quality endless rotary encoders (alpha dials), manufacturer: ALPS

• solid silver-grey metallic housing made of 1 mm steel

• measures about 25 x 9.5 x 4.5 cm (9-3/4 x 3-3/4 x 3-3/4 inch)

• black knobs, about 18 mm diameter, having a good grip

• distance between the knobs about 30 mm (from center to center)

• 4 banks that can be selected very fast via 4 buttons and blue LEDs (thus 64 "virtual" controllers are available)

• 32 presets (with 4 banks each, i.e. 128 presets altogether), selected via DIP switch at the rear panel

• program change button (as long as this buttons is pressed the encoder below no 8 transmits program change messages for fast preset changes of the unit controlled by POCKET DIAL)

• 24 detents/pulses per rotation, i.e. the data change is +/-24 per turn (if the encoder is turned slow, see acceleration)

• acceleration function, i.e. the data change increases if the encoders are turned faster

• the editor program (PC version) enables the user to program his own 128 presets. This means that you can define the function of each of the 16 controllers in your own 128 presets. You no longer depend on the factory presets! The program can be downloaded free of charge from Doepfer’s internet site.

• Uses easily available 9VDC power supply - 100 ma (NOT INCLUDED)"

Happy Knobbing Modular Synthesizer Meeting Fischbach 2023

video upload by Wein Glas

"This is a short tour showing the modular systems that were arranged on the Happy Knobbing 2023 in Fischbach!

The HK2023 was not only "Gearporn" or "Synthporn". It was more like "Love, Peace and Happiness" far away from a bigger city!

But much more imprtant: It was about meeting friends, talking, drinking, eating, making noises, music, techno, ...

And it became more international. So we are not just a German (and Swiss) Synth Meet anymore.

The soundtrack was made with a small 4U system you can see at the end of the video by Soundfreak (the triple EMS oscillator), Synthomas (281 and 292 quad resonant lowpass gate), Eardrill pendulum Ratchet and Kilpatrick K4816.

Thanks to Tommy and all others!"

LoFi Future HDMI Glitch FX Processor - Circuit Bent HD Scaler

video upload by LoFiFuture

"Available to order here: https://lofifuturestore.square.site/p...

Its a loooong demo for this one, there are a lot of possibilities with this machine and i wanted to make sure I captured my favourite effects. Skip through the video to check out what it can do! I used a collection of stock footage for the demo running from a small media player, all in 1080p 30fps.

Based on a high quality HDMI scaler originally designed and marketed to extend the compatibility of older HD TVs installed in places like office and commercial settings. When paired with its IR remote (included optionally as they can be difficult to obtain) they can be used to scale and convert an incoming HDMI signal to different resolutions and framerates.

By default they output a 1080P 30fps signal regardless of what you input, The remote isn't a necessity at all for using this as a HDMI glitch processor but is useful if you with to change the output settings.

The unit also features a VGA input (inputs are auto detecting) so it is capable of converting and scaling an analog VGA signal too. Very useful if you want to use it with some LoFi Future VGA glitch adapters before it in the chain.

The controls have been mounted in a separate extension that is securely mounted to the case via 4 screws. This was to prevent any obstruction of the ventilation that would negatively effect the thermal performance of the unit (HD video processing gear gets warm)

12 knobs give you access to 24 different bend points. When a knob is set to 12 o'clock the effect is off, pan it either clockwise or counter clockwise to engage an effect.

When all FX are set to off it passes a completely unaffected, pixel perfect image.

Mixing them together will result in complex glitches with endless sweet spots to explore.

The 12 knobs are split into two busses of 6, the two busses can be linked via the toggle switch on the side so they all connect to the same buss or operate on 2 separate busses. This unlocks a ton more possible effect combinations!

Simple and modern setup, just HDMI in and HDMI out, easy!"

Vintage ARP Odyssey Mk III 2823 Pro Serviced w/ New Sliders

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This vintage ARP Odyssey has just been fully serviced in May 2023 by Synthchaser, the top ARP specialist - recapped, new key bushings, all new LED sliders, fully functional, tuned and calibrated, and sounding awesome! The Odyssey was ARP's answer to the Minimoog, a feature packed scaled down version of the legendary ARP 2600. This late model ARP Odyssey is equipped with the 4075 filter, a tasty 4 pole LPF found in all late model ARP synths.

The synth is in great condition. The only flaw worth mentioning is some staining on the left leather side panel (see photos). This synth comes with Orange illuminated LED sliders to complement the Orange & Black color scheme of this late model ARP. I can disable the illumination for the buyer before shipping, upon request at the time of purchase, and with the slider caps I've installed it will look very much like original.

Work just completed on the synth included:

- Synthchaser Precision LED slider upgrade - All 34 of the old original sliders have been replaced with new, smooth, high precision LED illuminated sliders. The difference in the way these sliders feel and perform compared to the originals is a huge improvement. LEDs run off their own power supply mounted inside the synth.

- Illuminated slider caps - Slider caps with a translucent plastic stripe that allows the LED illumination to shine through, while giving you something substantial to grip onto. They look and feel awesome!

- Power supply rebuilt - All tantalum and electrolytic capacitors in the power supply have been replaced, and high quality, high temperature 105 deg C capacitors have been used for the power supply filter capacitors.

- All tantalum capacitors replaced - The tantalum capacitors in ARP synths are ticking time bombs. All tantalum capacitors in this synth have been replaced with electrolytics to help provide stable operation for years to come.

- 4075 Filter Enhancement - This ARP Odyssey uses 4075 filter submodule found in all late model ARP synthesizers like the Quadra and the Omni. This filter was designed with a calculation error that limited the cutoff frequency. The 4075 filter submodule has been recapped, corrected to provide superior frequency response, and tested for proper operation in the Synthchaser custom test fixture

- Keyboard rebuild - New key bushings installed, keys removed and ultrasonically cleaned, bus bars removed and polished, key contacts cleaned and adjusted.

- Oscilloscope calibration - Calibrated & tuned using oscilloscope and frequency counter."

Working Computone Lyricon MIDI Driver, Control Voltage EWI

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is a working vintage Computone Lyricon Wind Driver with a built-in JL Cooper MIDI Wind Driver and a separate Eurorack Lyricon Interface module. The wind transducer was replaced by the incredible David O’Brien in 2019, and he also designed and created the Lyricon Eurorack module. This Driver is in excellent condition. I have been using Lyricons since 1981 and this is my backup Driver which has not been played often.

The Lyricon Wind Driver was the second model produced by Computone in the late ’70s/early ‘80s and is the only Lyricon that exclusively outputs control voltages (CV) to operate analog synthesizers, or even MIDI synthesizers if the CV is converted to MIDI using the rare JL Cooper MIDI Wind Driver or the Kenton Pro CV to MIDI Converter. It is incredibly flexible for controlling modular synthesizers and CV synthesizers and effects and the depth and feel of the breath transducer is unmatched by any modern wind controller.

Control Voltage outputs (9) for:

Pitch 1 (~+83 mVDC to ~+3.5 VDC)
Wind 1 (~+0.5 mVDC to ~+3.5 VDC)
Lip 1 (~0 VDC open reed to ~+10 VDC closed reed)
Pitch 2 (adjustable with Tuning and Scale sliders)
Wind 2 (adjustable with Wind 2 slider and threshold knob)
Bend Down (no bend to ~one octave down, 0 to 10 on slider)
Bend Up (no bend to ~one octave up, 0 to 10 on slider)
Windgate 1 (with slider)
Windgate 2 (with slider)
Footswitch/Remote for Octave Selection
Accessory Patch Output contains most of the above CV outputs
Additionally, the installed JL Cooper Wind Driver supplies a MIDI output on the case side next to the AC cord input, 1/4-inch input jacks for the MIDI CHORD and HOLD functions, and a series of trim pots on the back of the case.
Includes the Lyricon Wind Driver with built-in JL Cooper MIDI Wind Driver electronics, Lyricon Eurorack interface module, a printout of the Lyricon Driver manual, a printout of the JL Cooper Wind Driver manual, and AC cord.

Unit size, weight: 27” x 12” x 6”, 13.5 lbs. (68.6 cm x 30.48 cm x 13.3 cm, 6.123497 kg)"

OP-1 Field as an ambient machine! 💭

video upload by Andrea Marzilli

"This is a simple recipe for soundscaping with a great little machine! ✨

- Turn on an OP-1 Field
- Record 3 different synth tape tracks, then lower the pitch by an octave
- Add a long Mother reverb
- Open Ableton Live
- Add a Soundtoys Crystallizer - going into a Valhalla Supermassive
- Play random notes on the last 4 tape tracks of the OP-1 Field

Enjoy.
But with headphones, please! 🎧"

Tasty Chips GR-1 - Granular Jam (With Osmose and Matriarch)

video upload by NGC0 Music

"This is a weird video, I've live-sampled a Rhodes piano loop into the GR-1 (The quality is terrible when it's live-sampled, probably my biggest problem with the GR-1...), later in the video (skip if you get bored) I've added the Moog, improvised shortly on the Rhodes, and also on the Osmose. It starts boring but gets nicer."

Elektron Octatrack & Arturia Microbrute Jam

video upload by Easy Tiger

"I am jamming with the Octatrack and the Microbute. I think they make an excellent pair. The Microbrute is very simple but has nice analogue sound with lots of character. The OT on the other hand can get pretty complex, has loads of FX and the cool LFO's. So they complement each other in a very good way.

The Microbrute was the sound source for everything you hear in this one."

How to make dub techno chords with the Blukač Endless Processor

video upload by Tom Churchill

"I bought the Blukač Instruments Endless Processor this week, and after spending a couple of hours playing around with it I came up with this deep, dubby techno patch, which I’ve broken down in this video.

The basic idea is to create an infinite chord by capturing and layering some simple individual notes from a VCO - in this case the New Systems Instruments Harmonic Shift Oscillator - then sculpting the sound further and adding rhythmic movement by modulating an LPG.

Channel 1, the higher-pitched chord, runs through the Serge Resonant EQ and then Make Noise Optomix, which I’m ‘striking’ with a trigger from the Beatstep Pro. Channel 2, the lower-pitched chord, runs through the Serge VCFQ and into the other channel of Optimix, controlled by an envelope from Joranalogue Contour 1. Both channels get a bit of tape delay from the Zoom MS70CDR pedal. The only other ingredients are some 808 drum sounds and a sine sub-bass, plus a splash of reverb in Ableton.

Please note: this isn’t a sponsored video - I bought the EP myself and have no connection or affiliation with Blukač Instruments; I’m just a fan :)"

Blukač Instruments - Endless Processor - Sound Examples

video uploads by Blukač Instruments

via Blukač Instruments

ENDLESS PROCESSOR is a dual-channel infinite sound sustainer machine. Put your favorite instruments, unique timbres, or field recordings — virtually any sound — and make it last forever.

It is not a looper in the usual sense - Endless Processor resynthesizes your sounds to create a perfect clickless stream while preserving the timbral and tonal character of the original.

Endless Processor always listens to audio input and keeps a most recent history.

Experiment with sustaining little bits of a sample or make a massive wall of sound with the ability to select how much memorized audio to process.

Stack your sounds to create harmonies, textures, or drones with 5 layers per channel. Each layer can be re-processed or cleared while keeping other ones in place. Set fade-in and fade-out time to quickly or gradually introduce a new layer or remove the existing one. Additional controls will help you to adjust or shape a channel volume (think built-in VCA).
