Mixing it up w/ Zeptocore, AudCalc & Dirtywave M8
video upload by Arman Bohn
"Chill generative beats...
Using the M8 to randomly sound off drone-ish sine waves with some of the new 'shimmer' reverb in the latest firmware.
Zeptocore is synced to M8 via MIDI clock and providing some chopped samples I fed it.
AudCal is running three different sounds that I'm triggering by hand. I created a pattern of notes on each of the sound/channels to help me differentiate which one was selected."

This Peak Patch is ALL Random
video upload by Saß
"Welcome to Crazy Random Patch Episode 2!
Ever feel stuck with an idea? Just twist all the knobs and press all the buttons!
In this episode, I made a patch on my Novation Peak, aptly titled "Robo Factory," reminiscent of what you might hear in a robotic car factory from a cyberpunk future, or maybe some weird magical mechanical beast from some dark fantasy dungeon (like the kind from RPGs where its fantasy but they have guns lol). Then, I made a very small beat featuring it to show that it can be used musically! I really hope you enjoy this kind of content, so please let me know if you do or don't! See you in the next video!

Here's Soundgas description of the Stromer Bongos:
'A handbuilt analogue recreation of the fabled electronic percussion circuit as used by Madlib and on the legendary recording of Ann Peebles 'I Can't Stand the Rain'.'
These are handbuilt in small batches so expect some inconsistencies with the finish - sonically they're very close to the originals (though all originals vary in tone/timbre now due to component ageing/drift."
Each drum tone has a trim pot inside that's been adjusted so that the oscillator is just below the point of self-oscillation. When triggered, the circuit oscillates at its resonant frequency and rings out like a drum. Pushing in the 'mute' button shortens the decay.
To play these you need something that sends trigger pulses, like a beat- or key-step pro, or a drum machine with trigger outputs. Works with your standard center negative 9 volt adapter (not included)."

1. MPE on Supercritical Synthesizer Redshift 6 - Bristonica 25
Now capable of MPE!2. Verbos Electronics Multistage 16- Bristronica 25
The latest Redshift update introduces MPE functionality.
This feature, which addresses frequent customer requests, enables compatibility with MPE-capable controllers, such as the LinnStrument.
New evolution of the Voltage Multistage, one of the first Verbos Modules.3. Ohm Force Bohm - Bristronica 25
The original Voltage Multistage has an analog sequencer core with several unique features that allow it to function as a sequencer with switchable slides on each step, multistage envelope of any length with sustain on any stage, any shape of LFO, voltage quantizer, and more.
The Voltage Multistage 16 is no longer based on a CMOS counter core, but is built around discrete transistor stages, which enables gate inputs on each stage. This allows external gates to jump it to any stage, multiple loops and sequences that start at one stage and then enter into a loop later.
Explore uncharted kick territory. Choose from nine unique models (and counting) and let the randomizer surprise your creativity. Precision sound-shaping knobs with wide sweet spots make flawless tweaks effortless.4. TouellSkouarn - Bristronica 25
Gael is revealing the modules that are currently housed in his suitcase. Including the Strakal Brulu and the one and only Germanium Mixer. If you check the prices of old Germanium mixers, such as the Siemens, you will see that this one is a real bargain. As always, there is a lovely sound at his booth; no sine is allowed to pass through this Eurorack system.5. Crosspatch Triggerpad Updates - Launchpad Sequencer - Bristronica 25
TouellSkouarn: Squaring your sines since 2010
Mitja tells us the latest news about his module at this year's Machina Bristonica. The Triggerpad module converts your Launchpad into a standalone Eurorack. This allows you to repurpose an older Launchpad that might be gathering dust for your Eurorack system. The workflow is super simple and hands-on. You have features such as polymeter per track, swing and micro steps at your fingertips. The new features are BPM modulation and triplets.6. UDO Audio DMNO 8-voice 2-part multitimbral - Bristonica 25
We have just had the opportunity to take a first look at the new, innovative synth from UDO Audio: the DMNO.7. Teaching Machines FuzzBillon: Numerical Tone Switching – Bristronica 25
Here's a short interview and sound demo from George!
Features:
8 voice polyphonic, with 4 ‘super’ voices when in Binaural mode. Binaural mode gives each channel (ear) a full synthesizer voice with independent detuning and modulation, creating an expansive, rich and texturally wide sound 2-Part Multitimbral, comprising 2 independent hybrid synthesizers, each with its own dedicated set of front-panel controls
8 selectable ‘Play Modes’ that immediately reconfigure DMNO’s signal flow, redefining how its two independent synth engines interact with one another
Instead of using potentiometers for the device's settings, Teaching Machines uses numerical switches. This offers the advantage of total recall. The effects range from subtle overdrive to screaming distortion and are based on a completely analogue circuit with amplification devices from Germanium to Silicon and light-emitting diodes. I got to spend some quality time with the Hexdrums - it sounds really beefy and each voice has a tonne of sweet spots. The Hexdrums has loads of saturation available, is built to a high standard and feels very performative. This is the first of four videos.5. The formidable Perkons HD-01 was available at Machina Bristronica - how could I resist? For my money the Perkons is the most 'jammable' and gratifying drum machine on the market, hands-down. The person using it before filming this session was dancing and really enjoying their time with it. Was a joy to witness!6. MODOR DR-2 // MACHINA BRISTRONICA '25 // LØSTLVLS

Progress on the Teensy TDM synth
video upload by Craig Barnes
"Latest update of the Teensy 4.1 based audio library synth. I've ditched the hardware envelopes because they lacked real-time control and only changed on a fresh key press, so now the Electric Druid Envgen8c chips are back in their sockets on envelope duty. I've opted for log envelopes although I think the AS2164 has a lin/log converter, I need to check."
PlantsSystem-MobileHome+
video upload by plantssystem
"Still Life In Mobile Homes (PlantsSystem ReEdit)
Originally 'Still Life In Mobile Homes' by UK band JAPAN, PlantsSystem has re-edited this delicate, introspective track with a unique interpretation, giving it a new texture.
This album was produced and mastered entirely using the tracker-type DAW 'Renoise' resulting in a sound born from a thoroughly minimalist environment.
The album is imbued with deep respect for Steve Nye, the engineer behind JAPAN classic album 'Tin Drum' and his influence is evident in the meticulous sonic balance and atmospheric feel.
While retaining the tension and space of the original, the album is reinterpreted with the crisp clarity and spaciousness that only digital can provide. This classic song takes on a new face.

Mother Global Settings Editor for the Moog Grandmother and Matriarch by DIRE Studio
via DIRE Studio
"The proper Grandmother and Matriarch editor has landed.
Mother Global Settings is an intuitive editor for Moog's Grandmother and Matriarch synthesizers. Sporting a 500-series rack inspired control-per-function interface, it's a huge improvement over the quirky global settings editing method of these instruments.
For Mac and iPad.
Supports the creative flow.
Each setting is accessible with two clicks/taps at maximum, allowing you to concentrate on creating your music. Actual values are instantly visible on the screen, which may also prevent a disaster by letting you see output voltage levels. And we have added octave buttons to easily set and check keyboard transposition, as well as a sequence selector override for the Matriarch, letting you quickly switch to any sequence — not just adjacent ones.
Expanded control panel.
Separate items for oscillator frequency ranges on the Matriarch. Fine grained control over MIDI output and local control. Extra glide toggle and arp/seq gate length settings managed by the app. And a panic button in case the synth goes rebel.
Presets.
Save all global settings, as well as our extra settings, into files that you can archive with other project material or share with others. Quickly recall them when needed. And of course you can reset all settings to factory defaults.
Keyboard control.
Keyboard shortcuts for settings affecting synthesizer parameters that you may wish to change during live performance or recording: Gate Length, Swing, FW/BW End Note Repeat, Allow Seq Random Repeat, Delay Seq Change, Pitch Variance, Gated Glide, Legato Glide, Paraphonic Unison, Update Unison on Note-Off, Noise Filter Cutoff, Delay Filter Brightness and Multi Trig.
Equally at home on stage and in the studio.
Direct USB connection for the fastest operation and complete auto-detection — perfect for live performance. 5-pin MIDI support for connecting via MIDI interfaces — and even through MIDI routers — allows you to integrate the app into complex studio setups."
The Analog Eclipse | KORG minilogue xd | Dark to Rock One-Synth-Jam
video upload by Lo-fi Pask
"Even though I’ve got dozens of unfinished projects on my trusty Teenage Engineering OP-XY (some of them almost ready) I felt the need to break the cycle. I had the sense I was starting to repeat myself. So I turned to one of my favorite analog synths, the KORG minilogue xd, looking for a patch that could spark something new. And from that came this track… though I’m still not sure what exactly it is.
As usual, the atmosphere is dark, but halfway through it unexpectedly takes on a rock-inspired twist before returning to its original mood. I even tried reworking the idea on the OP-XY to make it more polished (and complex), but in the end I decided to record it raw—exactly as it came to me.
Hope you enjoy it. I plan to explore this same process on other synths as well. Let me know in the comments if this journey through analog synth sound design intrigues you.

Nonlinear Labs C15 - the new Sound Designer Bank by Mark Wilcox - PART ONE
video upload by Nonlinear Labs
PART TWO here
"In this video, Tim Sund introduces a selection of new presets by Californian sound designer Mark Wilcox. In these presets, Mark frequently utilizes the bi-timbrality of the C15 to create sounds from two completely different components, between whose characteristics one can then morph back and forth using modulations (expression pedals and ribbons).
In all examples the ribbons display the movement of the two expression pedals.
The sound was recorded directly with the C15's internal recorder and was not processed in any way.
Mark´s bank as well as the banks of the other sound designers, who have created sounds for the C15, can be downloaded here: https://www.nonlinear-labs.de/support...

Kastle 2 WAVE BARD Experimental jam #1 (with KORG monotron delay)
video upload by alloutofsync
"This is an experimental "harsh yet rhythmic" jam I started on a whim. I connected the Monotron Delay to the Wavebard’s in/out and used it like an external effect. The output is mono, but in post-processing I applied the following effect chain to create a stereo image.
Effect Chain Overview:
The signal first passes through Redux, which reduces the sample rate and bit depth slightly to add a subtle crushed texture.
Next, the sound is routed into an Audio Effect Rack where one chain applies Reverb and another keeps the signal direct. This creates a balance between the processed and dry sound.
The Reverb is set with a short predelay and moderate decay, shaping the reflections with input filters and adding some stereo width. A small amount of chorus is also applied within the reverb to make the stereo image wider and more spacious.
Finally, two instances of Utility are used. The first adjusts gain and ensures the stereo width is maintained while controlling the low end with mono-bass settings. The second provides additional level control and ensures that the bass frequencies remain centered in mono.

Erebus Grimm - DAWless Jam (TEO 5, Deluge, Taiga, DFAM, Mother 32, B Drum, Sub H, NYX)
video upload by Oakland Ghosts
"I wanted to create a dark sort of melancholy. A fall season sound.
This one started with a patch I built on the TEO 5, and very strange patch on the Taiga. I stole one of the oscillators from the taiga to build a dual oscillator patch on the Mother 32 and then got weird with percussion on the DFAM and the Bastle Drum.
Jim came in and nailed some atmospheric guitars - no easy task for a song that was all vibe no chord progression- Ram Das samples to keep it moving forward, and a @johnnybakecake mix to lock in the melancholy vibe and bring it all together.

GS Music e7 - Septenary Vol.1 (Demo 2 of 2) OUT NOW!
video upload by Scott McAuley Sounds
"Patches will be available at https://www.orano.co.uk/shop or http://www.synthsounds.co.uk
Reverb used on this demo is same settings Specular Tempus 70s plate.
This wasn't a planned custom pack, I originally ordered the @GSMusicArg e7 just to try it out. However, it is quite safe to say that this synth really has blown me away!!
The synth has so much character, it honestly sounds like "the good old days"! Very Memorymoog, but with some hints of OB Sizzle , it's Lovely!
Needless to say, the e7 is now firmly remaining in my collection, it has warmth, depth, low end, fizz, and just sings! I absolutely love it.
I thoroughly enjoyed programming this lovely synth, and I look forward to getting back on with Volume 2 in the future!
I hope you enjoy!
Cheers
Scott.

NoisyFruitsLab DCO - Dual Wavetable Oscillator for Eurorack Synthesizer
video upload by NoisyFruitsLab

"DCO stands for 'Detox Controlled Oscillator' and is a dual wavetable sound source for creating big things on a small footprint
Designed for stereo or duophonic fun as giant wavetable for each oscillator, containing 30 waveforms for each.
With an own output for each oscillator and an accurate frequency range from 0.01Hz to around 10KHz it´s an excellent audio source, LFO and reference as well.
CV control for each wavetable (-5V – +5V)
Shared 1V / octave input, covering 10 octaves (-5V – +5V), FM friendly
Bipolar LEDs as negative and positive indicators.
Frequency and wavetable control for each oscillator with smooth endless rotary encoders including buttons.
Covering fine or stepped frequency adjustments for detuning, harmonizing and chordifying.
Blend smoothly through a giant wavetable with 30 different waveforms for each oscillator with the encoders or over CV.
Switch between sync modes, so oscillator 2 get´s independant cv control over waveblending and frequency, or choose the “no CV” mode for highly accurate reference frequencies.
User friendly 11-point calibration mode.
Update friendly and designed as partially open source project and development platform."
Sinevibes Introduces Cluster v3 multi-filter sequencer plugin
video uploads by Sinevibes
Cluster "v3 is a multi-filter sequencer plugin designed and developed by Sinevibes. Available for Mac, Windows and Linux. Product page: https://www.sinevibes.com/cluster/"
Cluster is a multi-filter sequencer. The core concept is simple at first – a filter with a modulation envelope – but every single parameter is sequenced in a rhythmical fashion, even the filter type itself. At the foundation of the sound engine is a set of six filters which can be selected from many models like multi-mode state variable, comb, phaser and resampler; also, each of those filters can be configured with up to 4 stages in series. Based on this setup, Cluster builds up a sequencer matrix with 7 parameter lanes: three for the filters (type, frequency, resonance), and four for its highly flexible envelope generator with over 50 possible modulation shapes. The sequencer matrix holds up to 8 patterns at once and is driven by an elastic step sequencer algorithm with both polymetric and polyrhythmic abilities, and an extremely wide range of timing settings. All of this is presented via a single-screen, color-coded user interface with dozens of utility functions for pattern manipulation – which makes Cluster an extremely easy-to-use and fun tool for creating pretty much any animated filter effects you can dream of… and way beyond.
SOUND ENGINE
Six-track filter sequencer with type and slope selectable per track; independently variable cutoff frequency and resonance per step
9 available filter types: low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, peaking, comb positive and negative, phaser, resampler; up to 4 filter stages with self-calibrating resonance
Multi-envelope generator for filter cutoff modulation with independently variable type, divisions, polarity and modulation level per step
Up to 8 separate sequences per preset
Step sequencer with up to 32 steps, rhythmically correct swing, polymetric and polyrhythmic abilities
Optional RMS limiter per each filter track
Variable per-step pan randomization
Two-pole analog-style lag filter for variable smoothing of all step transitions
One-pole lag filters on all continuous parameters for smooth, click-free adjustment
Supports mono › mono, mono › stereo, and stereo › stereo channel configurations
GRAPHIC INTERFACE
Color-coded graphic elements
Consistent name, mapping, value, and unit implemented for all parameters in both graphic user interface and host control/automation
Sequencer pattern macro editing functions: copy, paste, reset, trim, invert, shift, evolve, randomize, loop region
Built-in preset management functions
Supports window size scaling up to 200%

GAMECHANGER Launches the MOTOR Pedal
You can find demos in previous posts here.
Check with dealers on the right on availability and price.
Press release follows:
"Gamechanger Audio Officially Releases the MOTOR Pedal
Electromechanical sound. A gas pedal for your guitar. The ultimate analog noise-machine.
Riga, Latvia – September 29, 2025
After years of development and anticipation, Gamechanger Audio is proud to announce that the MOTOR Pedal is finally available to the public. First teased as a wild experiment back in 2019 and reintroduced earlier this spring as a pre-order, the MOTOR Pedal is now shipping worldwide—bringing a completely new category in sound and performance machines to guitarists, producers, and sonic explorers everywhere.
At its core, the MOTOR Pedal is built on two groundbreaking technical achievements:
A fully controllable musical motor oscillator that transforms brushless DC motors into living, breathing sound sources.
An proprietary monophonic pitch-tracking engine that follows guitars and virtually any instrument with surgical accuracy.
These breakthroughs were forged over years of experimentation. From 2019 to 2022, Gamechanger Audio developed and released the MOTOR Synth MKI and MKII—the world’s first polyphonic synthesizers to use electric motors as vari-speed oscillators. More recently, the company perfected pitch tracking with its acclaimed AUTO Series pedals, released late 2024 The MOTOR Pedal builds directly on these innovations, fusing them into a compact stompbox—creating a powerful, unpredictable, and endlessly fun performance tool.
And in true Gamechanger style, it’s not just about the sound. The MOTOR Pedal introduces a completely new way to control it: a real acceleration foot pedal. This gas-pedal-style controller turns dynamics, pitch bends, and rhythmic sweeps into something you literally drive, delivering an adrenaline-fueled approach to expression that no other stompbox offers.
“Back in 2019, the original MOTOR Pedal was just a spark that set this whole journey in motion - what if we could play MOTORS as Oscillators!?” says Gamechanger Audio founder Ilya Krumins. “Since then, through the MOTOR Synth MKI and MKII and the AUTO Series, we’ve gone deeper and deeper into the world of electromechanical sound. At this point, we feel like we know pretty much everything there is to know about making music with motors and the MOTOR Pedal is the culmination of that knowledge, and the most fun, immediate and accessible way to experience it.”
Key Features:
● Real electromagnetic motor oscillator driven by precision pitch tracking
● Gas-pedal controller with five modes - for dynamic, physical expression
● Hybrid electromechanical + digital signal path for unique textures - five MOTOR engines - each with unique sound
● Compact form factor built for pedalboards, studios, and live rigs
● Replaceable motor block for extended lifetime and serviceability
● Powered by Gamechanger Audio’s MOTOR Synth (MKI & MKII) and AUTO Series technology
The MOTOR Pedal is now shipping worldwide from www.gamechangeraudio.com and with selected dealers world-wide.
The MOTOR Pedal is priced at 399 USD and 399 EUR (incl. VAT) respectively.

"Serial number 0115 (written in blue Biro pen on the wooden underside of the instrument).
This is one of the first OSCar synthesizers made and it has great provenance. On 26 April 1984, I visited the designer of the instrument, Chris Huggett, at his apartment in Headington, Oxford. He demonstrated the synth and said, “Take it home and, if you like it, send me some money”. So I did … and this is the instrument that is being sold now. I took it back to him a few months later and he fitted the MIDI board.
The instrument has recently been restored by Andrew Jury (Synth Prof). All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, ribbon cables and headers have been replaced, the battery is new, mains switch has been replaced, keyboard busbar and spring contacts cleaned and polished and much, much more. Consequently, the instrument is in full working order."

Seventh Summoner & Arp Of Darkness - Swarm Bending
video upload by FlatSix Modular
"Playing around today with the Seventh Summoner and Arp Of Darkness in the small case. I like where this is headed so I thought I’d share.
https://www.flatsixmodular.com
Patch Notes: Clock is handled by Pam’s Pro Workout.
Voice 1 is sequenced by the Seventh Summoner and consists of the supersaw patch on Braids through the 2051 Bit Corrupter patch on the MFX and then into the delay patch on a Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio with the “MultiVersio” firmware flashed to it.
Voice 2 is a saw wave oscillator from the Disting MK4 processed through a Pittsburgh Modular low pass filter, and being sequenced by Sequence X on an Ornament & Crime module with the Phaserville Suite firmware running. The filter is being modulated by the Shredder applet on the Ornament & Crime.
Voice 3 is being arpeggiated by the Arp Of Darkness, and is made up of a swarm & detune patch on the Neutron Sound Dust of Time running through a ping pong delay on another Disting MK4 by Expert Sleepers. I’m hand modulating the swarm to detune the swarmed notes giving it that dissonant contrast and the release of bring things back to unity.
In-Case Drums are being handled by an Erica Synths Pico Drums module running through A low pass filter on another Disting MK4 and into Data Bender by Qu-Bit for glitching duties.
All outputs run through a Kombucha by WGD for delay send duties and then into a Befaco STMIX for mix down to an Intellijel Headphones output in the 1U row.
Additional drums provided by the K.O. II by Teenage Engineering running my own personal samples."
Unexpected item: Tilde Elektriske Kretser Fjaerlett
video upload by Uncertain Music Corps
Also see: Tilde Elektriske Kretser - Fjærlett
"With my love of spring reverb feedback, the Fjaerlett was a complete no brainer for me and as soon as I heard about it I put my name on the wait list.
That was 4 years ago.
I completely forgot about it until last month when the invoice for instrument number 162 dropped.
It was delivered today.
This is the first run out for it recorded direct to camera. Reverb (offscreen) is provided via an instance of Galactic 3 running on the 4ms Metamodule. There is no eq or compression on the output.
First impressions? This is an elegant, delicate instrument that will take time to learn. The interrelationships between the three springs, the equaliser bands and the feedback level are complex and varied. They are not necessarily repeatable during a session - what looks like the same slider settings will not always provide the same outcomes. At least not at first.
As ever with spring reverb feedback, it's not hard to drive it into standing, sine wave like oscillation. But the more interesting stuff happens on the edges when you can find them. My sense is that there are many edges to be discovered.
I was monitoring this at a fairly low level. High on my to do list is monitor a session at much higher levels to encourage feedback on my feedback.
Let the games begin...."
From the Deep // Moog Matriach - FM Synthesis | HWJ Challenge | #synthjam
video upload by SOUNDS OF SYNTH
"Hi
This upload is inspired by the HWJ Challenge which is to make a track using FM synthesis.
The patch in this track is created on the Moog Matriach and I'm routing OSC 2 to OSC 1 and OSC 4 to OSC 3. I've got some additional modulation happening on the mod-wheel which is subttly affecting OSC 4 and therefore the sound of OSC 3.
For the massive reverb/delay in the middle and the end I'm using a Soma Cosmos.

"A piece created with YAMAHA CS01, @teenageengineering OP-1 field, and @KORG_INC volca fm2. Minimal electronica where lo-fi processed FM synth tones overlap with evolving sequences.
The CS01 is processed through @ChaseBlissAudio LOSSY with reverb and EQ, shaping it into a lo-fi sound. The patch is set with long attack and release times.
On the OP-1 field, sequences are played using the ENDLESS sequencer, with pattern changes made mid-performance. The sound is based on the DIMENSION preset CELESTA, modified for this piece.
The volca fm2 produces synth pad tones with extended attack and release, processed through @ChaseBlissAudio GENERATION LOSS MKII to create a lo-fi texture."

9/28/25 (bird) ElectroComp EML 400/401 + Paia 6740 + DeltaLab Effectron II + MIDIVERB II + CXM 1978
video upload by Cfpp0
"Some stringy flutes. The 16 steps on the right side of the ElectroComp EML 400 are producing V4, which is controlling the envelope decay on the EML 401. I’m resetting that loop throughout the video, to change the accents and envelope. The 16 steps on the left side of the 400 are producing V3, which is controlling the 401 filter (in high pass mode). The 400 sequence is being clocked by ALM Pamela’s New Workout, with a division of 140bpm. The 401 output hits the DeltaLab Effectron II delay hard and overloads the limiter. The delay goes from the Effectron II to the Mackie Onyx 1640, with spring reverb from the Paia 6740, gated stereo reverb from the Alesis MIDIVERB II, and pitchy downsampled stereo reverb blended on the CXM 1978. The bird was racing our ferry and won."

PlantsSystem-HyperGlitchMix

"PlantsSystem latest track, 'HyperGlitchMix' is an experimental piece that breaks down sound into pieces and then reconstructs the fragmented sound particles in a new order. The rhythm breaks down into fragments before recombining, and electronic noise and distorted effects fly around unpredictably. This futuristic and aggressive glitch soundscape gives the impression of a new musical organism being born from the remains of data. The intricate structural beauty that emerges from the chaos is a sound art unique to PlantsSystem.

Golden Gate Park’s Hidden Gem in 4K | Black Sand Beach + Cinematic Electronica
video upload by Saul Stokes
New relaxing music and video from supporting member, Saul Stokes. Links below.
"I've lived in the Bay Area for 20 years and only recently discovered that there's one of only about 20-30 black sand beaches in the world right here in the Bay Area. A little search online says that this is due to ground-up volcanic rock. It's a stunning, yet somewhat challenging location to reach. My wife and I opted to take a little beach picnic while recording. Over the course of about 2 hours, only 2 people made it down to the beach. One of the more amazing stories about this area is that there's a Cold War nuclear launch site just up the road, which you can now tour. If you ever come to San Francisco, make sure to cross the Golden Gate and take a little afternoon hike down to the Black Sand Beach.
As for the music, a few long-time listeners might be a bit disappointed, expecting the entire Radiate album, as shown by the album cover. While compiling the music for these videos, I have discovered that sometimes certain songs don't quite fit the feel I'm going for. For Radiate, I opted to replace a few of the darker songs with some of my favorite tracks from my first demo tape, Burning Igloo, which was released in 1993. The song 'Haight Pacific' was a name I pulled from the MUNI bus I first rode on a trip to the ocean while visiting San Francisco in the 1990s. I still find it fascinating that the city of San Francisco is literally right on the ocean. Radiate was performed in Sausalito when I first moved here in the early 2000s. I don't remember much other than it was by a dock with many beautiful boats. Additionally, a few beautiful studio pieces were added to the CD to fill it up. Radiate was released on Databloem, a CDR label based in the Netherlands. I almost forgot, as a closer, I opted to add a single titled Collision, which was written many years later. If you want to hear the entire Radiate album, jump over to the Bandcamp link below.

Instruõ - ceithir | Project Overview
video upload by
"Welcome to the instruōduction of the ceithir.
This is the largest module I have designed to date. Measuring in at 58HP!
It’s been a design project I’ve been tapping away at in the background since Christmas Eve 2024. (It was my holiday entertainment)
I’ve been keen for a while to do a design project reminiscent of my approach ~10 years ago when I was designing the troika.
That was the original Instruō module and came about entirely because I wanted more oscillators in my rack! I actively Timelapse recorded the troika design process and scored it using that original troika to be an extremely nerdy music video!
I did a similar video document project when I designed the tràigh filter later that year.
I did actually record the harmonàig PCB design as well… but that never made a cut because I ended up getting too busy focussing more on the module development side of things more so than the documenting.
For ceithir I have gone a little bit further… I ran timelapse recording for the majority of the process, but also “vlogged” the process and did my best to record key milestones stages.
Over the coming weeks I am going to be publishing these as focussed mini documentaries that focus in on particular design stages.
Some of these include:
• sketching the interface layout/hardware components and then designing the interface graphics
• hardware layout considerations
• troubleshooting initial prototypes
• first power up and then calibration/testing of the first full hardware iterations
As Instruō has grown over the years I have enjoyed collaborating with this team of designers. Sharing ideas and learning from each other is a big part of how we create. I hope some of this series might serve as some form of reference to anyone interested in module design. I feel like it’s becoming more and more common for bands/artists to produce some behind the scenes content surrounding writing and production of new albums. I’m hoping the format translates to some module design bts content. It is perhaps not a step by step tutorial, but I have tried to capture the process quite comprehensively.
This module is a ridiculous one! I don’t know what the current next step is beyond a handful of them existing for my own personal rack(s).
If there is interest, please let me know and I can see what’s possible. This thing is definitely not suited for large scale production! But I am very excited to see what people do with it.
Thanks for reading.
