Phase of the sun | Prophet 12 FM Phase Modulation Tine

video upload by MIDERA

"A bit dismayed by the lack of 'bite' with the Prophet 12 FM, I tried digging deeper to see what could be done with it. Just adding 'FM' and Linear FM (i.e., phase modulation) is not enough to really brighten a sine way. Here, I then added velocity as a mod source and FM as a destination... 4 times. Apparently, on the Prophet 12, you're able to modulate and modulate things more and more for the effect you want. It seems to work, so I'll take it. All 4 oscillators are active here, although Osc2 is not audible, only acting as a modulator for OSC1. All oscillators are sine waves.

Of course, it's still not quite as expressive as the SY77. The SY77 has a lot of low end yet keeps the high end sparkly. The P12 handles it ok at best.

One person suggested keeping the oscillators under 50%. I kept them around that for this video, but I still notice distortion. I'll take their advice and drop it to under 50%, hopefully that helps.

Eventide Blackhole VST for effect."

DSI Sequential PRO3 SE // Can it REPLACE ALL your MODULAR GEAR?

video upload by Dexba

"This video is my answer to that question, the question that prompted me to buy the PRO3 in the first place.

I had quite a lot of eurorack stuff around, but it was becoming more of an obsession, with all those buy sell trade try learn trade again, in an infinite loop without sign of slowing down and PEACE.

So I decided to sell all my modular gear, in order to fund this (which seems a way better value than the two premium modules I had to sell) and some other gear.

My Sequential / DSI Pro 3 already appeared on my channel before, but in a way that wasn't the one I bought it for.

So, I took my time to try to get in the same mindset I would have had while patching my eurorack system: I started from nothing, a buzzing wave, then I started "patching", modulating the OSC, the filter, the onboard FX (yeah!), assigning some stuff to the control surfaces (touch strip + mod wheel) and I tried my best with the sequencer to obtain the deep, nonsensical, evolving patches I used to make with the modular gear.

I was so happy, I reached my goal, and now I am GAS-free for eurorack stuff.

Yeah, I miss a bit the physical act of patching, but hey, that's way more practical and it comes with presets, so I can save my work to get back to it another time!

Enjoy ✨"

Sequential OB 6 Sounds

video upload by Pure Ambient Drone

"Some sounds from the Sequential OB 6 formally known as DSI or Dave Smith Instruments. This synth really brings back the old days of the 80s for me. I love this synth very much. One of my favorite synths ever simply for the sound alone! OB 6 has such a rich old classic tone to it. Its hard to get a bad sound of this synthesizer."

Zlob Introduces the VC F3DB Fixed Filter Bank Eurorack Module

What is a Fixed Filter Bank? | Chaos + Control with Zlob VC F3DBvideo upload by Sarah Belle Reid

"In this video, we explore the history of fixed filter banks in synthesizers (what they are, how they work), demonstrate some classic fixed filter bank concepts, and then dive into a series of patch examples exploring the Zlob Modular VC F3DB.

Zlob Modular's VC F3DB is a filter bank for Eurorack modular synthesizers. But it's much more than just that as well; while it can produce the clean, dry, nasal tones you might expect from a classic Moog or Buchla filter bank, it is designed to leverage feedback, clipping, and per-band envelope followers, allowing it to act as a chaotic sound source, spectral decoder, and intense distortion.

To access extended audio from this video (aaand there's a lot of it!), check out my Patreon page! You're free to use these sounds as materials for you own music, as well:

Zlob VC F3DB First Look video upload by Brett Naucke

"A first look at this fantastic new 6-Band Voltage Controlled Filterbank by Zlob Modular. Patch examples including manual filtering, drum processing, voltage controlled filter animation, 'vocoding' and some exploitations using the filterbank as a chaotic audio source. This is a GREAT filterbank capable of some very unique overdrive and distortion functions that set it apart from all other filterbanks in eurorack modular."

via Zlob Modular

"VC F3DB stands for Voltage Controlled Fixed Filter Feedback Distortion Bank. The simplest description is it’s a 16hp six band voltage controlled fixed filter bank. But with the additions of so much gain, clipping, feedback, and self-oscillation it becomes a very flexible and unique gestural sound sculpting tool capable of; graphic equalization over 6 octaves, multi-band distortion, spectral processing, crude vocoding, multi-frequency envelope following, self-modulation, and even as an instrument on its own. With no input it can be used as a pseudo chaotic “harmonic” feedback oscillator.

The filter frequencies were specifically chosen to emphasize more ambiguous and dissonant intervals. Although the frequency bands are spread out over many octaves I purposely tried to leave out “3rds” besides a major 10th at the top frequencies to even out all the dissonance below. But the frequencies aren’t exactly equal tempered, so it’s relative. The bands roughly equate to F2, B3, F#5, C6, F7, A8.

The design is based on the Moog 914 filterbank, which it borrows the frequency bands from. But this circuit uses active filters with opamps inspired by YU Synth opposed to passive cells using inductors on the original. The 88hz is a low pass -24db/oct and 7k is a high pass -24db/oct, the rest are -12db/oct band pass filters all with a Q around 4.

The hard and soft clipping circuit on the input is fairly standard which appears in many different iterations of classic guitar pedals. But it has a lot of gain and can even boost line level signals. What makes it a bit unique is the feedback on the clipping circuit which needs to be turned on by the GFB(gain feedback) switch and the amount can be controlled by the Gain FB pot which can add some fuzz/bite to the signal depending on which clipping switch is engaged or at the extremes it will self oscillate from audio rate to LFO sort of clicking range. All the clipping stages in the module are using silicon diodes.

Consult the Signal Flow Chart to the left for a rough visual breakdown of the controls,in/outs,normalizations, and optional settings for the module.

Each band can also be muted by the top toggle switches or clipped(at the VCA) by the top slide switch which makes this design a bit different than other filter banks. As well as the overall feedback section(bottom middle) takes the sum/all bands out through a VCA(controlled by the feedback pot and FB CV) back to the input gain/clip circuit. and you can also tap into this using different sends/bands to the FB In jack to break the normalization. With this extra feedback “resonance” you can get more whistley and howly filter sounds kinda like the Serge res eq, which can also go into self oscillation.

All cv ins are expecting +5v to open the VCAs(they wont respond to negative voltage), once you get closer to +8v or so it can clip the vca regardless of the gain settings or clip switches. Output amplitude in high gain settings will exceed 10vpp and can get up to 20vpp. The envelope followers tend to stay around 0-5v out, but with clip switch active they can go up to 10v.

Since this is a high gain module there can be bleed between the bands in certain configurations and situations. Also in high gain modes with higher frequencies the 2.8k and 7k bands can bleed a little with the VCAs closed.

This is a highly involved DIY all through hole project. It is a long build with 5 different pcbs to solder and assemble.

”We put a DJ filter in it” - A Supercritical Neutron Flux Filter thing

video upload by Supercritical Synthesizers

"In the yellow factory bank, there’s an oscillator character, Mean. We thought we’d put a safety switch in it. A default pole setting that could also not oscillate. We decided to put a variable width bandpass filter in the Yellow Mean 1 pole setting. In stereo of course. Resonance controls how steep it is and Mode controls the bandwidth. Effectively you can use this like a DJ filter. At first this idea was partly a joke but this character is really convenient and effective.

Here I’m doing some bleepy bloopy matchbox scale beats in the Nanoloop app on an iPhone. It’s amplified a bit with the Beads (doing some beat repeating and reverb) which is then connected to a mixer and a parallel line run through the Neutron Flux. Parallel patching is very effective with filters. Dry and processed lines are just behind their own faders."

Is this all there is | DSI Prophet 12 Ambient track

video upload by MIDERA

"It came today, even my daughter was excited, 'A synthesizer???' She and I ran downstairs and opened it up. She was interested, and then she saw it, and went to do something else.

I was impressed by a few things: 1) The keybed isn't quite as awful as people think. I would say it's in between the AN1x keybed and the TP/9S. It's not great, but it's ok. I agree that the velocity on here is not excellent. It's hard to control. 2) I find that despite all the knobs, it's actually somewhat difficult to navigate. I'll chalk this up to my inexperience with it. 3) It sounds like it distorts way quieter than other synths that I own. I wonder about the D/A converters. 4) For all the modulation capabilities, I sense that the P12 can't go the extra mile. It hits a wall and the sounds become clangorous (as opposed to an FM synths which just keeps going, beyond its obvious boundaries).

My first day with the Prophet 10 was similar. I was underwhelmed. I'll give it more time and learn more tricks before I settle down with an opinion.

A goose-neck cable attachment was also put on it on the upper right face for a goose-neck light to be attached if desired. Additionally portamento, vibrato, pitch bend, volume and master tuning are available, as well as a "WOW" and a Growl effect. Kawai K3m | Outstanding hybrid synth!

video upload by Espen Kraft

"This is a truly great hybrid synth. Together with the Korg DW-8000, Ensoniq ESQ1, Waldorf Microwave and the Prophet VS, this has digitally stored waveforms, and analog filters. Not just any filters, the K3 and K3m has the SSM 2044 filter chips inside. Arguably the most lovely filter of them all.

The song in the beginning can be found on my Bandcamp here: [embedded below]

32 different digital waveforms AND additive synthesis where you can make your own waveform from adding harmonics, and a spectacular dense and firm bottom end, this is basically a dream synth in my opinion. Instant Tangerine Dream and Stranger Things rolled into one."

Introducing Roland ZENOLOGY FX: Authentic Roland effects for your DAW

video upload by RolandChannel

"Watch how to tap into ZENOLOGY FX and explore nearly fifty years of legendary Roland sounds, including over 90 genre-defining effects. Add delays to arps, larger-than-life modulation effects to chord progressions, and twist and distort basses and lead tones that leap from the speakers. Now you can harness the swirling JUNO chorus, feedback-drenched tape echo, and other storied sounds to add flavor to any instrument track or synth sound right inside your DAW.

Modulation effects include choruses, phasers, flangers, and more—and they work wonders on synths and other keyboard instruments. You can add movement to synth parts and enhance sounds so they seem to exist outside the bounds of your speakers. Plus, delays add space without taking away presence and immediacy.

ZENOLOGY FX includes a menagerie of unique Roland effects to propel your tracks into uncharted sonic territory. Explore the DJFX Looper and lo-fi effects from the SP-404, or the layered multi-effects of the famed JD-800 synthesizer. Or color your sounds with slicers, filters, overdrives, and other selections from the vast Roland effects legacy.

The Details:
• Includes over 90 authentic Roland effects
• Bring keyboard and synthesizer sounds to life
• Create sparkling arps, spacious keyboard riffs, monster leads, and more
• VST3, AU, and AAX support for popular DAWs"

KORG Collection 3 - A Synthesizer Collection for the ages Including miniKORG 700S, Prophecy & Triton Extreme

video upload by Korg

"The KORG Collection 3 introduces three new software recreations to the world: KORG's first mass-produced analog synthesizer, the miniKORG 700S, the MOSS Tone Generator-powered Prophecy, and the Triton Extreme, the vacuum tube-equipped high point of the Triton series. KORG Collection 3 has now expanded to be a thrilling collection of iconic sounds from the '70s, '80s, '90s, and '00s."

"This collection precisely models the circuitry of historic analog synthesizers, fully emulating the depth and complexity of the miniKORG 700S, (KORG's first mass-produced analog synthesizer), the thick, persistent sound and flexible patching of the MS-20, the built-in effects of the six-note polyphonic Polysix, the thick, 4VCO monophony and unique polyphony of the Mono/Poly, and ARP's signature ARP Odyssey.

A vast array of digital synthesizers also await your command, including the M1, the iconic multi-functional workstation that revolutionized the music industry, the TRITON, a pillar of 2000s sound, the TRITON Extreme, the vacuum tube powered peak of the TRITON line, the WAVESTATION, which synthesizes and combines multiple waveforms for smooth tone changes and the Prophecy, a physical modeling synthesizer developed to explore brand new sonic worlds.

The KORG Collection is the embodiment of KORG's history; the ultimate showcase of the legendary sounds used on countless songs throughout the '70s, '80s, '90s, and '00s."

Generative & Experimental Patches + Patterns for Behringer Crave. Ambient and Techno. Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"«Probability» is a collection of 20 generative patches and sequences. This genre of sound design is very popular inside modular culture, and Crave suggests a good set of features to enter this club.
Controlled chaos and randomness, probability, non-repetitiveness, tempo break, pattern uniqueness, short and long sounds alternation, unexpected changes, silence and density, harmonic and fx-like tones, freaky splashes during a sequence - all these things are included in the soundset.

📺 Behringer Crave - Probability (20 Generative Patches + Patterns)
📻 Behringer Crave - Progressive Soundset (35 Patches)
📠 Behringer Crave - Techno Jam (64 Patterns)
📷 Behringer Crave - Expressive Bass (10 Patches)
Everything is here:

Generative timbre may be a good addition to (or a lead part of) ambient or techno tracks, jams and performances. You may also record fragments into your DAW or sampler, slice it to one-shots or make loops - you’ll get a unique material for further processing.

All patches require a sequence playback, and, obviously, the sequence The soundset is provided with 20 patterns that were used in audio examples. You may use them in your production and performances, they are 100% royalty free. You may use them as a starting point and turn them into something new. ARP 2600 CLONE (Domila600)

via this auction

"Clone Arp 2600 full size… The Domila600 is handcrafted, carefully respecting the measures, the circuitry (derived from original drawings) and most of the electronic components. Unlike the original machine, two MIDI jacks have been added, IN & OUT to be able to control the synthesizer with any keyboard equipped with the same protocol. To give a touch of versatility, a small luminous display has been added, with which it is possible to control and set the various MIDI channels of TX and RX in a very simple way using MIDI learning, moreover you will always have under control on the same display if the Synthesizer is set to glide on, or if it is in duophonic mode. The chassis is built in a workmanlike manner in multi-layer birch and covered in Tolex like the original, work performed by an expert professional, taking care of the details such as corner seams etc. and as the original is provided with lid with locking system for protection and safe transport."

Vintage 1970s Korg miniKORG 700S SN 760633

via this auction, also on Reverb "Unbelievably rare miniKORG 700S, the update 'S' edition that is truly rare. I bought this from the original owner in a huge job lot of gear he'd collected over decades. This one required a huge clean down and is now looking very good indeed. In full working order, except a few scratchy pots (nothing significant). The two 'pitch' sliders have broken off, but still work and are easy to use. The far right key is slightly lifted too, but still plays when pressed. Both of these issues don't affect playability but the price reflects them. Otherwise beautiful! You'll not be disappointed. Please check out the pictures below as they form part of our description."

"Unbelievable original 1970s Yamaha CS60 Synth in truly stunning original condition. This is one of the nicest I have ever seen for sale. I have owned a few of these, and this is by far the nicest. It really is a synth of legends! It is in full working order, and we have videos of it working for anyone interested. Comes complete with the original stands and even the original pedal. I have not seen another with this sort of originality before. Cosmetically in stunning condition. This really would be an amazing addition to any studio or collection. It was originally purchased from Music Ground in the 1970s, as you can see, prior to them losing their way. They clearly sold incredible gear! You'll not be disappointed. The ECR+ Eurorack Convolver.

Convolution works with Impulse Responses, which can be added to the ECR+ via USB. This means it is not limited to just reverberation IR's. This versatile device is a great addition to any Eurorack setup and sparks a ton of creativity.

SynthMaster 2 Patch Analysis

video upload by boxoftextures

"SynthMaster 2 has become one of my favorite synths. It's powerful, flexible, easy to use, and sounds great. And you can make tons of really good synth patches without too much trouble. SynthMaster 2 used to be only on computers but they've recently released an iPad version and it's a major benefit to now be able to easily take it everywhere. I happen to like large swirly textures, and SynthMaster 2 excels at that sort of thing. And you can make any number of other types as well, of course. This one uses the vector and wavetable oscillators along with a pile of LFOs to provide that sweet, sweet swirling action. So while this isn't exactly a SynthMaster 2 tutorial you can probably get a good idea of how the synth works as I take apart the patch I made."

Moog Polymoog 203a Synthesizer SN 2118

via this auction

"It powers on and makes sound, but is not 100% working and needs to be serviced. Here's a quick rundown of the issues, as far as I can tell:

- Depending on the settings, your can sometimes hear oscillators constantly droning quietly in the background
- Some oscillators are louder than others / inconsistent timbre across the keys
- Some VAR/PRE buttons stuck in one position, making it hard to tell if those sections are working properly
- Velocity sensitivity doesn't work very well
- 3 keys don't trigger
- Some LEDs are burnt out
- Some sliders cut in and out / are scratchy

The Polypedal generally works, but is a bit finicky and the patch cable seems to be partially non original.

It is in good physical condition. The ribbon controller is responsive and works well, and most of the presets sound as they should. Some keys are a bit uneven / not parallel with the keys on either side.

Great for someone who wants to invest the time and energy to getting this back up and running."
