"Playing around with the small case, today. Just wanted to showcase what could be done with an Arp of Darkness and a Seventh Summoner, side by side. Patch notes:

Pam’s Pro clocking everything. Seventh Summoner sequencing and real-time transposing a Braids (pluck program) running through Data Bender, and a MultiVersio on the LoFi program. A couple of Disting MK4’s are running the bass drone on one with an LFO on the other that is modulating a Pittsburgh Modular filter. That’s being sequenced by an Ornament & Crime running the Phaserville Suite. The Arp Of Darkness is arpeggiator a Dust Of Time (swarm program) and that’s running through a Busy Circuits MFX on the 2051 Bit Corrupter program and a stereo delay on another Disting MK4. Finally, there’s an Erica Synths Pico drum running some rhythmic duties and an EP-133 with the main drums off to the side."

1969 Moog IIIP Vintage Modular Synthesizer For Sale or NYC Studio Use

"The Moog modular was one of the first commercially available synthesizers. Sold in different configurations, the Moog IIIP consisted of 3 portable cabinets. Containing ten (!) 901 series oscillators, the best lowpass and highpass filters in the biz, and a magical spring reverb that makes things sound more organic, we can't think of any other synth that matches the warmth and fatness of this genuine 1969 vintage Moog modular. Wendy Carlos’s classic album Switched on Bach and I Feel Love by Donna Summer were recorded on similar Moog modular systems. We just finished refurbishing this gorgeous example (assuming we don’t find any problems as we continue to test it). Restoration was done in stages and took many months to complete. Total tech time spent was around 85 hours. We hit a snag when some parts we ordered turned out to be fakes - a sadly common occurrence these days - but we eventually managed to track down some legit replacements. We originally planned to sell this system, but after spending some time patching it, we don’t know if we can let this one go! If this system was set up in a commercial studio here in New York City where it was available for use, would you be interested? If so, please email us. Or, make us a serious offer and if it's tempting enough, maybe we'll sell it. We'd also consider trades for similar vintage modular systems (Roland System 700, Buchla 200, Polyfusion, Emu Modular, ARP 2500, etc). "WHAT'S THAT THING ?
The CANON, is, as its name suggests, a module to create a canon effect (!) between 2 voices.

Wikipédia: Canon_(music)
A theme that is repeated and imitated and built upon by other instruments with a time delay, creating a layered effect.

In the modular world, it's Simply a delay for CV and GATE.
But unlike an audio delay (that records audio at 'audio rate') the CANON records data only according to a clock signal.
With the CANON module, you can delay until 16 steps.

The CANON can delay one GATE and one CV
(+1 CV with an extension).
Of course with CV controle of the number of steps. With the unique knob: Nb Steps.

To be more playable, there are two more functions:
Reset (RST), to clear the memory, that can be useful to not let the sequence running if you don't want that.
Enable (EN). In this case, the input is ignored. The module will works like a small sequence memory of 16 steps.
The Nb Steps knobs will controle the duration of the loop.

To resume, The module needs a Clock signal (CLK)
A CV and a GATE input.
And you will have the same things as the input, shifted !
Then a Reset button + Jack to clear the memory. (RST)
And a Enable button + Jack to freeze the memory. (EN)

With an external module, like the Mult., you can delay one more CV.

Typical use:
Building musical canon.
Save and play with the sequence in the memory.

This appears to be the first post to feature the Pearl Pk-701.

"Extremely rare synth by Pearl, produced in very limited numbers with very little documentation available online.

It resembles an Italian-style string machine with piano, string, and brass sounds, featuring a beautiful chorus and vibrato. In reality, it’s a true 8-voice polyphonic synthesizer with an absolutely beautiful sound.

Cosmetically is in great condition, unfortunately, there are no schematics available, and I haven’t been able to tune the individual voices. Each voice has 4 potentiometers, but without documentation, it’s difficult to tune everything properly.

All the voice boards work perfectly, although the slot for board 2 doesn’t output piano sounds on the assigned note."

Sidenote: I've been writing my own visual FX code over the last two weeks, trying to create nightvision filters and AI shape detection for shapes, hands, faces, etc. I needed to test them, so this video is a bit of a test case.I will use them sparsely, but not today. I know they're not top notch yet, but it feels different when you designed them yourself. Also, I want to bring a bit of the Cinematic Laboratory to a live show, allowing me to also visualize what I play when there's a big screen nearby.

Also, my efforts of exploring AI assisted coding may have brought me the opportunity to speak at a big ICT conference. I am sure some of you hate all of this, but the future is here and we can't stop it. Modular is my retirement hobby, but ICT made it possible. Someone was selling some ThinkGeek Bliptronic 5000 sequencer / synthesizers so we picked one up just to check it out. It sounds like a toy, but the interface is fun. It’s polyphonic, but this was just a first simple test. You can chain them together apparently. It sounded a little better through the Metasonix Penile Amputator into the CRS Tube Reverb for mono spring reverb and then a wash of reverb from the MIDIVERB II."

This is a six voice analog Akai VX600 synthesizer. Two oscillators per voice, and it takes minimum 30 minutes to stabilize tuning enough to play. Even so, it also wants 3 or 4 auto-tune sessions. Basses, pads, leads, arpeggios. Please enjoy. While this demo features my original patches, alas - there's no way to backup patches to computer or share them w/ others in that way. It only accepts Roland style Memory Cards. Be sure to check out my patches for other synths available at https://gstormelectro.gumroad.com/

Recorded direct via EPM6 mixer to GO-Mixer Pro-X interface to iPhone, no added effects.
The synth output is very hot, so any clipping you hear was overloading the input at the mixer."

Crossing the threshold: New Systems Instruments’ “discrete map”

"New Systems Instruments sent me their new module, Discrete Map. It’s a deep module, with lots of potential uses, so I’ll be dedicating the next few videos to it. This first, introductory video uses it as a generative sequencer, extracting an evolving melody from a Lorenz chaos trajectory."

"Novum! New Systems Instruments has created a unique and innovative approach to generating sequences with Discrete Map.

New Systems Instruments consistently surprises with innovative designs! Discrete Map fits right in, taking a simple concept and turning it on its head. At its core, it’s an 8-step sequencer that can output a traditional step-by-step sequence. The pitch values are set using the eight upper faders, but what makes it truly special are the eight lower faders, which determine which step is played at any given moment.

The sequencer’s X input accepts any signal, a clock, an LFO, or even another sequence. The lower faders set threshold values, and the switches below them define whether they react to a rising or falling edge. This means the sequence jumps to different steps based on the incoming signal, creating a highly controllable form of randomness! The results are striking! Complex rhythms and surprising melodies that become even more dynamic when paired with the expander for voltage-controlled step selection.

Discrete Map also includes an onboard oscillator. A switch toggles between a slow and fast frequency range. When slow, it functions as a standard step sequencer. Another switch changes from Position mode (explained above) to Length mode, where the lower faders control step duration. When switched to the fast mode tho, it becomes a graphic oscillator that tracks V/Oct.

To round out the package, Discrete Map includes additional utilities for better integration with other modules. The precision adder for example allows an external voltage to transpose the entire sequence.

The A/B/C Expander further enhances functionality, adding three assignable groups for the steps. Each group gains CV-controllable threshold values and dedicated gate outputs for active steps. And because that´s not enough there's also a sequential switch. Several discrete maps and A/B/C expanders can be linked together!

Overall, an incredibly well-thought-out and entirely fresh approach to sequence generation!

"It was released between 1981 and 1984 as the successor to the TR-808, and its unique textured sound can still be heard today in sound sources by a wide variety of artists.

Today's rhythm machines, synths, modules, and software sound generators also feature the 909 sound, making it an indispensable essence for production.

It is the classic sound of machine drums. It is truly a masterpiece of a rhythm machine.

Compared to the TR-808, which uses a full analog sound source, the 909 uses a PCM sound source with 6-bit sampling for the cymbal system.

This hybrid approach is inherited from the TR-808 in terms of the thick kick and toms produced by the analog circuitry, while digital sampling is used for the cymbals.

The unique "that" hardware sound by low-bit sampling. This distinctive sound and the TR-REC sequencer helped solidify its position. House and techno are genres spawned by the 909's sound, and might not have existed without it."

"We are releasing new demo videos for two of our older modules - Quad LFO and Replicant VCF. Some time has passed since we have released these two modules. We thought that they deserve brand new and shiny demo videos.

Today we reintroduce you to Tre Modular - Quad LFO.

Tre Modular – Quad LFO features four independent Low-Frequency Oscillators.

Quad LFO offers both super slow and low audio rate speeds. It ranges from 0.013Hz to 40Hz. You can use it for slow moving patches or audio rate modulation.

Another notable feature of this Quad LFO is skew/pulse width control. It is similar to one found on Korg's MS-20 Modulation Generator. Rotate the knob to morph between sawtooth, triangle, and ramp waveforms. Turn counterclockwise for sawtooth waveform and clockwise for ramp waveform and in the middle it produces triangle waveform.

At the corresponding channels square wave output this control changes the pulse width of the square wave."
