Brothers On A Hotel Bed (Death Cab For Cutie) - Novation Circuit synth cover | Deerful

"I realised twelve years after everyone else did that Death Cab were amazing and obviously I had to cover them. Just voice and Circuit. Setup explanation under the cut!

I record sending a USB cardioid mic into Ableton, track muted; circuit into iRig Pro into Ableton, track soloed but very low volume so I can hear it enough to sing with but there's not much bleed into the mic (there's basically none here) and I can mix them separately. I don't like singing with headphones."

Ultimate Circuit Setup Preview

"This is my first jam with the Ultimate Circuit Setup I am working on. A little preview of what is to come on the channel.

So I have had this idea for a while to build a Ultimate Circuit setup in order to take my Circuiteering further. 2x Circuits and a LCXL seemed like the obvious choice. Bass Station 2 adds some analog bass to the mix. I just lack the Mono Station. Everything is routed thru a Clarett 8 Pre from Focusrite and recorded into Cubase 8 Pro.

Lancaster - Moog The Source

Published on Apr 29, 2017 100 Things I Do

"A quick Sunday noodle with the Moog Source.

I got The Source many years ago and until I got my Mood Model D I just assumed they sounded the same. I was originally intending to sell the Source when I got the D but it became apparent immediately that they were 2 very different instruments.

The Osc Sync and Variable pulse with add different flavour. The envelope on the filter acts much slower and as such the sound moves around quite a bit with long release times.

I called it Lancaster as it reminded me of the Drone sound in the old World War II films the big bombers always had.

I hope you enjoy this lil demo."

"This is a monophonic bass synthesizer produced between 1975-1977. This one is tested and working! It has some minor wear in the form of paint scratches. It also has a small dent in the left front trim. Its missing its suitcase lid and clasps. All of its switches and sliders feel nice and work properly. There are lot of things to love about this little guy! First and foremost, the most massive mono bass sound Ive ever heard!!! The filter aka "traveler" sounds fat and smooth. The pitch slider makes it easy to use with samples, or live players. 2 octaves of full-sized keys makes left-handed bass a joy. This is a rare and special instrument, it possesses a magical sound quality and is especially easy to use. Sounds fantastic through a bass amp!"

Access Virus FM Power | Synthmorph Sequences

Published on Apr 28, 2017 SynthMorph

Virus FM Power is not just a distinct soundset of 94 presets based on FM synthesis capabilities of Access Virus, but also contains 20 special morphing Synthmorph MIDI sequences."

"Although the classic Access Virus B and Virus C are primarily virtual analog synthesizers, they are armed with a simple two-operator FM mode applying frequency modulation synthesis. Despite this simple 'pseudo-FM' structure, Virus uses some clever methods to extend the range of possible FM sounds into its own unique territory of amazing sonic landscapes.

As this synthesizer has a special frequency modulation character, it proved to be a rewarding idea to dig deep into this part of the Virus and making presets using its FM-only features. What does it mean? The filters are usually completely off (as the original Yamaha DX7 did not have a filter at all), but the unison modes, the arpeggiator and the otherwise powerful distortion are hardly used too. Even the built-in effects were used differently – they are disabled most often!

The idea was to create pure, punchy, bright FM sounds. While the presets were inspired by some classic FM presets, a Virus always encourages you to break the rules and create something beyond the ordinary: you can use these sounds not just for synthwave, ambient, techno, edm, pop, psy, house or trap, but basically for any purpose.

The sonic palette is varied: deep and raspy FM basses, crystal clear keys, tinkling mono leads, animated pads and sharp plucks, often spiced up with some irregular yet controlled atonal, aliased, and droning nature."

Introduction to Eurorack Expansion

Introduction to Eurorack Expansion from Learning Modular on Vimeo.

"The introductory movie to my upcoming course 'Learning Modular Synthesis: Eurorack Expansion.' This course will look at classic examples of the wide variety of modules available in each category such as oscillators, filters, modulators, and more, giving you a better idea what to look for in a module, and how to put it to use once you add it to your modular system. This will also help you learn what feature enables what sound or technique, so you will be better informed when you go shopping for modules.

This course will be available through Lynda.com and LinkedIn Learning in July 2017, and will be supplemented with weekly updates on LearningModular.com. In the meantime, check out this article on choosing important utility or 'glue' modules you will probably need to best take advantage of new modules you add to your semi-modular or core full-modular system: http://learningmodular.com/the-eurorack-expansion-host-rack/"

This was recently serviced by SRS in March 2017 and studio ready or a collectors piece.

As you can see there is a scratch on the key bed which we were going to replace originally however decided against this to retain all original features. This does not affect the functionality of the synth in anyway and is strictly superficial.

Very minor wear to the wood casing which truly is a work of craft.

SUPERBOOTH17 – Close to 5000 visitors at FEZ Berlin

The following is the final press release on this year's SUPERBOOTH. For some perspective, we had 227 Superbooth17 posts here on MATRIXSYNTH so far, more are sure to trickle in. NAMM2017 came in at 209 posts, and Musikmesse2017 had only 19 posts. Note the number of posts that come in are just a reflection of what attendees capture at each event.

"Berlin, April 29th 2017

The 2nd edition of SUPERBOOTH left the organizers jaded but fulfilled. Summing up, SUPERBOOTH17 beats last year's edition by far with 70 new exhibitors, more concerts and more visitors to the FEZ Berlin. The new venue, though not built for this purpose, shows how well a fair for electronic musical instruments fits into the ex - GDR "Pionier-Palast". The stage, the foyer and the outdoor area with the Seaside-Stage offered a framework that was very well received by exhibitors and visitors alike.

Many exhibitors took new product developments unseen by the public eye to SUPERBOOTH. This is something which can be perceived as acknowledgement of the fair's meaning. The manufacturer's trust in the work of Andreas Schneider and his team paid off well. Visitor numbers have considerably increased also as a consequence of the cultural events and again offering top notch, iconic and unusual content from all stems of electronic music.

A new feature this year was the screening of the cinema films, i.e. fans and other interested visitors were given the chance to view the Berlinale film "Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht" before official theatre release. Another new element that entered the mix were workshops for school children (ages 7-15) in which a performance was developed and put onstage in conjunction with (among others) the Teichmann Bros from Regensburg and Berlin. From this type of workshop, a new way of teaching shall guide a new generation into music making, far away from old methods like learning to play recorder or triangles.

The SUPERBOOTH concept bears fruit - In front of the four main stages and through the hallways, one could hear voices saying: "next year we'll be back”. Interest in SUPERBOOTH is as big because it is like a fresh breeze for conventional trade fair patterns or platforms. The fair is closer to what electronic musical instruments should be about - the music - and not profit margins and sales figures. The most frequently posed question arising over the weekend was about the prospect for the next coming SUPERBOOTH. Which direction is it headed?

Andreas Schneider and his team would like to express their explicit thanks to all exhibitors, artists, media representatives, trade visitors and last but not least the numerous public visitors for their continued and new support over three marvelous days!

"The Kawai SX-240 is an eight voice, fully programmable polyphonic analog synthesizer released in 1984 as a follow up to the Kawai SX-210. It was manufactured by Kawai but originally released under the Teisco brand-name in Japan when Kawai bought out Teisco. The Kawai SX-240 and the Kawai SX-210 never got much attention due to entering the market during the time of the digital revolution and poor marketing. Its main analog competitors of the time were the Korg Polysix and the Roland Juno 6/60."

"Manufactured in 1977, in very good condition with just a few scrapes and bumps here and there. All electronics have been serviced and work 100%. Capable of some great warm analogue synth sounds. Minimalist controls, surprisingly versatile. All analogue circuitry, Contains the same VCF hybrid chips as found in the MS10 and MS20 known as the 'KORG35'. Not surprising then that it's sound is similar to the MS10 and the 20. Becoming a collectable vintage synthesizer. Item does not come with music rest. All of the original knobs and slider controls are intact. Synth works on 220/240 VAC, has a 3-pin UK plug fitted. As used by orchestral manoeuvres in the dark (OMD) On 'ENOLA GAY', 'MESSAGES' and also 'ELECTRICITY' music tracks. Although the synth has no CV or GATE control, there are a few websites that show how easy it can be added. As it stands, the synth is completely un-modified."

OB-6/Prophet 6/Odyssey - "Please, no"

Published on Apr 28, 2017 Jae Ryan

"I made a vow to my girlfriend that I wouldn't get into Eurorack until we buy a house. I have friends that have recently gotten into it and the modular bug has been biting me BAD. So I decided I would set out with what I have and try and make the most modular thing possible!

There's no video of me playing this time because I'm actually NOT. I cranked the VCA gain on the Odyssey and used the hold switches on the Prophet and OB and just let them go.

Odyssey is doing the Drone that starts first and fades out in the end.
OB-6 comes in next with some weird random 'noise'

Prophet 6 is holding down the "Melody" and is heavily dosed in the Moog MF delay

They're all running into the Bigsky which is on a cliche shimmer setting but is certainly what makes the track!

No modular anytime soon, but this was certainly fulfilling!

Excuse the annoying video, I needed to make some sort of visual accompaniment but it was of minimum priority!"

Moog Music Introduces the Moog Synthesizer IIIc Limited to 25 Units Worldwide

Moog Synthesizer IIIc (Or: Music For Riding Dragons)

Published on Apr 28, 2017 Moog Music Inc

"In the late 1960s, Bob Moog and a team of ten skilled technicians began hand-building cutting-edge musical instruments that they called "synthesizers" -- instruments that would radically change the landscape of music.

Fifty years later, we are proud to announce the return of the Moog Synthesizer IIIc to production for a very limited time.

Every Synthesizer IIIc will be built using all-original documentation, art, and circuit board files. Moog Synthesizer IIIc production is highly limited. Only 25 units will be produced and sold worldwide.

Sequencer Complement B sold separately."

via Moog Music

"The Moog Synthesizer IIIc Returns to Production

Throughout the 1960s, Dr. Robert Moog collaborated with over 100 composers of electroacoustic music to create the synthesizer concept, born of thousands of design decisions and countless conversations. At the time, the available method of producing electronic music was the “classical studio,” a makeshift production environment cobbled together from individual electronic sound-generators such as surplus telecommunications devices, radio equipment, and early tape machines. Moog and the musicians he worked with streamlined this classical studio technique into a system of standardized sound modules.

In 1965, Bob Moog began taking orders for individual modules and customized modular systems. By 1967, he and a team of ten skilled technicians were hand-building production models in an unassuming brick storefront in Trumansburg, NY. The cutting-edge musical instruments that they called “synthesizers” signaled electronic music’s maturation from an awkward and shy intruder in the realm of music to a dynamic and significant medium of musical expression.

The first models were aptly named Synthesizer I, II, and III. With the introduction of the Moog Synthesizer IIIc -- the “c” referring to the walnut “console” cabinet -- musicians could purchase a complete instrument pre-configured for logical access to a range of facilities usually associated with the largest classical studios.

Each synthesizer took weeks of patient, steady crafting to complete, but the payoff would be rich -- a tool that would change the landscape of music.

The world got turned on to the idea of the synthesizer -- and electronic music -- through the visionary works of experimental musicians like Wendy Carlos and Isao Tomita. Sonic masterpieces like Switched On Bach and Snowflakes Are Dancing were made possible by the early modular Moog Synthesizers. These original modular systems designed by Bob Moog are inimitable in sonic character and remain highly coveted for their limitless reconfigurability and vibrantly organic musicality.

Fifty years later, we are proud to announce the return of the Moog Synthesizer IIIc to production for a very limited time.

'Through archival designs, so-called obsolete electronics, and outmoded production processes, we are rediscovering the magic of our past. It’s a privilege to build instruments in this way; it lets us reimagine what future tools can be. There is so much potential in this history.' - Anna Montoya, Moog Production Engineer / photo via deadaudioblog

Every Synthesizer IIIc will be built using all-original documentation, art, and circuit board files. Each instrument features thirty-six hand-stuffed, hand-soldered modules, including ten 901-Series audio oscillators, the 984 Matrix Mixer, and the 905 Spring Reverb. All modules are securely mounted into two hand-finished, solid walnut console cabinets at the Moog factory in Asheville, NC.

Moog Synthesizer IIIc production is highly limited. Only 25 units will be produced and sold worldwide."

No details, just this image. You be the judge. I'm not seeing that much of a difference myself. New Qu-Bit Electronics Chance - Random Voltage Generator and Noise Source Eurorack Module

Chance from Qu-Bit on Vimeo.

via Qu-Bit Electronics

"The Chance is a random voltage generator and noise source. Its digital architecture allows for a fresh take on what random voltage can be. Four unique algorithms provide classic signals like smooth and discrete, while the wavetable and blend outputs take full advantage of its microcontroller core, utilizing lookup tables, and digital interpolation to create a one-of-a-kind modulation source. Upon each successive clock pulse, coin toss seeds all outputs with new randomly chosen values. Freeze stops everything in its tracks and holds each output at its current state. After countless hours, the Chance will continue to surprise with new, unbelievable improvisations.

- Four random voltage outputs with attenuverters
- Unique algorithms
- Erratic gate burst and autonomous rhythm trigger outputs
- Freeze control stops everything in its tracks
- Coin toss random voltage reseed
- Digital noise and analog white noise outputs
- Steady master clock output with rate CV

If you are squeamish, just don't scroll down to the second image.

That said, I hope Gary gets better soon, and I hope he does not have to worry about his expenses. Modern English was a big part of my formative years, and I still love their music to this day. BTW, their new album is great.

Elektron Analog Rytm and Roland System-1 Have a Conversation While Jamming

Something New - (Smooth Beats) Live Jam with Elektron Analog Rytm and Roland System-1

Published on Apr 27, 2017 umonox

"Heyja :-) It was about time for a new Live Jam. So - here it is ;-) This time with the Elektron Analog Rytm and the Roland System-1 - which i actually "play" live in this track. Enjoy! :-)

Analog Rytm does the Drums, Bass and the rest of the melodic stuff (as well as the Noise - literally :-D) and the System-1 delivers the Pad which i play live. No further editing in the DAW except for some Multiband Compression and Limiting.

If you like this track and if you want to support me, you can buy it in High Quality here:

Thank you and: All the best,
